What do you think of my park?😄

Hi guys! I used to play RCT when I was a kid. A couple of days ago I bought RCT Classic on my iPhone, and during my current holiday I've been building this park, trying to play a bit more thoughtfully than I did back in the good old days of my childhood.

What do you think of it? I really love decorating my parks, so I've spent a lot of time on the scenery. I've attached a few screenshots, especially of the elevated platform built over one of the rides, with shops, benches, and decorations.

Pirate theme park layout

Hey guys! I recently started playing RCT2 again. I hadn’t played since I was a kid, and I’m having a blast so far. I’ve been lurking this sub during work breaks, and honestly, it’s impressive what you guys have made. I’ve also learned so many little things from you. Awesome work!

I wanted to share this little project I’m currently working on.

The main idea was to make a theme park made of several islands, where guests have to travel by boat from island to island. I set up a Boat Hire ride with a track going all around the islands, with stations on each island so guests can take a boat and stop at the next island. As you can see, I’m not really playing for efficiency. I’m playing to make it look cool and beautiful.

At first I had a problem, you can’t put that many boats on a Boat Hire ride, since only one station is recognized as the “main station” that should contain boats. Since my stations are 12 tiles long, I could only put 12 boats on the ride.

After some investigation, I found out I could cheat and add more boats than normally allowed. I set it to 90 boats at first, and it was kind of a disaster. Eventually, all the guests got stuck in one of the stations waiting for empty boats to leave, while not enough guests were getting into the empty boats.

I tried to make empty boats leave the station like you can with other rides, but it didn’t seem to work for Boat Hire. I don’t know if I was doing something wrong, but it seems like a guest has to ride a boat for it to start moving to the next station.

After many attempts changing the number of boats and trying to organize guests between stations using “No Entry” signs, I finally got the behavior I was looking for. You can see boats all around the map, no major jams, and almost every station has people waiting for a boat to arrive. The final boat count is 35.

Then it hit me, if I did this, my staff wouldn’t be able to reach broken rides or anything else on the islands, and I didn’t want that to become a problem. So I ended up building bridges that connect all of the islands. Overall, the result is not bad, and the feeling that guests need to use boats to travel between islands is still there.

I had a lot of fun setting this up, and I can’t wait to start filling the park with more attractions, buildings, and scenery.

RTC not saving

Upvotes

So I've read through what i can find about this game not saving and haven't had much luck figuring out the problem. I believe it may be saving to the cloud. I purchased the classic version through the windows store for my laptop, but nothing comes up on the load screen. I have read about going through the Xbox somehow but I only have a 360 that's in been in storage for years since I switched to Playstation. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Final coaster for Dragons Cove was the steel looping coaster. Decided to make it long and fast. Its very unrealistic. Features 2 interlocking loops and a underground loop around the chain lift. The bunny hops underground after the underground loop and drop I'd imagine is holding on for dear life as you crest it going over 40 mph. This one is very expensive to run using boosters to help it achieve its length without a extremely long lift hill. I wish there was a powerlaunched block section mode for corkscrew, looping, and inverted coasters. Took this one to the brink of being to intense over 10 originally with a stat penalty to excitement for drops and had to scale it down. Its a sprawling design not aiming for much of a compact layout for it.

Excitement: 9.62

Intensity: 9.63

Nausea: 6.28

Max speed: 59mph

Avg speed: 25mph

Ride time: 2min:53sec

Ride length 8,409ft

Max positive vertical Gs: 3.49g

Max negative vertical Gs: -1.70g

Max lateral Gs: 1.95g

Total airtime: 8.46secs

Roller coasters broken (Classic)

Post image
41 Upvotes

I've been playing classic for a few weeks now, I'm onto Evergreen Gardens. I built this standup coaster, pre made design, and it is always broken. It won't stay open for more than about 30 seconds. I assumed it was the design, so tried a different pre made standup, but it had the same issue. I then built a Flight of the Phoenix, just researched, and sure enough, same issue. I am nearing the end of Year 4, which is further than I've been on any park so far. Anyone seen this issue before? Cheers!

OpenRCT2 After years of gatekeeping I've decided to share the custom color palette I use in my builds. It's been almost five years, it's time! Link in the description.

Hello lovely people of reddit! I will only share this with you, but you are free to re-share it. It's not that big of a deal anyway. I hope you'll use it since I think the game looks a lot better with this palette!

Download my custom palette here!

