So this little girl roamed into our salt shed & we immediately brought her in to our shop, gave her some water & chicken feed. She’s been eating & urinating consistently.
My coworker has chickens & is willing to take her in. I’m a little concerned about her overall health, she has all of these lesions & scab like markings all over her body & I feel so sad for her. I’m assuming she fell off a transport truck & felt our shed looked similar to a barn. We do not know how long she has been in there & if she’s chipped or anything, not even her age.
Her vulva appears inflamed, she has tiny droplets of blood in her urine but does not seem to struggle to do it. I don’t know if my coworker will take her to the vet but god I pray he does.

My boy seems to only wanna lay/sleep in his litter box. But has a designated spot to poop/pee. I have moved the litter box to that spot. Even changed his litter. Should I try puppy pads in the litter box? Any advice TIA

Just making this post cause iv seen lots of people ask for advice for sick piggies and not alot of people know that you can get pet insurance for your pig. They are considered exotic so you will have to call an agent, cant just set it up online but its easy and they might request to access vet documentation from the pigs vet.

I love seeing all these pics of cozy indoor piggies with their other animal friends…but I can’t help but wonder, even with being housebroken, how clean can these guys possibly be? I say this with genuine affection cause I love pigs. But it’s not like they groom their nether regions like a cat or dog would (or even care how dirty they may be), and they don't squat when they poop (or do they?)...so what do y’all do about poopy butts in the house? Is butt cleaning just part of the pet pig experience?

I have two very sweet older boys. Since covid, the vet will no longer make house calls for tusk trimming, & I have no way to transport them without unnecessary stress & due to their size. We are in the rural southeast US. I’ve learned to trim them myself as the boys are not aggressive, but am not happy with the quality of gigli saws/wires available online. They frequently break with minimal friction causing the whole ordeal to take longer than necessary. What are you all using or purchasing? I’m also wondering if anyone knows someone near the gulf coast who makes house calls for tusk & hoof trimming. Thank you!

Thinking about getting a pet pig. What type should I get? I have cats, so what changes should I make for my house and living style?
Context: I live in a rural home with a screened in porch and an outside patio that is fenced off. I actually live in pretty good conditions for a pig, I think. A downstairs for the cats to hide in where the pig can't get, a closed-off room for the pig. My main question is what breed I should get.

I got two potbelly pigs a little over two weeks ago. The past few nights there have been dust storms and two days ago I noticed that one of my pigs third eyelid began to bulge out in one eye. I checked out my other pig yesterday and I noticed he also had this in one eye. I bought Vetericyn Plus Livestock Pink Eye Spray and it came in this morning. I am not sure if something else is wrong or it’s the dust storms. Any advice would be appreciated!!

We have been fostering Teddy for a while now.He is one of the most awesome pigs i've ever been around!
He came from pretty bad conditions where they were feeding him, dog food and he was on an eight by twelve concrete slab. It took a while to get him to eat regular pig food, but now he gets pig food and plenty of fruits and veggies every day!❤️🐷

I mean this with the best of intentions but I see almost toxic negativity on FB about peoples pet pigs being “too fat”. Wiggy has A LOT of viatnamese genetics. Hes not like a Julianna or Kune Kune. He’s meant to have a “pot belly”, sway in his back, big jows etc. I see so many people posting photos of their pigs and people telling new pig owners your pig is too fat. That’s insane. They are all interbred mini pigs and have mixed genetics. Someone may have a smaller pig, taller pig, longer pig, shorter pig, larger pig etc. If your pig is on an appropriate diet DO NOT starve it to stay small or skinny. Feed it what it’s suppose to eat in the amount it’s suppose to eat. Imagine someone doing this to humans (they do) and it’s not a good vibe. We’re all different and our biology is different.

I was originally against getting pigs, I thought they would be dirty and hard to care for, but boy was I wrong. This is Oinkers and Chunkers, and they’re so adorable! Oinkers is a boy and he’s always excited and wiggly, he’s always shuffling around and loves being near people. I love his little teeth and his hairy face, he looks like a cute little Wolfman sometimes.
Chunkers is his big sister, and she’s more of a lumbering loaf. She pretty much always waddles over to you just to flop over on her side expecting belly rubs. I love her big chubby cheeks too, I always give them little pinches and hold them in my hands lol.
Chunkers is a big fatty and sometimes she bullies Oinkers and tries to steal his food but they both love each other at the end of the day. They’re just so sweet and I love them both :)
