Discussion Rust should make matchmaking

Upvotes

If every update is going to weaken solo players then there should be a matchmaking system to help solo players team up. Most solo players are just new players who havent found a group yet or cant because they dont have the 8k hours required to join even the most basic of clans. If they want to keep making the game terrible for new players, letting the game die then they should make it so that we can matchmake with other players so we dont just get farmed by the groups of the server,

Discussion FP is catering to cheaters, not clans.

The complaint I've seen several make here is that Facepunch is building Rust around big clans. That's the surface. The reality is Facepunch is catering to cheaters.

A cheater buys Rust, gets banned, and buys it again on a new account, maybe also paying 15 for premium each time. Every ban is another sale. Rust runs about $47 in the UK and about $17 in Ukraine, so where the game is cheapest a ban barely costs anything. A clan running several cheaters at once burns through accounts and replaces them, which makes one clan worth many times what a fair player is worth.

Garry's Mod and Chippy makes very little, s&box is too new to judge but they have less concurrency than a single rust server, and Rust Mobile still isn't out. Everything rides on one game based on their filings. A studio with several products can afford to ban a cheater indefinitely. It seems a studio running on one game can't.

In September 2025, Rust brought in around £88 million, which should have been their best year. Instead they posted a loss, because roughly £38 million went out in a single payment to an entity the filings don't name. That's close to half of what Rust earned. Without it they would have posted record profits. Maybe its shareholder, a vendor, maybe its one time, but we should all be concerned that they lost 2M plus with 88M in revenue. Again, this is speculative, but they could have named the purpose in their filing and chose not to.

In June 2025 Facepunch made that rebuy path official, that was three months before the end of their financial year. There is only one of two things happening here in my opinion, they aren't doing well financially, or they are insanely greedy.

I think direction is FiveM or 2B2T, where nearly every player cheats or hacks the client. Facepunch also hired a developer from the Carbon community who was working on client-side plugins. Carbon is backend, server side by design. Backend isn't where cheating happens. Client is. (C4C)

None of this has to be deliberate. It continues because nobody at Facepunch has a financial reason to stop it. These actions are where a game stops belonging to the community playing it and starts being a vehicle to maximize profit. I'm all for FP getting paid, but if they have to use cheaters to prop their company up or cater to them, its at the expense of every player that isn't cheating and thats fucked up.

I got about 200 hrs in the game now I’ve practiced aim training all that but on high pop servers I can’t get any kills I just spawn and die to every fight, seems everyone can hit headshots except me. I deadass just lost 15 fights in a row and uninstalled tips to get better?

Question The coming powergrid update?

If videos are true, normal recyclers will not function without the powergrid being engaged at powerplant, only safe zone recyclers will function.

Thoughts?

Question Are we excited for basements in rust?

From the code log and the roadmap it seems like they're (atleast) developing a basement block to be placeable in bases, would this be a good thing or would it completely ruin the building?

Question Why don't people use suicide bunkers with automated loot transfer?

I use these a ton as a solo and I'm curious as to why people don't?, it's super easy to wire up and requires just one solar panel and one small battery, you just connect two dropboxes into your tc room with industrials and power, and then into a box and the tc and then seal the suicide bunker with a wall, voila, all your shit instantly goes into your TC or the box if it's not a material and it's zero hassle for a ton of protection.

Discussion Walls needing upkeep. Finally

I find that update very good. I play only monthly servers and there´s nothing more annoying then clans walling off whole areas or islands, then quit or getting raided and the walls stay and cut off huge areas of the map.

Discussion Rust's S*icide

Rust has folded and changed every aspect of their game, that they swore they never would. It's become a fortnite, pop wall forts up when you get shot, adding constant BLOAT to the game that no one asks for, wants, or wishes to constantly upgrade their PC's for something they've owned and bought at an advertised level of performance. After the 1.0 it is absurd to keep updates rolling that would force customers to upgrade their systems, that run the game perfectly fine at it's purchase. I feel like they are trying to run off the old school players so that they can cater to fortnite kids who shouldn't even be playing an adult title.

Support is my laptop really not capable of running this game?

Support The PVP in this game is just exhausting

The PVP in this game has just become fucking exhausting. I am so fucking tired of killing the same people over just for them to run back instantly. Groups should have respawn timers based when a teammate dies. Shit has become so fucking stupid when everyone just roams a single fucking grid nowadays

Discussion New sat dish crash site - the cheese strat

Hey all! Here is a guide to to the new crash site monument - have your teammate step outside your base a bit (that way the satellite can land) and then have him put down an auto turret FOB, and then call in the crash site - boom all the loot you could ever want!

Option 2 - build a large circle of high externals outside of your base(because you can’t land it on a base from what I read) , out of tc coverage including one gate, and then make the satellite dish crash into that circle

Thank you for listening to my in depth guide on how to cheese the new sat dish crash site event.

See you all next wipe!
