Hello everyone,

As regional tensions continue, it is understandable that many people may feel concerned or uneasy. We ask everyone to remain calm and rely only on official announcements and verified information from authorities. Please avoid sharing rumors, speculation, or unconfirmed reports, as this can create unnecessary panic and confusion.

The moderation team is actively working to keep the subreddit safe, organized, and informative for everyone. We are monitoring posts and comments closely, removing content that spreads misinformation, panic, or unsafe details. Our goal is to make sure discussions remain helpful, respectful, and based on reliable information.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation. By staying calm, following the rules, and relying on trusted sources, we can help keep the community safe and the subreddit running smoothly for everyone...

For everyone’s safety, please be responsible with what you post online:

Do not share sensitive media

  • Do not share photos or videos of incidents, security activity, or affected areas.
  • Such content can unintentionally reveal sensitive information and may put others at risk.

Do not share or identify locations

  • Avoid mentioning or identifying specific locations connected to events.
  • Do not describe buildings, neighborhoods, or facilities related to incidents or security activity.

Do not speculate

  • Avoid speculation about ongoing situations, responses, or operations.
  • Unverified information spreads panic and confusion.

Protect people’s safety and privacy

  • Do not ask about the whereabouts of individuals during incidents or evacuations.
  • Do not discuss movements or locations of evacuated people.
  • Sharing or requesting this type of information can put people in real danger.

Be cautious with private messages

  • Do not respond to strangers asking about specific areas, buildings, infrastructure, or local situations in your DMs.
  • Some individuals or organizations may attempt to gather sensitive information through private conversations.
  • Keep discussions in public threads where the community and moderators can monitor them.

Support the community

  • If someone is feeling anxious, encourage them to stay calm and follow official sources.
  • Avoid amplifying fear or panic.
  • Continue normal routines where possible and avoid unnecessary travel unless authorities advise otherwise.

Emergency guidance

  • If evacuation procedures are announced in the future, follow official instructions.
  • Do not share or request sensitive operational details.
  • If you believe official instructions apply to you, contact 999 for guidance.

Moderator Note | Emergency Safety Rule

r/qatar now enforces the Emergency Safety Rule. During sensitive situations:

Due to current regional tensions, do not post or share unverified information, rumors, or speculation about security incidents. Do not ask for, hint at, or share locations related to missile interceptions, attacks, military activity, emergency responses, or sensitive infrastructure.

Do not ask other users about locations, areas, buildings, or directions connected to incidents. Requests like these can endanger people and expose sensitive information.

Photos, videos, live updates, or descriptions that could reveal locations are strictly prohibited. Do not attempt to gather such information through comments or private messages.

Rely only on official announcements and verified sources. Violations will result in content removal and may lead to temporary or permanent bans.

Question Rent cheque deposited early, now I have a bounced cheque record. What can I do?

I’ve rented with my current apartment for 2+ years and they normally deposit my rent cheque around the 28th or onwards, the cheques are dates 28th also.

This month it was deposited today on the 22nd and bounced. The date on the cheque, 28th July, was filled in by their agent, not me, so the cashier mentioned he saw it as 22 didn’t sit right with me. Now I’ve been charged QAR 400 and got a Qatar Credit Bureau record.

I’ve emailed them but no response.
Can I hold them liable if their agent wrote the wrong date? And if they ignore me, do I have any other options?

Rant Being a pedestrian in Qatar is basically an extreme sport 😂

Post image
133 Upvotes

I’ve come to the conclusion that pedestrian crossing buttons in Qatar are just there for emotional support.
You press the button… wait… and absolutely nothing happens.
Then you find a zebra crossing, thinking, “Finally, a safe place to cross.”

The cars: “That’s cute.” 🚗💨

At this point, I don’t know what’s more decorative:

-The pedestrian buttons.
-The zebra crossings.
-Or my confidence that someone will actually stop

Respect to everyone who walks here. We’re basically playing real-life Frogger every time we need to cross the road. 😂

Anyone else feel like the pedestrian is always the lowest priority?

Dears, is there anyone who applied to Schengen visa through VFS Italy in Doha?

I’ve been checking their website daily for the last a fee weeks but it’s impossible to find an appointment. There is always a warning saying “no available slots, please check again later”.

I appreciate if anyone has any suggestions on this.

Discussion Modesty/Public Interaction/Flirting Spoiler

Am I overthinking this or was this guy completely out of line?

I live in Qatar, so I'm aware that modesty is important here. I was on my way to the gym wearing high-waisted sports leggings and a cropped sweater over it. The sweater covered my upper body, so no skin was showing.

I took the metro, and when I got off, this guy who initially said hi in elevator started following me. At first I tried not to engage, but he kept walking alongside me and making conversation. He was very talkative and honestly pretty charming. He started making conversation, said he'd intentionally gotten off at the wrong station, knew about my country, wanted to visit someday, listed foods from my country he'd tried, and generally seemed friendly.

He walked with me for about 7 minutes before turning back to return to the station. During that time, he asked for my number, and I gave it to him because I didn't really see any harm in it. (Looking back, maybe I shouldn't have.)

At one point, he invited me to his hotel room. I immediately declined.

Later, he texted me asking what I was doing. I said I was having dinner, and he replied, "You're not going to lose any weight with that." I told him losing weight wasn't my goal.

Then the conversation took a weird turn.

He started saying I was the kind of woman who dresses "fresh" to attract men and get compliments. I acted confused because... what? Then he told me men have weaknesses and basically implied that the way I was dressed was sending the wrong message.

That really bothered me.

Yes, I was wearing gym clothes because I was literally going to the gym. They were fitted, but I wasn't showing skin, and I wasn't dressed up to get attention. Even if I had been, I don't think that would justify someone assuming my intentions or lecturing me about men's self-control.

The thing that's bothering me most is that he was perfectly happy to flirt with me, ask for my number, and invite me to his hotel room. But after I turned him down, suddenly my clothing became a problem and apparently I was dressing for male attention?

I've had men follow me after getting off the metro before, but usually once I show I'm not interested, they leave me alone. This guy was unusually persistent, and I eventually gave in and talked because he seemed harmless.

Was I wrong anywhere in this situation? Would you have handled it differently? I'm mostly posting because the whole interaction left me feeling uncomfortable and confused..

Had to ask AI, help editing 😂

Discussion Why are there so many negative stories about dating Egyptian men?

Women who’ve dated Egyptian men living in Qatar what was your experience like?

I’ve been reading a lot online, and honestly, there seem to be so many horror stories. A lot of people describe Egyptian men as charming at first but inconsistent, emotionally unavailable, avoidant, or even leading double lives.

I’m wondering whether this is simply because people are more likely to share negative experiences, or if there’s a cultural element I’m missing.

I’d really appreciate hearing both positive and negative stories. Please keep it respectful I’m genuinely trying to understand, not stereotype anyone.

Also Egyptian men, what do you think women misunderstand about dating Egyptian men?
