Alternative to Gator G2 for pavers over concrete

Hi! Is there a better product than Gator? Client doesn’t want to use adhesive or cement. We keep having issues with the Gator not setting correctly - thanks!

Belgard origins - silex

We are close to pulling the trigger on this paver. I’m struggling to find photos of real life examples of this Belgard style/color. Wanted to ask if anyone has installed this one/ if you have photos. I wanted more a taupe brown and my husband wanted blue slate - so this seems like a good in between.

Using Brock PaverBase in place of Road Base Class II?

I am planning to remove grass and install pavers in 6 x 14‘ area which will mostly have only light foot traffic.

I was thinking of using 4” road base class II 3/4” gravel.

Someone suggested me to use Brock PaverBase. That way I don’t have to buy a lot of gravel and get it delivered and it will become easy for a DIYer.

Any suggestions? Pros and cons of both?

Grout maintenance

Not sure how long ago the work was performed, but for sure less than 20 years, more than 5. I’d like to get it cleaned up and reduce vegetation in the grout.

Are there any guides or recommendations to maintain and fill the grout? The brick sections look like they were never filled. Is this normal?

Edging question

I used Brock paver panels. My edging depth is about and inch below my pavers, should I dig deeper before putting the concrete down? I do plan on slanting it. Also can I put the concrete over the weed fabric or should I cut it ? Thx

Can I succeed in laying the pavers with no bedding?

Hello everyone,

Do you think it is feasible to install porcelain pavers directly over a well-compacted, reasonably level aggregate base without using the commonly recommended 3/8-inch washed angular chip bedding layer?

The area will be used for foot traffic only. Beneath the pavers, I have approximately 6 inches of well-compacted 3/4-inch washed aggregate. So far, I have been able to screed and level the aggregate reasonably well and have laid a few test pavers on top. They appear stable and do not wobble, although they are not perfectly level, which I am comfortable with.

I am not trying to cut corners or avoid using the bedding layer for cost reasons. I ma just learning as I go along and I do have some Chiprock coming to test the difference. I am simply curious whether anyone has successfully installed porcelain pavers directly over a compacted aggregate base without the bedding layer and had good long-term results.

Thank you.

Follow-up Question: after the 3/8 screeded and leveled bedding: do I run a plate compactor over the pavers?

Paver sand too thick?

Post image

Dug too low in this area, my leveling sand is about 2” thick. It’s only supposed to be 1/2” or 1”. My question is , should I add more compacted dirt underneath? I feel like if I keep the sand at 2” it will eventually move/sag/shift. Any suggestions, thx

Weekend Warrior Remedy?

It’s a long story (isn’t always, LOL). During Covid I tore down the deck which had failed due to no flashing by original builder. Replaced with trex. My wife had both hips replaced in 2021. So I installed her a hot tub. Poured the pad when all the current pavers had been removed. MY FAULT: I DID NOT PULL A TAPE OFF THE GARAGE!!! So when when I installed the pavers, my angle and lines were off where the retaining wall for the pad and the pavers meet. SO… I was thinking exposed aggregate, or a concrete pour and adding river rock on the top… or am open to other ideas. Would cut the pavers to be parallel with retaining wall…or consider other solutions from the experts. I am a weekend warrior with just enough knowledge to be stubborn and dangerous! Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Does anyone know what these pavers are called? Im in florida and everyone wants over $10 sqft to install. I at least want to know how much of that price is materials but have no idea how to tell what the pavers themselves cost! Thank you!

Paver Install - Prep question

Looking at installing marble or travertine pavers on our lanai in southwest florida. We currently have stamped concrete. They will be installing on top of the stamped concrete. One person is saying they will grind the stamped concrete, the other is applying thinset. Is one superior to the other or are they both the same?

Polypropylene Paver base panels over paver base gravel?

Post image

I’m expanding our patio and my backyard is hard to get to and I’m thinking about the hassle to drop a couple of yards of paver base to my house. Could I just spread out the previously used gravel to the new section and place paver panels over it?

I installed Tech Bloc Greyed Nickel Blue 60. I used Alliance Gator Super Bond polymeric sand Slate Grey for sand. My pavers' color changed after sanding. How can we fix discoloration? Please suggest.
