My whole life I was told by my capitalist, republican, MAGA dad that socialism is the equivalent of communism. I know he is wrong though, because countries that have adopted democratic socialism like the Nordic ones - Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, and Sweden - have been very successful. I would be open to the US adopting similar policies and ideologies.

The problem is come election time a lot of uneducated voters will tie democratic socialist to communism. They have been told their whole lives that communism is bad, so they will vote against their best interests. Any politician that wants to win nationally will have to make sure that people understand the difference. I would love for healthcare for all and the other things mentioned.
