hey guys :3 about a month and a half ago i stumbled upon quikscript, and since the 22nd of june, i've been using it to write in my journal and have been reading back my entries as well.

however, when i first started learning quikscript, i found the rules for spelling a little obtuse and figured that, since i was never going to be really interacting with anyone who uses quikscript (not that it seems to be a very active community anyways lol) i may as well just write how i speak.

Newbie here interested in this English revision. I'm guessing there is character limitations that prevents us from writing this on both pc and mobile?

Slightly off topic:
Has anyone seen the Shavian app on google store? It claims upon in-app purchase, you can use quikscript (and sharvian) on system keyboard. Does anyone have an experience with this app? I wonder if I can use this script with discord on mobile.

I wanna know whether the abbreviated words in QS, are there also for formal writings like books. If QS would become more popular, would books be written in QS Senior or Junior? I am more inclined to believe its Senior but I want your opinions n knowledge, guys. The reason I'm thinking about that is: I'm making an orthography reform for my native greek language but with maintaining the greek alphabet. But also thinking it would be a good idea to have both Senior & Junior of it, one with abbreviations and one without.

Do you guys ever use any QS abbreviations in TS? TS: Tradition Spelling
for example: shd instead of should

I for some time tried to make abbreviations for TS, i didn't stick to anything specific, i liked some abbr. but others i didn't. Some were more iffy, others were pretty smart and profitable.

Hey all, glad to see that there’s an active subreddit for Quikscript!

I began practicing Junior Quikscript in December of 2023, after seeing a great YouTube video by RobWords about Shavian. Most of my handwriting at this point is in Quikscript. I initially used it for quickly writing stock lists, which in my line of work at the time was a serious competitive edge. In order to gain more fluency, I started doing my bullet journal in Quikscript, and then later my note taking and zettelkasten (apologies for being insufferable, I come by it naturally). I only write in Roman script when the writing is for someone else, or if the Roman spelling is actually important - all else is Junior Quikscript. For my uses, I don’t particularly see a need to shift to Senior Quikscript, as what I’m doing is already faster than Roman characters and more legible than Senior.

How about you? Do you use Quikscript as fun party trick? Maybe a way to keep private writing private? How many of you use Quikscript daily, and how did you come to do so? I’m interested in hearing how this system gets around! Bonus photos in the comments showing the progress and uses of my (not exactly standard) handwriting.

Inspired by the Configuratronic Quikscript Cheat Sheet by u/adiabatic, I've made my own take on a customisable chart. This one offers an additional font, extra sets of letter names and sound keys, and offers optional guide lines to help visualise the baseline and waistline (x-height; upper parallel).

If you print the page, only the chart itself will be shown. (and, pro tip: most browsers these days let you save to PDF format through the 'print' interface!)

I'm excited to finally release this typeface that I've been working on intermittently since last December. In fact, I had the original idea for it all the way back in 2018. It's a geometric sans-serif design, with the Latin alphabet in the "Bauhaus)" style which you've probably seen before. I'm pleased with how well I think those design elements can be applied to Quikscript.

There are two styles: one called Quasar and the other (shown here) Quasar Classic. The Classic style has little openings in letters like a, b, g, etc. Both are available as variable fonts, with weight ranging from Thin to Black.

It is probably best considered a "display" rather than a "text" face, although I found Quikscript text surprisingly readable with it; I tested the fonts by using them to proofread two of my transliterated books (including one I'm also releasing today: The Turn of the Screw).

I am at best an amateur calligrapher. Even so, I've been working out the letter forms for a QS calligraphy style. Here is my first draft.

Many of the letters need refinement so they all look like a cohesive style. Now that I have a starting point I can work on those refinements. I'm open to suggestions on how to bring the style together.

Hello, I am new here. I was in the process of learning Shavian when I came across Quikscript, and I’m wondering which I should devote time to learning. I intend to use it mostly for handwriting in my journal (point for QS) but it would also be nice to be able to type it on my phone (𐑖𐑱𐑝𐑾𐑯), which doesn't seem to be a possibility at the moment for QS. Have any of y’all made this choice? and if so, what caused you to pick what you did? (also posting in r/shavian)

Everything is monospaced and super minimal, using no more than five lines for each character. Most QuikScript fonts are modeled after handwriting, but I thought it would be cool to have one that was more rigid. Almost sci-fi. It also uses ligatures for a lot of symbols, so I don’t have to install any special keyboard stuffs to use it. It’s only JrQS, but it’s been great for practice!

I posted this in a reply on the other Quikscript subreddit, but for visibility, I figured I should post it here too.

Ah, what joy she (the gay witch) usually found by putting hexes on exactly three small voles!

I've managed to get it down to only 52 characters with 9 redundancies, and I even incorporated brackets so anyone using it can practice writing them in Quikscript's style!

If anyone has any suggestions or corrections for how I can further refine this or anything else I can add to it, like a way to incorporate Loch or Llan, I'm all ears!

I don't use Ox very often, and likely won't since American English doesn't really use it at all, so instead of needing to hit shift every time I want to use the much more common Owe, I'd prefer Owe to be the default. Is there a way for me to modify the layout to my preference?

Thanks to browsing this subreddit, I found a font and keyboard layout that work well for me, but I'm having trouble getting ligatures to show up in a Word document. I tried the advanced settings for fonts and followed the instructions I found for OpenType support, but nothing seems to be changing. Has anyone else had this issue?
