It's so dumb because Kang is the most recastable character. They had Loki as a woman and a crocodile, they could've recast Kang

If it's true that Majors had it in his contract that no one else could play him...insane from MCU to do that, but surely they had leverage to rework/cancel that contract (maybe pay him off) once he got into legal trouble

The Council of Kang post credit scene, with the silly costumes and silly accents, it was unbelievably cringe and childish.

Even in the comics, he's always been a C-list villain with no meaningful events around him. He's always a side-character in the big events like Secret Wars.

And before you say "What about the Kang Dynasty comic?", it sucked. The comic really really sucked, and barely anyone's actually read it. There's just people larping on the MCU sub acting like they've read it when they haven't.

Marvel and Star Wars have a lot of cooks in the kitchen and their interest is making money vs making cinema, so there's a lot more push and pull about what will make money, what will sell toys, what will be memorable.

Vs Nolan who -- for any shortcomings the man may have-- is a director who knows what he wants, and spends a very long time pre-planning, and by golly Nolan is gonna get what he wants because that's the vision.

Its basically the difference between Lord of the Rings (PJ has a lot more control, there's years of pre-production before filming starts, everyone is on board with the vision) and the Hobbit movies (pre-production is disjointed, lots of studio interference, lots of studio reshoots/rewrites, plots added last minute, etc etc).

Step 1: Throw everything imaginable into the kitchen sink and throw it at this movie.

Step 2: film a bunch of random shit with all of these elements that sounds cool

Step 3: Try to figure out how all of those things can be cohesively put together into a single movie during post editing.

Step 4: Profit. No seriously guys. This strategy will ultimately work and they’ll make $2 billion. The only lesson that will be learned is that they can in fact keep getting away with this. It was pretty obvious from the start that their focus was on throwing in anything that could generate hype into the movie and not making a good story. And I guarantee it works.

Movies are made in the editing bay. Productions normally shoot a lot more footage than what will actually be used. Alternate lines, alternate takes, alternate angles, etc. Still have almost 5 months to figure it out.

Alternative takes, sure, but many films are not filming tons of extra scenes or lines. I am willing to bet that Nolan largely films one set of lines and doesn't have many extra scenes.

It sounds like with Marvel movies they aren't nearly as clear as to what the final film will be like. This includes shots entirely in front of green screen where they are trying out different backgrounds. Marvel films also do a ton of reshoots that change the movie and then they are trying to edit together stuff from multiple shoots. Nolan almost never does reshoots.

Pre-production and planning is what makes great movies. You can occasionally loosely build an Iron Man, but you aren't going to do that with film after film. In addition, the first Iron Man was a much smaller movie with smaller scope. An Avengers film is supposed to bring together tons of movies and plots. It should be meticulously planned out.

Nothing led to Doomsday. The fact they keep hinting that this is a sequel to endgame kinda tells you it’s gonna be a mish mash of scenes with the characters from later phases.

The buildup to Thanos was a once in a lifetime experience. It cannot be replicated from what was served post endgame.

I hope im wrong and they figure out how to introduce Doom and build a coherent story but keeping my expectations low.

Reading the MCU book it’s pretty clear were lucky to ever get to endgame the way we did. Most movies were improvised and stiched in edit. I fear doomsday will suffer lime the later phases.
