I need money

My job isn’t cutting it but I feel like it’s hard to find a decent paying job out here that is offering full time hours and adequate pay to keep the bills paid. Either that or I can’t get a set schedule which makes getting a second job impossible. That being the issue with my current job is they won’t give me a set schedule and 16.50 an hour 40 hours a week does not pay the bills even out here in Ocala. Does anyone have any suggestions for work in the area, I can commute reliably up to an hour and a half at the very absolute most I’d say but preferably within 30 minutes. I live alone for reference

Edit: I also do ride share services like spark and DD on the side but the market here for it is kinda shit compared to where I’ve worked before like Orlando and I can’t get the good peak hours with my work schedule so it’s not really a viable source of income

Does anyone want to start a in person gaming group? (DnD,board games, etc.)

(23m). I work in Ocala and would be interested in doing an in person gaming group with people after work maybe once a week or so. I can’t necessarily host as I live in Oxford but I’d be willing to help organize or plan things and there are plenty of public spaces in Ocala to meet. I don’t have a group so dm if you’re interested.

Club/Lounges

Is it just me or does Ocala need better DJs? I stopped going out in Ocala because the DJs are not in tuned, I feel like there’s a lot of music that come out and they put it months later when the songs are already old 🤷🏻‍♂️ another thing is I haven’t seen any promoters. Maybe because I’m from NY and it’s more advanced over there, but I’m willing to help turn shit up out here lmao.

wanting to socialize

hello,

i am currently going through a very nasty breakup and have been very isolated. i want to reach out and meet new people in the area. im 21f. im low on money so i cant really do activities that cost much (if anything). some activities i like are hiking, biking, sitting and talking, gaming, drawing, going to the gym, being with animals, cooking/baking. some subjects im interested in are psychology and criminology. i would especially enjoy biking with others at santos or going hiking or even just walking and talking at a park. i also want to learn how to fight because of a situation im dealing with so something martial arts related might be good too.

anyone who is interested or has some recommendations of groups that meet in the area it would be nice to comment or dm.

Final reminder: Planning to vote in the August 18 primary election? You have until Monday, July 20 to register if you are not already!

If you are new to Marion County (or just new to voting here) and not yet registered to vote, you have until this coming Monday, July 20, 2026, to register in time to vote in the August 18, 2026 primary election. Florida law requires a voter to be registered no less than 29 days before an upcoming election. If you miss this deadline, your next possible opportunity to vote will be the November 3, 2026 general election.

There are several ways to register and several ways and times to vote, so no one should have a reason to be left out. There are people hoping you won't vote. Don't let their wishes come true!

Anybody hiring?

Hey y’all! Coming back home for a couple months before grad school, and was wondering if anyone knew of any places hiring full time or part time workers?

I have experience in food service, office administration, leasing, child care, and mental health services. Worked the past 4 years with youth and families.

Because I won’t be here too long I am leaning more towards service industry jobs, but I will take anything with decent pay and working conditions. I’d appreciate if anyone could point me in a good direction!

Roger’s BBQ

When I was a kid in the 90s, we would go to a restaurant called Roger’s BBQ. It was on SR 40 near the intersection with Hwy 314. I loved it there. I haven’t been to Ocala in about 10 years but I’m pretty sure it’s long gone at this point.

Anyone remember that place or know what happened to it?

Anybody need a place for a few days? I'm broke till wed night and my powers out.

Hey so, im going through a thing with my wife rn and her and my kids are staying in another city for a while and I've kindve hit a rough patch at work. I don't get paid till Wednesday evening and my powers off. I was gonna say like, maybe someone on here just needs a place to stay for a couple days? Or like a week or wtvr really.. idrc,

I owe a hundred for the electric and it costs like $9 - $13 per day for electric. It's a really nice place in a nice area near Publix on East 40. Message me. I'm not really looking for a long term roommate- or maybe I am idk, it's a big place and my kids are gone so why waste it.. lmk. I could even reimburse for the power if youre just looking for a place for a couple days. You'll have your own bedroom and there's a bed and a TV in there too and what's mine is you're use wtvr. Idk dm me i guess.

*Oh I have a car too, so like I could come get u and drive u places as long as I'm not working. I just need help with my power bill till Wednesday and maybe a roommate would be good, idk hmu*

Any place to buy trees?

Noticed my neighbors have tall shade trees in their yard but they’re never home so I can’t ever ask them where they get them. I do see trees being sold in fb marketplace but I was wondering if anyone here knows of a reliable place to buy them.

Local student looking to help small businesses with social media!

Hi everyone! I’m currently an online student at Liberty University working on my degree in Strategic Communications with a minor in social media management. I’m taking a little time off this semester, and I’m looking to use that time to get some hands-on experience by helping out a few local businesses in my area. (Marion County)
I’m looking to take on an unpaid internship for the next six months to build my portfolio. I know a lot of local business owners are swamped and barely have time to keep up with their social media and that’s where I’d love to help. I can take care of the day-to-day posting, help with content, and keep things consistent so you can focus on running your business.
I’m a quick learner and very motivated to help our local shops grow. I have room to help 2–3 businesses right now, so if you or someone you know could use some extra help, shoot me a message! I’d love to chat.

Best nails place?

I don't mind a bit of a drive! Will be in NE Ocala, also near Top of the World and the Villages. Wherever is fine, just want a place where they do a good job. Pretty basic, just looking for pedicure and shellac mani.

Bonus points if you also know of a good spa or massage place. Doesn't have to be the same as the nail place. I somehow find getting my nails done at a spa is never quite as good as going to the good ol' local strip mall places 😆

Reasonable and reliable carpet install?

Title basically says it all. Looking to replace carpet and three bedrooms. I prefer an established business or a chain, but above all, just want a reasonably-priced and reliable business to do the job. I know, carpet is not cheap, but I really just don't wanna pay $8 million for something that doesn't generally cost $8 million lol

School Choice

I hate MCPS and their zoning restrictions. The school my child is zoned for is a C rating school and if I want to get her in a better learning environment then no transportation options are available. My kid was placed in Dr. N.H Jones after being on the controlled enrollment waiting list for months. I called transportation and the magnet school coordinator today and the options given to me were “decline your offer and try to get on the waitlist for a closer school” or “find a stranger at orientation that will carpool.” This absolutely sucks. I don’t know how I’m going to get my child to school and make it to work on time.

It would be one thing if they can guarantee all schools have the same rating and will get the same level of education. But since I have to seek it elsewhere, it would be nice to at least have transportation options other than “figure it out” and “not our problem.”

Anyone willing to change an outdoor AC capacitor?

I am trying to change my AC capacitor that I ordered. The tech I had was ok with me getting his number to replace it for me on the side outside of company time but I forgot to get his number. I have the capacitors for my unit that are correct. I just need someone to install it for me and I’m looking for someone who can do it cheap not like these AC companies that charge hundreds.

Thank you!
