Community Live Residence Building Availability (SINGLES + SINGLE PLUS ONLY)

Room selection slots are happening right now, and I realized there's no easy way for people to see which residences still have rooms available.

I put together a 30-second Form where you can report how many spots are left in each residence building after your selection time. If enough people contribute, we can build a live picture of what's still available and help everyone make more informed decisions.

Form: https://form.jotform.com/262026552032042
Google Sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DQZmk8wuZTzd89y3oUGUW6B9jT_hB1vjuTQ0be5liZE/edit?gid=1783284051#gid=1783284051

If you don't remember the availability for some of the buildings, still respond! The Google Sheet will update based on the latest number entered for a particular building.

If you've already selected your room, I'd really appreciate it if you could take a moment to fill it out. The more responses we get throughout the selection period, the more useful it'll be for everyone whose time slot is still coming up! :)

Thanks, and hopefully this makes the process a little less stressful for everyone. Share it with as many people as possible!

Community Incoming first years, ask away!

Hey everyone! I was a first-year last year and I know I had a lot of questions about courses, living in res, meal plans, and general campus life so there's anything you're wondering about feel free to drop questions in the comments and I'll try to answer whatever I can! I will say that I don't know much about what residences you'll have a chance of getting based on your selection time, but if you have questions about living in res, dining halls, course selection, I might be able to answer :)

Question CLST 204 and INDG 101

Upvotes

Hi everyone. I had searched online as to whether these two courses have any midterms/finals and couldn't find an answer, so I was hoping someone would be able to provide input on one or both of them!

Also, how are they in terms of difficulty and workload?

Thanks a ton!

Question Are double rooms really that bad?

So residence selection is coming up, and I'm strongly considering choosing a double room. My thinking is that I rot too much in my room, and the worse conditions of a double room would incentivize me to go outside and study in the library or something. If my roommate is horrible or our habits don't line up, that's all the more reason to go outside as well. I'm also prepared for some bad scenarios (I already wear a blindfold to bed and am planning to buy earplugs)

However, everything I've seen is telling me that double rooms are bad and to go for a single or a single plus. How bad are double rooms?

Discussion conditions confirmed over phone?

Upvotes

My Queen’s conditional offer had a To Do item saying “Meet Offer Conditions – Initiated” for about 10 days, and today it disappeared. I called admissions, and they told me my admission had been completely approved earlier today, that I’d receive the official email in the next few days, and that I was admitted. Has anyone else had admissions confirm everything over the phone before the email or SOLUS updated?

Question very worried - considering my future options

Hi all, I hope someone can read this and potentially calm me down but I’m absolutely a wreck rn. It’s on me for not researching enough and making sure I took enough courses during summer I know.

I’m an international student right now, and I have completed courses like ANAT 100, PHGY (170, 215 & 216), HSCI 190, CHEM 281, BCHM 270, CHEM 112, HSCI 270, WRIT 125. I’m entering into my third year now with plans to write the MCAT the summer before my fourth year. I just discovered that Canadian med schools do not accept international students ; at least most of them don’t and the others that do are very limited.

My other option is to apply to US schools, but they require a physics component and more organic chemistry so CHEM 282. I’ve already scheduled PHYS 115 in my fall schedule but i’m not sure for PHYS 116 in winter - and my course load probably won’t be able to accommodate PHYS 116 in winter. I’ll probably spend next summer studying for the MCAT so i can’t really take any course. Right now Im completing a JuneJuly hospital internship so at least my time is being spent well.

Can someone please let me know what I should do? Would I still be able to become a surgeon? I don’t want a scenario where I haven’t completed all my requirements for the US schools by fourth year and I’m already eligible to receive my diploma; I will not be taking a gap year - my parents won’t agree anyways.

Question psych premed

okay so basically im in a bit of a pickle, im a psych major hoping to go to medical school. i have not taken chem/bio in uni or highschool at all. I am a devs minor, would it be a good idea to take bio/chem/anat courses? if so, which ones. i am also worried about fitting those courses into my plan since psych has a lot of second year courses to take as well as devs. is it doable to do 6 courses a semester and take first year bio/chem/anat at the same time as my second year courses this coming year? any advice/guide would be very helpful. (im not very worried about passing bio/anat as i think i will do well in those courses, however i am worried about chem as i have zero backround knowledge whatsoever.)
