Discussion Kresley Cole, New Book July 28. Spinoff of Immortals After Dark.

KC is releasing Book 1 of {Immortals Untold Series by Kresley Cole}.

{Ravenous by Kresley Cole} Special edition available.

{Immortals After Dark Series by Kresley Cole} remains one of my top five series of any genre, and will always be on my re-read shelf.

{Lothaire by Kresley Cole} became a book boyfriend long before his book was released. He's so deliciously morally grey.

It's been Twenty years since the release of {The Warlord Wants Forever by Kresley Cole} and {A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole}. It's past time for Nyx's book, so maybe soon.

Anyone else a fan?

Recommendation request Recommendations for Fated Mates and/or Ayakashi brides

Preferably a manga, but am looking for a fated mate (like Dragonkin, Beastkin) or even an ayakashi bride type of suggestions where the fated mate and/or bride is reluctant/hesitant to be with the other party.

Like no immediate “yes whisk me away!” I want the angst and slow burn. (Bonus points if the fml doesn’t come from a shitty family/origin either, but I know that’s a stretch.)

Please & thank you 💕

Recommendation request Contemporary Paranormal Romance where SHE’S the non-human?

Contemporary paranormal romance is filled with tough monster MMCs and soft normal FMCs, but I’m

I’ve been looking for something along these lines for a while now. I’m looking for an M/F paranormal romance (preferably vampire romance) where the FMC is the paranormal one, and the MMC is normal, and preferably the gentle caring type. I’d also really appreciate if it WASN’T a poly/harem/reverse-harem situation, at least for the two main characters.

For a few other less-important non-dealbreaker, I’d like for it to be in a contemporary setting. I’d also like it if the fmc was the strong/assertive type. Any spice level is fine, the dynamic is what I’m mostly looking for.

I’ve already read Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake, and while I appreciate that it hits a lot of those points, it loses points by how damn *edgy* the MMC is. It’s borderline unbearable.

I thank you in advance!

Do you know this book... ? Help finding a book/series

This is an oldie. Think early 2000s (06 is when I came into contact with it) or late 90s.

Its paranormal urban fantasy. Vampires def and I think the FL was some sort of hybrid or turned hybrid because of her mate. She was either pregnant or just had a baby and he was gone but came back to check on her. He was keeping her hidden for her sake cause if she was found she'd be killed. One of the main scenes I remember she went out to meet him and they ended up having sex right there in the driveway or something. I think they even dented the hood of a car or a truck. I remember it was hot as fuck tho. It was either a 2nd or 3rd in a series but they were definitely the main couple.

I remember very little but it's haunted me forever.

I know this is very little to go on but I'm hoping. I don't speak to the person who introduced me to the book anymore and I can't contact them as I don't have facebook anymore but literally any help with this is appreciated thank youuuu.

Discussion Shifters that don't turn into an animal or mythical creature?

Have you ever read a story with a humanoid shifter? I'm looking for stories with a shifter that doesn't turn into a wolf/lycan, dragon, demon, etc. I feel like this may be more common in omegaverse shifter romances. I have read something like it before, but only twice, and one of those stories is now deleted, and I cant remember the other.

I believe they turn into the "beast version" of themselves. Like they "swell up", get taller, bigger, broader, eyes change, and they become filled with power and/or rage.

Does anybody know of characters like this? I am open to references on Wattpad and AO3 as well.

NO HAREM/POLY!!!

Thanks

Recommendation request Nerdy Werewolf?

Does anyone have a M/F recommendation where the MMC is a nerdy werwolf? Would love a scientist werwolf. Would prefer the MMC not be a jerk. No SA or cheating please.

I've read the Cuddle Clause already. And while I liked it, I would prefer to avoid that "author" now that I know they're not a real person.

Do you know this book... ? Looking werewolf romance series - she wolf that runs away from mate, bumps into future brother in law, there's a tricky moon god/goddess in the series, a special nomadic wolf pack only reachable by portal, alternate time lines, vampires introduced later on too. I'd like to read the series again .

I remember an amazing series of books that I wanted to share with someone but can't remember the name. Hoping someone else here has read it too...

First story is about she wolf. The alpha of a different pack visits and he realized she is his mate and she runs away. She runs far and ends up in the fated mate's brother in law's territory. Her mate catches up and finds her. They bond. She feels attraction for her brother in law too.

She has a strange bloodlust and so does her brother in law. And in a lot of ways she can relate with him better. Forget how, but in book 2 i believe, she discovers that in an alternate time line, she was actually supposed to be with him.

As the story continues, I think there's also a lake where she retrieves a key or trumpet. She also ends up visiting the moon god (i think it was a god and not goddess) realm and she's mad him. He's a bit of a jerk and a trickster.

Later on in the series we follow a different she-wolf and she and her mate end up in a different territory/establishing their own territory,, they have a friend that grew up with a nomadic group of werewolves with special abilities, I think and they need to reach these nomadic wolves because of their special abilities.

And vampires are thought to be a myth (kinda ironic lol), but they discover they're real and they set traps in their territory. Then they discover the vampires and the werewolves are invited to a vampire ball dance at the vampires castle.

