Nine days from the U.S. to Germany! Not bad. My first five went to Germany, I just drew my sixth address and got Germany again. As much as I hate to do it, I decided to switch off the multiple cards traveling to the same country setting. Once my limit goes up a bit I’ll probably turn it back on.

I need people from Germany to give me advice. 🙏🏻

In the Postcrossing community in my country, people sometimes buy and sell postcards to each other. I also create and sell my own postcards, and since I’ll be moving to Germany soon, I’m curious about how this works there.

(if your’re from Germany and your English is not good, I included tl;dr at the end of the post in german for you:)

Is it common for Postcrossers in Germany to sell postcards to other collectors? More importantly, is this completely legal? If you occasionally sell postcards from your own collection, is the money you receive considered fine from a legal and tax perspective, or are there specific rules you should be aware of?

From my experience, this kind of exchange has never been an issue where I currently live. People regularly buy and sell postcards among themselves without any complications.

I’d really appreciate any insights, especially from people living in Germany who have experience selling their own cards or buying from other Postcrossers. :)

Today I received a hateful postcard towards my country? It wasn't specifically directed at me, but rather the place I live and I am from lol.. While I can understand this person may be frustrated with the politics of my country I was a bit taken aback from their message. Not sure if I should report or just ignore. Never received such a message written on what seemed to be a normal postcard. 😅

I’m new to post crossing and was wondering if it’s frowned upon to send out postcards that have artistic nudity (not full nudity, but things like bare breasts on women, nude backs etc.)

For reference I purchased a postcard book full of Renoir paintings before I even started post crossing and Renoir loved painting his subjects naked. I wouldn’t consider it profane but then again and I’m a former art student so my views on nudity in art might be different than others.

I’m just wondering if it would be offensive/frowned on to send out some of these postcards or if I should just stick to other cards and keep these ones in my stash. Any advice is helpful!

I’m relatively new to postcrossing. I bought a bunch of vintage looking postcards (“greetings from” my state) and have been sending them to everyone. Most people seem to really like them but is this frowned upon? I haven’t had any complaints or anything.

I’m reviewing my “traveling” cards and one that I sent to Russia from the U.S. about a month ago hasn’t arrived. This in and of itself seems normal to me - I would expect it to take a few months.

But just out of curiosity I went to the recipients profile to see how long other postcards took to reach them from the U.S. - They’ve registered about 100 postcards over the past couple years, and zero are from the U.S. That strikes me as odd considering how many postcards get sent from the U.S.

Anyone have insight here? I see other Russians registering US postcards!

Hello, im currently setting up my account and I wanted a little guidance cus I was kind of confused.

At first my understanding was that you needed a stamp on the postcards, but then in the gallery on the website I didn’t see a single stamp, but on Reddit I thought I had seen some that were covered in stamps. Can someone explain this part to me?

I also saw a post of someone including some things with their post cards like a sheet of stickers, so are we supposed to use envelopes or no?

Anything else that I should know would be appreciated as well, I’m trying to learn.

Has anyone purchased discounted denominated stamps from Mystic Stamp Company. It sounds like a great way to subsidize Postcrossing.

e.g. Discount Postage, 100 Sets for International Rate - $125.00 (Paying $125.00 for $175.00 value in stamps - a 28% discount). It sounds good if you can use them up before the next rate increase. My only concern is, depending on the denominations provided - squeezing all the stamps onto the postcard. Your thoughts are appreciated.

I’m subscribed to a few mail clubs and all of them send 5x7 postcards instead of the usual 4x6. I feel weary about sending them because of the size does this bother most people? And if I do send them, can I use a postcard stamp for US or would i have to use a normal forever stamp?

Hello! I need some advice from people have successfully sent collage cards through the mail before.

I have a Postcrossing recipient in Japan who loves stamp collage postcards, so I made one. I've never sent one before, though, and I want to be certain it will make it to the recipient!

Here's the layout: There is no postage on the address side except an international mail stamp. There's a mostly single layer collage of stamps decorating the front of the card, well-afixed and quite thin. Will that send okay as-is, or should I put it in an envelope?

I started this in August last year and I got my 100th card today! (and it was my first from Hong Kong.) here are other cards I received recently and some unicorns from on the back.
