Odyssey Question

Post image

Just saw the movie last night and there were two clear standout moments of the movie that got a raucous of applause from the audience. Early on in the voyage when Odysseus proudly proclaims “This is about to be an odyssey!” And later on in the exhilarating final fight scene when Odysseus bellows “It’s Odysseus time!” as he singlehandedly takes on the suitors. Which scene did you prefer??

I prefer the final line of the movie.

"Phew. THAT was an odyssey."

The Odyssey was filmed before a live studio audience

The real Odyssey was the friends we made along the way

“You ever noticed how a guy named Odysseus is the same guy who went on the Odyssey? Now there’s a coincidence.”

And Helen of Troy? More like Helen of Detroit!

Really poignant when he says, "I'm getting too old for this odyssey shit."

Followed by Tom Holland's character looking into the camera at the audience and saying "Well that just happened".

Okay with how quick the end went by, I mean shortly after Odysseus went unconscious from the arrow. Like cmon, fake out death, followed by my son is king, to lets go on exile? Shit was rapid, genuinely I think that line could've worked. Like as a meta joke.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I think it wouldve landed. Everyone would be so emotionally devastated, ending with this triumphant battle, thats like all the crowd work done. A stand up comedian would dream of an audience that prepped for a joke.

My uncle could step up on stage and shit himself and the audience would laugh after the 3 hour epic they just went through.

Right before he looks directly into the camera and winks. Absolute cinema.

I enjoyed the mid-credits scene where he turns to the camera, winks, and says “I’ll odyssey you later”

Peak cinema.

I personally was disappointed the film had barely anything to do with Honda’s award winning reliable family van

The transmissions aren’t that great in those. Once they break it can become a real odyssey

Sees a giant whirlpool: “Something’s ODD, DA SEA.”

I loved the scene where Odysseus started singing dame tu cosita in a ship and it turned into a whole ass montage. Truly an iconic moment

My favorite part was when Travis Scott did the rap at the end where he’s all “Big Odyssey Style, uhh (da na na na na na-na, da na na na na na-na), chillin with Polyphemus, I said this is so ridiculous, gotta see Telemachus, but I’m addicted to lotuses, uhh”

I loved the PTA like needle drop of John Denver - Calypso when they cut to Odysseus on the island.

1

u/SaeedDitman 3h ago

Why do we go to Troy? So we can take decades to get back. Odyssey begin

Let’s Odyssey!

I preferred his dialogue in Good Will Hunting 2

1

u/AdWestern1561 3h ago

I prefer the scene where Homer gets drunk, chokes the boy and falls asleep saying "mmm donuts". For those unaware, it's a cameo from the original author of the story himself.

1

u/Majkl_94 2h ago

1

u/Distinct_Roll5659 2h ago

I like when the cyclops got blinded and he said “that’s odd I can’t see”.

1

u/Simpicity 2h ago

My favorite part was:

"That’s why every war has a third act, the hardest part, the part we call The Oddysey."

1

u/Nose_to_the_Wind 2h ago

Or when Orlando Jones character says “You think that was an Odyssey, dog? THIS is an Odyssey!” and pulls out a blunt.

1

u/TylenolMaster_66 2h ago

And then he oddyssey’d all over the place

1

u/BenUFOs_Mum 1h ago

That truly was an odd time at sea.

This was definitely my favorite bit. It just comes out of nowhere, no explanation at all.

I liked the scene when the old man threw back his hood and Antonius was like, "Jesus Christ, it's Odysseus Borne".