Now, you can see in the pictures why I made this palette in the first place. In my opinion the original palette looks quite harsh and has somewhat unrealistic colors. I've decided to make everything a bit less saturated and made sure that the 'earthy' shades were actually, well, earthy. I don't know how else to describe that, haha. I made the blues a bit nicer to look at as well.

Installation

If you don't know how to install and use the palette, don't worry. Here's how:

The file you will download is called MVRFIRST.DAT. Place this file in the 'object' folder in your OpenRCT2 directory. On Windows you can find this in your Documents folder and if you're on Mac like me this will be hidden in Library\Application Support\OpenRCT2.

In OpenRCT2 itself you then go into the Object Selection menu via the Cheats icon in the top left toolbar. Navigate to the Terrain Surfaces tab and then under the Water tab you will find the 'MvR First Palette' object. Deselect the normal water one and select mine. This is now the palette you're working with!

Enjoy and please share projects you've used it in with me! I would love to see that.

Which flavor is your favorite? Hazelnut or vanilla?

Hi there! Back again with another dueling coaster and this time it's one for the families. This one is supposed to be set in Italy and the coaster is sponsored by a famous Italian sandwich spread company, which I legally cannot name. One side is the hazelnut flavor side and the other one the vanilla flavor. Where "Hazel" is a bit more focused towards thrill, "Nilla" is quite tame and literally everyone should be able to ride this side.

About the build: It was extremely tedious work to get them to sync up. Not only did they have to reach the spikes at the same time, but the return trip needed to be in sync as well! This is where I did some OpenRCT2 magic by placing hidden boosters and brakes along the track. They do very minimal work, but they influence the track just enough to get them to work perfectly together. I've also spent a lot of time on the scenery for this one, so I decided to throw in some shots of those parts in the cinematic intro. As always, the music is made by me as well. Enjoy!

Stats:

Hazel stats:

  • Excitement: 8.03 (Very high)
  • Intensity: 5.00 (Medium)
  • Nausea: 2.47 (Low)
  • Max speed: 72 kph
  • Ride time: 1 m 2 s
  • Ride length: 381 m
  • Max. pos. vert. G: 2.80
  • Max. neg. vert. G: -0.83
  • Max. lateral G: 1.13
  • Total air time: 1.83 s
  • Drops: 8
  • Highest drop: 14 m

Nilla stats:

  • Excitement: 7.73 (Very high)
  • Intensity: 4.64 (Medium)
  • Nausea: 2.40 (Low)
  • Max speed: 72 kph
  • Ride time: 1 m 2 s
  • Ride length: 301 m
  • Max. pos. vert. G: 2.74
  • Max. neg. vert. G: -0.39
  • Max. lateral G: 1.16
  • Total air time: 1.38 s

RCT1 I read that the advice for beating Three Monkeys was just to build a bunch of roller coasters.

Post image
26 Upvotes

I HAVE built a bunch of flat rides, they're just mostly offscreen in the bottom left corner here. I packed them all in super tight to leave as much room as possible.

Obviously these coasters are not exactly new or genius in their design. I've experimented with a bunch more ambitious ones, except they all get like 17 intensity rating & the game is like, "Why are you trying to kill people??" I'll keep practicing to strike a balance. I'm just glad to know how to use chain lifts now! 😅

Gonna build a couple more coasters once new ones become available. I'm having fun experimenting with the different types. I SHOULD have more by now, but I messed up by setting my research to only shops/stalls (bc you start with no food), then setting it to gentle and thrill rides, then going, "Wait, I WANT new roller coasters this time." Usually I make do with a lot of flat rides and shops and pre-made coaster designs, so the customization side of the game is new to me!

Anyway, I won't spam more updates here. Just wanted to show you how far I've come from a week ago :)

EDIT: OH, I should add that the warm-colored roller coasters are pre-made in the scenario. Those aren't mine!

OpenRCT2 Today I build a highly profitable 9 x 5 Floorless Coaster

Thumbnail
gallery
121 Upvotes

This isn't the first 9 x 5 Floorless / Twister Coaster I posted here, but this new design turned out extremely profitable even though it uses no exploits or glitches at all. It peaked around 62k of hourly profit (including duplicates of itself running simultaneously). A ride time of just 30 seconds means that the two trains which hold 28 guests each are pretty much always in use with little to no delay. This layout also has tons of space below the track for a lot of stall bonuses. Building it on water only adds very little Excitement, but just enough to reach that coveted 8 Excitement rating. Though the most shocking thing is the low Intensity and Nausea. You end up with a lovely E.I.N. ratio.

You can download this design (or any other one I posted) from this Google Drive.