Hopefully someone recognizes the story and I hope I'm not mixing up 2 different series 😅🤣

Recommendation request Villain (not the mmc) is a supernatural entity romantically (creepily)obsessed with the fmc. Mmc and Fmc has to defeat him...

Hey guys! I'm looking for a certain type of story, most commonly seen in horror movies. But I'd love if you guys have a paranormal romance rec like this.

Where the main theme is about toxic obsession vs actual love.

For example: Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) has this plot..The villain is a vampire is obsessed with the fmc, who is happily married to the mmc. And mmc and fmc has to defeat the villain..

What lies beneath (2000) also has similar plot, but with gender switch.

I want a story where the villain's obsessed with achieving the fmc in a very creepy way. He's willing to destroy anyone who'd come between him and the fmc.

But fmc doesn't want him, and eventually defeats him.

TV / Movies Happy Birthday to the movie Ghost (1990) Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore

Post image
15 Upvotes

Some interesting facts about the movie:

The screenplay for 'Ghost' was by Bruce Joel Rubin who had a strong interest in themes of the afterlife. Hollywood studios didn't think a ghost romance thriller comedy would actually work.

Jerry Zucker who was known for spoof comedies like Airplane! and Naked Gun became the director.

Paramount didn't even want Patrick Swayze at first.

Whoopi Goldberg was only in it because Swayze and Demi Moore basically forced the studio to hire her. Thank god they did because she was great and won an Oscar for it.

Ghost set the blueprint for so many paranormal romances we love today.

Does the movie still hold up for you today? For me it definitely does.

Rant/Vent Does this get better? Spoilers Spoiler

I am trying {Hunted by the Demon’s Vow by A.N Caudle}. The plot sounded interesting, might be a slow burn with some good heat…ok I will be patient, let it build, being positive…

There seems to be a premise that >!nobody can know who is a demon in this land, by threat of death. Seems bad. I mean real bad, death is bad am I right? But the MMC’s name is Daemon. I cannot get past that the author chose to have his parents name him, at birth, swaddled him, kissed his sweet cheeks and named him Daemon. In the land. In which Demons are hid.<!

Help! Will this make sense or will I perpetually be picturing his parents thinking, ‘no wait..here is an idea for a name for our baby.’

Recommendation request What's something good for someone who likes the Halo books?

It's pretty rare for me to read and for a little over a year now I've mostly just been listening to audio books of the Halo books and especially love the style of Kelly Gay. Honestly the only book I've really gotten super into that would fit here is The Dragon's Bride by Katee Robert. I also do know from things like short stories that I really like when it gives detailed descriptions for genitals and especially male. Yall have any good recommendations?

Discussion Looking for books about romance (or has some romance) between human MMC and Werewolf FMC

Ik I've probably made a post where I shared the list of the type of books I'm collecting,

https://www.reddit.com/r/paranormalromance/comments/1twuz4s/the_list_of_romance_between_a_fmc_werewolf_and/

HOWEVER, I'm posting again to maybe ask you guys if you know any more about this type.

I do already have the golden ingots in the shelf that most people know about, but I'm asking if someone might know if I could find more of those gold ores in the dirt.

Just Looking for books that's about a human MMC falling for werewolf FMC, or the other way around. It can be a wolf shifter, or a beast that turns during full moon. But I don't seek any books that contains the part where MMC later becomes a werewolf.

If you know one, pls share it in the comments, I would really appreciate it.

I really would like to put more to my list:

Recommendation request Suggestions of less romance known books like these authors:

So I’ve officially read the last Suzanne Wright book I had left of her and now I feel lost on what to do next. She’s a very formulaic author but all her stories are creative enough to make it interesting imo and since I have occasional anxiety I find comfort in knowing the first kiss happens at (example) 20%, first sex at 40%, full love confession/commitment at 70%. I know for some people that would make it dull, but I enjoy that occasionally and don’t mind it overall at all.

I LOVE her books because every single one of her female characters gives NO shit, doesn’t let people push her around, is rational and sensible most times and is a total badass. It’s so so refreshing because I can no longer stand the abused weakling trope where she has to build herself up in the books. It’s just really not for me. I like to not get agitated/annoyed with my FMCs.

She’s my favorite in the paranormal/fantasy romance space alongside Felicity Heaton Eternal Mates series which I ADORED.

I really liked the Shadow Beast Shifters books by Jaymin Eve, with the exception of the first 40%-50% of her book 1 which I strongly disliked. (It contained a scene where her mate that rejected her has sex with another woman in front if her so I just kinda skipped about 20-30% of the book until I was past that arc. I just mention that so you know I dislike that kind it stuff in books.

Another I liked was Kresley Cole and her Immortals After Dark series.

I also enjoyed most of Nalini Singh books but I can’t lie I got a bit tired of her psy-changeling books. I read most of the original series (like 13ish books plus 4 in the Trinity series) so I currently have no interest in more of this world.

I’ve read Stay a Spell by Juliette Cross, and I struggled getting through it.
It was way too much like a contemporary romance for me and I got kinda annoyed by the amount of comic fandom stuff in book 1, even as someone who enjoys the occasional comic. My fab books in that series were Always Practice Safe Hex and Resting Witch Face.

