Ehhhh accurate not really, Apocalypto basically conflates way too many elements to be historically accurate, it gets the vibe but is no different from any other hollywood movie about the ancient past, the Mayans were not the top guys when Spain came and the movies does a lot of oversimplification about the societies at the time, and basically mix up Mayan, Inca and Aztec culture. Apocalypto is a good movie tho i'm not saying otherwise
It's basically if we made a movie about Greek people sailing on Viking Drakkars
At least it used indigenous actors and introduced some different ancient culture into Hollywood. As a Native I will always love the film for that. And The Odyssey would be a lot cooler with Mediterranean people.

Well I hate to break it to you but a right wing dream version of the odyssey is most likely to feature a lot of white people. The right wing backlash here in America has had nothing to do with the white people in the movie.
It doesn’t matter to me what dumb Americans think about the movie. The majority of Americans have never heard of the Odyssey, but you expect me to be happy about them thinking Greeks look and sound like Anglosaxon protestants.
I want Greek/Mediterannean actors to play the characters.
For one every American reads the odyssey. It’s been part of the American grade school curriculum for over a century.

My comment is specifically about what a Mel Gibson and Elon musk version of the odyssey would be and why they specifically are complaining about Nolan’s version. Not what I want. If there was going to be a lore accurate version of the odyssey I agree, it should be done with Mediterranean actors. And the fact that these people complaining about a black person don’t say a word about all the white people just further demonstrates how ridiculous their point is. And I’m just telling you Elon musk is not complaining that the movie has white actors and don’t expect them to deliver you an odyssey movie without white people in it. Nah the movie would probably be decent. I don't like Mel Gibson as a person but he is a competent and talented film director. While I highly doubt his version of the Odyssey would be historically accurate. Gibson would definitely do a good enough job aestheticly to satisfy chuds. Like with his movie about ancient Mayan society a Apocalypto.
The only reason I think it could flop is because audience already watched Nolan version and don't want a rehash of the same thing.
And funny when there’s gay shit, drag shit, and literal shit everywhere since all of those things were really fucking common and socially accepted back then by the Greeks.
