First and foremost, thank you in advance.

I’m looking for a raft that will be used only on flat water — no whitewater/rapids at all. If you’re familiar with it, the scenic section of the Snake River through Grand Teton National Park is the type of water I’m talking about.

I’d love a larger raft to be shared with my sister and her family. If rafts come in such a size — the max would be 6 adults + 6 kids (all under the age of 11). That kind of capacity would be less often the case. More frequently, it would be 4 adults and 6 kids (same kids — all under the age of 11). Also Less frequently would be 2 adults with 3 kids but with more gear for a longer trip. Anything involving 4 or more adults would be day trip type of stuff.

Does such a raft exist? Brands? What criteria am I filtering for on websites? Is it a weight capacity thing?

Looking to get some new oars. I am looking for what you guys would go with. I am in northern Colorado and float mainly the lazy rivers around here on my fishing raft. I need to get some new oar shafts for sure (little bent) but would also like to get new blades. Currently have the normal rectangle style blade. Looking to stay $300-500 per or under.

Has anyone put a 8’ Bimini on a 14’ raft? I know 6’ is the recommended, but the extra shade seems like it would be nice for passengers on desert overnights.

Also looking for suggestions on favorite mounting kits, either DIY or raft frame specific. We do have a wooden deck that could be bolted into.

Just got done backpacking about 40 miles of the Rogue River here in Oregon and was envious of the rafters we saw along the hike. We are looking at planning our next trip and were looking at the Owyhee Canyon lands in south eastern Oregon. After looking at the lack of trails and the option of floating the river, I am interersted in potentially doing a rafting trip instead of a backpacking trip.

My question though is what is the process for planning a back country rafting trip? Is there a way to know what you're getting into and knowing if the river is a viable option or not?

It does sound like there is a rafting company that guides through the Owyhee river so calling them for more info is probably the best option, but for future sake, and I guess just because I am curious, is there a way to plan a rafting trip on a river you're unfamiliar with?

For a little background as well, I am by no means an avid white water rafter, or particularly involved in this sport. I have grown up rafting the deschutes pretty much every year and have guided the boat since I was about 16. Though I am not an expert by any means, I am familiar with it and am interested in the potential options rafting brings to the table for the back country.

Looking for the best river to rent a raft or tubes and leisurely float and drink beers on in montana, idaho, or wyoming at the end of july and outfitters who rent/transport

For anyone looking to go whitewater rafting in either Western North Carolina or McCaysville Georgia, I recommend going with Rolling Thunder River Company. They’re a ma and pa company that knows how to give guests a great time, while also balancing professionalism. I’ve been going to them for years because I got tired of dealing with these commercialized rafting companies. It’s sad to see these corporations take over the rafting world. More often than not, they take on more people than they can chew and aren’t able to give their staff the right amount of training/just care about profit. Thunder is a breath of fresh air compared to these other companies out here. It’s clear they genuinely care about their staff and the guests and it makes your time on the water all the better because of it!! I don’t usually hype businesses up like this but I feel like this one just gets looked over a lot and deserves to be known

We have been looking forward to our Idaho rafting trip for a year now…. From what I understand, the salmon river is unique and somewhat less affected from the drought that occurred over much of the west this winter?

Anyways. I just want to manage my expectations- we have a family trip in late July (we have little people going, 7) which is why we chose a later date.

What can we expect water wise this year? Thanks in advance!! Any other fun tips or recs are appreciated as well. We are using ROW.

Hi! I’m an experienced backpacker (I’ve hiked over 600 miles solo) and looking to try a multi-day raft trip (I’ve done several floats, but never overnight). I want to do a multi day trip somewhere in the West US and looking to get some recommendations! I’m open to traveling anywhere on the west coast/Colorado/utah. I don’t want to do a guided trip but would rather start with an easy multi-day float without any large rapids. What rivers/sections might be a good fit? I would need to rent a raft and other necessary gear specific to rafting.

Anyone know of such a thing for shuttles and what not?