While not paranormal, bit SF, I also enjoyed the Ice Planet Barbarians series by Ruby Dixon.

Please don’t suggest anything like The Wolf King series by Lauren Palphrey. I absolutely HATE when we have one love interest in book 1 and then suddenly another love interest is introduced in book 2. This is why I dropped ACOTAR after book 1. I get invested into the main couple that’s introduced and I do NOT like them changing at all. Nothing like that please and no love triangles!

My absolute favorite trope is enemies to lovers, I dislike friends to lovers and find it boring.

So I’m mostly looking for book reccs that are like the first two authors I mentioned (Suzanne and Felicity).

I’m gonna list some authors I’m aware of, so you don’t need to recommend them:

JR Ward
Thea Harrison (loved her Elder Races series)
SJM (or anyone super booktok popular like Forth Wing, or Powerless or Cruel Prince you can assume I’ve heard of them)
Any Kuivalainen
LJ Andrews
Victoria Aveline (loved Choosing Theo)
K.F. Breene (loved her Demigods series)
C. L. Wilson
Caroline Peckham (I’m not interested in her ZA series)
Heather K. Carson
Cate C Wells
Cynthia Eden
Elayna R Gallea
Elizabeth Briggs
Erin Mainord
Christine Feehan
Lola Glass
Grace Draven
Sherilee Gray
Ali Hazelwood (only her paranormal books I don’t read contemp)
Amelia Hutchins
Larissa Ione
Elsa Jade
Genevieve Jack
Jennifer L Armentrout
Sheila Masterson (loooooved Poison Daughter so much)
Julie Trettel
Anna Lowe
I.T. Lucas
Shannon Mayer
Sylvia Mercedes
April L Moon
Kathryn Moon
Eliza Raine
Scarlett St. Clair
Leia Stone
Zoey Draven
S. Young

I went through ny Kindle list and I think that’s it!

So it you know of any authors, especially thise that write similarly (in terms od creativity, spice level and romance) of Suzanne Wright or Felicity Heaton, pleaseee I am begging you for reccs!

Also please don’t recommend your own book, mainly because I have an author friend and I know that if she read a list like this asking for YA books, she’d recommend hers just because it’s YA even if it doesn’t fit what people are looking for. So if you ARE gonna suggest your book, please make sure you are familiar with the books by the two authors I listed as my main interest and that your book truly does fit those books in terms of romance/spice level/storytelling.

THANK YOU SO MUCH in advance!

Edit: I just wanna, again, say a HUGE HUGE thank you! I genuinely didn’t expect so many amazing responses! I think you’ve given me enough books to last me a year when before I posted I was desperate to even find a handful. I’m so happy and grateful!

Recommendation request FMC with important skills

Hello! Requesting help to scratch an itch! Does anyone have a recommendation for a slow burn romance fantasy, preferably a trilogy or series where the FMC is a master at a skill or has a unique ability that is sought after by others. I want the character to be a master smith that is the only person that knows how to craft or make this specific material, a healer that is the only one that knows how to cure that specific disease, a pathfinder that is the best of the best. It doesn’t have to be where they are the only ones that know how to do that task but they have to be the best. Enough so that they are sought after by a group of people or a kingdom to aid them. I want the person to be reluctant to aid at first but then becomes heavily invested to the point of it being a cost to their wellbeing. It could also be someone who is the smoothest con artist ever!

A great example of what I’m looking for is a {touch of power by Maria V. Snyder}, {pathfinder’s way by T.A White}, {Bridge kingdom by Danielle L Jensen}, {the Mask of Mirrors by M.A Carrick}, {chosen by K.F. Breene}, {a tale of stars and shadow by Lisa Cassidy}, or {Star Steel by M.N. Jolley}.

Recommendation request Werewolves Romance Books with Jacob Black vibes.

I’m looking for a book with Jacob Black vibes, not so much Twilight.

I’m rewatching the movies and you know that scene in New Moon where Bella’s goes to see Jacob and he’s asleep and Sam and the guys get there and then the whole shifting mid air happens because Bella is running away.

So yeah Jacob Black vibes. Not a big love triangle person but I’ll take any suggestions, thank you💕

Recommendation request FM Werewolf Romance Fated Mates; after the first 50%, they've resolved most issues

Hi y'all. This is probably a little specific. Maybe not. I'm looking for FM werewolf romance, they're fated mates, and it can be enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, etc. as long as they are together and have worked out MOST of their issues by 50-60% so that they can work through external issues together for the rest of the book. I'd also love to see her be captured and him have to find her. They don't both have to be werewolves. I'd like to steer clear of anything too heavily Omegaverse. I'd love for it to be super romantic and VERY spicy would be preferable. (I'm a horny gal; what can I say?) I'm fine with dark, suspense, and thriller. I just finished {A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole} and liked it fine but felt like there was too much turmoil between them the whole time. I'm still trying to figure out how they all of a sudden loved each other. Turmoil is fine, but I want them to work through things together. Anyway, thanks in advance. Happy reading. <3
