The Enterprise E and Worf are summoned to the planet Prometheus takes place on. Because of some weird sensor readings Data is the only one who can beam down to the planet. Can he survive the crashed Engineer ship and the black goo?

I think Data discovers the black goo and the dead Engineer and makes a note of them in his log. He recommends sending out a class 3 probe until a proper science vessel can study the planet. In the meanwhile he quarantines the black goo in a container that can only be opened by commanders in Star fleet.

I don't think Star Fleet is dumb enough to infect themselves with the black goo or bring the Engineer back to life.
