Here’s a Labyrinth 1986 parody sketch featuring Boglins puppets.

Made with love for Jim Henson and David Bowie.

Are there any puppeteers who are also wedding officiants in the state of New York?

My fiancé and I would like to get married via a puppet show. We live on long island but we can also go to NYC or upstate (preferably somewhere within a two hour drive to Syracuse if upstate). Reply if you know anyone or you are that person; thanks!

Making a finger/hand puppet?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I love finger and hand puppets, and operating them is a lot of fun, but I was wondering how to make one in a non-muppet-esque style if you get what I mean? I love the puppets in grim tales, the storyteller etc. I've drawn a diagram of what I mean - I have made stop motion puppets (barely functional lol) before, and have never done any woodwork or anything so I can't envisage how to go about making something like this.

Hi my film is online now!

Pug’s Place is a musical puppet film that tells the story of Pug, the host of a children’s television show who every day is asked a question, and every day supplies an answer to the viewers at home. However, when Pug is asked the question “Why Do We Exist?” what follows is a journey of music, comedy, and existential dread. Pug struggles to supply his audience with an answer and in the process comes to terms with his own existence and purpose

Puppets for RPG/D&D performance

I’ve heard that a group of puppeteers are going to be playing D&D on stage, Dimension 20/Critical Role style, this autumn. Yes, with puppets. Evidently they even have conventions just for RPG puppets. But nobody will tell me what size puppets they will be using, whether with marionettes or rod puppets, or any other details. Anyone know anything about this?

Does somebody still own it? Was it thrown out? Or did it get recycled for parts?

my personal lost media is that girl on instagram

Hi !

I've quit instagram for quite a long time now (like one year maybe) but when i was there back then i was following a girl who was a puppeter, and made them as well. She was dressed in a light gothic style, and made videos with very little talk to show how she made the puppets and to show her art and the comissions she had made for people. The puppets were quite realistic and the comissions were often characters of movies, series, comics, or singers etc. I can recall that there was a lot of Tim Burton characters. Last cue : the videos were in english, and i was in france. I'm guessing she was probably british.

She had her own signature, you could clearly see she did a puppet, I was really amazed by her work.

I know my description is very vague, but if anyone has an idea of who she could be, a link to an insta page or to a website, i would really be grateful !!

Thank you in advance for all your answers !

Rebuilding Puppet

Hey everyone,

I hope someone can help me out. About 9 months ago, I started to build my first hand puppet. It took me about 8–10 weeks and countless hours of work, but I ended up with a character that I became very attached to.

To be honest, I never intended to get into puppet building in the first place. My wife and I had the stupid idea of creating a fictional character for social media who teaches language and cultural topics. We know these kinds of accounts exist, but we wanted to give him a certain annoying and at the same time adorable personality. Working on him, I learned a lot about puppets and I even taught myself some basic sewing skills for his cloths and I just became really invested. Today, the character has a small, but growing audience online, and creating content for him or his community has become one of my major interests. Finally, people seem to value something, that I am passionate about myself.

By now, I have started to worry about him (the puppet) himself. He was my first build and there are a few flaws that don’t bother me right now, but may become more problematic in the future and let’s face it: he will not last forever. Therefore, I have been thinking about having him professionally rebuilt. I would like to preserve or recreate his appearance and personality while improving his quality. In a perfect world, his viewers would barely notice the transition but I realize that may not be possible.

Does anyone know professional puppet builders that take on projects like this?

For context:
The puppet is operated by hand and is kind of similar to an Elmo-style puppet. He represents a real animal rather than a human character and he currently has arms (one controlled with a stick), but no legs.

I am based in Germany, but of course I would be open to working internationally if necessary. I know this was a long text, but thank you for reading and any support would be appreciated. I am currently travelling, so I might not be able to respond right away…

Modeling a Blinking Mech

Does anyone here know about modeling a slider based eye mech for 3D printing? I have a slider ready to go. I'm just not sure how to go about the rest of it. I would love to learn how to model one myself if at all possible.
