Can I submit an ACT score after my college application?

I know the application opens August 1st and student housing opens Oct 1st. But I’m taking the ACT on Sept 19th. Do I wait to apply? I’m trying to get the most money for merit scholarships.

Hey Yall I'm a full time (not famous) comedian coming to Oxford 7/28 for a show. Wondering if anyone had any tips/connections to get the word out? I'm fully DIY by choice and have spent the last 13 years zig zagging the country headlining shows in 37 states (and Canada!). Lemme know whats up. AMA.

Any cool local blogs or instagram pages that share events or anything? Any local news conections? anything is appreciated, much love

Here's my bio, sorry it's in the third person: Dan Alten is a charming goofball from Kentucky who has been traveling the country for the past decade doing about 200 shows a year bringing his intelligently surreal bebop nonsense everywhere from theaters to punk basements to art galleries to beloved comedy clubs with a knack for making audiences feel like they're on a good psychedelic trip without the drugs. Like if the Ramones were one guy with a mustache and good jokes. Iggy Pop with puns. Clever chaos. Like Jimi Hendrix lighting fire to a Tik Tok reel live on stage. He has opened for Kyle Kinane, Bobcat, Sam Tallent, Rory Scovel, Sarah Sherman from SNL, Johnny Pemberton, Hari Kondabolu, rapper Open Mike Eagle, DJ Doug Pound & David Leibe Hart from Tim & Eric, various punk bands with silly names, and a guy at an open mic who tried to throw his father’s ashes into the crowd. He has recorded 2 albums, written a zine, and filmed a pilot for an Amazon Prime stand up show that was lost to history. But most importantly he’s very funny and unique. You will enjoy him. And if not you can mud wrestle him after the show.

I just turned 21 and I’m looking for what liquor stores in Oxford are the best. I’m talking a mix of fair prices and a good selection. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Visiting the week of a weak opponent?

How is the football game day experience when facing a losing school?

Looking to visit for a game soon and November 21 against Wofford works well schedule-wise. Since it's right before Thanksgiving break and against a lame football team, will this be low turnout pregame and in-game? Would like to see our first game, but didn't want a lessened experience. Thanks!

Good mechanic? Midas?

Kenny Warren and Deals were recommended, both pretty much hang up the phone as soon as they heard it was an import lol....

Was told to avoid Oxford Auto Care... apparently they won't just fix the issue and want to fix anything connected to the issue.

Have a brake issue, might be a stuck pin, might just be rotors are too old and need replacing

Midas said they will, lots of reviews but most look fake/bots

Criminal Justice or Global Security?

I will be graduating in May 2027. My degree-related courses are already locked in, but I need one elective course (3 credits) that is easy to take online and I can use to bump up my GPA. I have interest in criminal justice and all things spy/espionage, so I am considering:

Intro. to Criminal Justice (CRJU 1000) with Zerba or

Intro. to Global and Ntl. Security (INSS 1350)…Frakes, Doty, Ackerman and Shipp all have open spots.

Any input on either?

Experience with OUT bus

I'm an incoming grad student and I'm hoping it's possible to forgo getting a parking pass since my apartment will be on a OUT route and the stops are closer to my department buildings than either the commuter red or blue parking zones.

I know the commuter passes sell out fast though so I want to be sure taking the bus is doable. Are the buses generally reliable, and do they get super full during the week? Any negative experiences?

Edit: thanks for all the info! I'm feeling much better about taking the bus. Glad to hear so many people have had good experiences.

Admissions Question Ole Miss or Alabama?

I’m transferring into one of these schools for one year + another year for a masters in finance. Which one should I choose, not considering financial reasons?

Planning to major in Finance if that wasn’t obvious.

Picking a major

How did you decide what degree to pursue? Was it a process of deep research, gut feeling, maybe influenced by someone in your family in the field, etc, etc.? Was return on investment-cost compared to potential future salary-a factor in your decision?

Paying for parking permit?

With parking permit applications for incom freshmen opening soon, I’ve been trying to get as prepared as possible for the process. However, I don’t understand the payment part.

I see that it says students have to charge the permit to their bursar account but what does that mean? Do I need to add money to the account right now or is this charge just going to be included in my bill for the semester/year when school starts? I thought parking would be an upfront charge like housing application and orientation fees were so I’m double checking.

Incoming First Year

Hi everyone this is my first post on this subreddit since I got admitted at UMD! I’m so excited for my new journey and I’m excited to meet folks. I’m a geology major and I was posting to see if anyone else is a geology, earth science or geochemistry major. I was planning on joining the geology club for more communications and changes to meet new people with similar interests. I wasn’t wondering are there any geoscience or earth science nerds out there who would like to connect? I’ve got a pretty cool rock a social collection I got from my extra credit filed trip for my historical geology class I took at Montgomery Community College I would love to share with others!!

Daughter fell in love with Ole Miss

She's a rising senior and after a tour is in LOVE with Ole Miss. Previously it was Bama (her brother goes there). I know nothing about Ole Miss since we're a Big 10 family and just dipped our toe into SEC when my son started at Bama last fall.

She wants to do sports management, is in Color/Winter Guard and would like to continue in college. I think she's intimidated by rushing, even though I'm sure there'd be a house she could be comfortable in if she went through the process.

Tell me all the things she needs to apply for 32 ACT/3.7 GPA/Eagle Scout Are there special groups like Honors College, fellowships or living environments she should examine? She did the tour with my parents so I'm a little blind on this one.

She's from Illinois, and I don't think she has any friends going down there.

Is Ole Miss Safe

My son wants to go to Ole Miss, I know nothing about it. what is the culture like? is it real Trumpy? Are there a lot of racist people? I know these questions are going to annoy people but there has been a lot of racism in that part of the country and oppression of minority groups.

Greek Life Rushing and my Instagram account

Hi everyone! I’m an incoming freshman and I really want to rush. From what I’ve heard they heavily watch your social media and it’s a big deciding factor in if a house drops you or not. Im worried because I create sports content (I’m not a huge creator). Nothing I say is inappropriate or mean in the slightest, but I’m worried they won’t like my page because it’s not super aesthetic. My tour guide when I toured campus was the president of one of the sororities and I asked her a bunch about rush but I completely forgot to ask about the social media part of it. She was by far the nicest tour guide I’ve had on a college tour and she made rush sound like it’s the funnest thing ever (and I’m sure I’ll have fun and love it) again I’m just really worried about my Instagram. Thank you and hotty toddy!

Bulldog with a question

Hi guys, MS State student here. I'm a senior accounting student and I have a quick question for the other accounting students. Does anyone know Matt Oakes? He's a recent grad and our new Intermediate II professor. He's got a RateMyProfessor but it isn't much. My friends and I are wondering about his teaching style and what we should expect. Thank ya'll!
