Has anyone seen this billboard departing Indiana? I just Googled this guy and boy, is he a character. Real divorced dad energy. Is he a local staple, or the town kook? Any Fedele tea?

Who’s got the best biscuits & gravy? I’m looking for a chunky and rich sausage gravy with fluffy yet supple biscuits. Everywhere I go either one of the two is lacking.

Question Pierogi fest

I was planning on going to pierogi fest this weekend, was actually looking forward to some good pierogi but now I’ve heard not great things. I’ve heard from it being too crowded with too small of space utilized, pierogi not that good for being the highlight, lines too long. What are your thoughts? Supposed to be hot so if it’s a miserable time, I’d rather just go to a restaurant for some good pierogi and hit Lake Michigan.

Edit: we were planning on going early Sunday, if that matters. 😬

Pro wrestling independent shows in the area?

Wondering if there are any independent wrestling shows in the area. Caught an indie show during Wrestlemania in Vegas and its a whole different experience.

I know Crown Point is having a wrestling thing on July 25th

Are there any regularly occurring shows around? I was searching google and found there was a school or something that did regular shows, but that is now closed.

East Chicago stands with USW 7-1

Statement from Mayor Anthony Copeland

The City of East Chicago has started the process of returning sponsorship funds provided by British Petroleum (BP) while the lockout involving United Steelworkers Local 7-1 continues and many hardworking employees remain out of work. The City of East Chicago has a legacy of supporting those members of organized labor who seek fair treatment on the job.

From the beginning, I have stood with the workers and families affected by this lockout. My administration has focused on actions that could help bring both sides back to the bargaining table and move this dispute toward a fair resolution.

That is why I sought meetings with BP decision-makers to advocate directly for our residents and workers. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, those conversations did not take place. We also reminded BP that East Chicago provided the maximum allowable property tax abatement relief as the incentive for its $5 billion plant expansion and improvement, and that partnership should include a strong commitment to the people who make the refinery successful.

I also sponsored a resolution with members of the Common Council urging BP to end the lockout and return to good-faith collective bargaining. In addition, I submitted a letter expressing the City's support for United Steelworkers Local 7-1. These actions reflect my continued support for the refinery workers, their families, the economic stability of our community and the environmental protections needed here in Northwest Indiana. (RESOLUTION ATTACHED IN THE COMMENTS)

Returning these funds is another step that reflects East Chicago's values and our support for the workers who continue to be affected by this dispute.

My administration will continue standing with the hardworking families of East Chicago. We encourage BP and United Steelworkers Local 7-1 to return to the bargaining table and reach a fair agreement as quickly as possible so workers can get back to providing for their families and strengthening our community.

Question How to get rid of white landscape rock?

Long story short- I’ve got a couple piles of white landscape rock I am looking to get rid of. I’ve posted it a couple places on fb advertising it as free and have had minimal luck (a couple people took a couple buckets full, but that’s it). Any suggestions of where to post? I have maybe 40 cubic feet or so. (Anyone interested? Can send link for fb marketplace post) Located in Merrillville if that makes a difference.

Looking for some cooler repair

I would love some insight into someone that might work on small commercial refrigeration. I have a few prep coolers and under counter coolers that could use some TLC. I'd love to get them fixed, but if someone can just confirm that they need scrapped, that'd be helpful too.

Thanks in advance

Deep River Grinders

I finally made it out to see the Deep River Grinders this weekend after hearing people talk about them for years, and I can’t believe I waited this long.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it ended up being one of the most entertaining afternoons I’ve had in a while. The games are played using the original 1858 rules, which is a lot more fun than I expected. The players stay in character, everyone seems genuinely excited to be there, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. It feels less like watching a sporting event and more like stepping back in time.

There were families, kids running around, people asking questions about the old rules, and the players were happy to explain everything. It was surprisingly interactive and made the whole experience even better.

If you’re anywhere near Northwest Indiana, I’d definitely recommend checking it out at least once.

Has anyone else been to a Deep River Grinders game? Or are there any other vintage base ball clubs around the Midwest that are worth seeing?

Hunting & Taxidermy Beginner

Hello! I'm a 29 YO female, and I love the outdoors. I've been interested in getting into hunting and learning more about taxidermy. I'm looking to connect with local people who wouldn't mind sharing their knowledge or pointing me in the right direction. If you know of any local mentors, groups, or classes, I'd love to hear about them! (I've already done hunters ed)

Question Restaurant and Candy Story Name Help

In the 1990s-2000s, there was a bagel restaurant on 45th in Munster. It was in the same mall as UPS or just a little further down. I thought it was the Great American Bagel or Bagel Market, but I can't recall the exact name. Does anyone else remember it?

Also, near Munster's Montgomery Wards across from McCrorey's, there was a candy store. Does anyone remember the name of it?

Munster 5-10 years from now?

As the question states, how do you all see Munster 5-10 years from now? I notice a decent amount of neighbors putting their homes up for sale. Is this a bad sign ? I'm hearing that some of them were moving south to St. John, or CP. I realize this may be a weird question but I'm genuinely curious if others notice this or not. Just wanna hear your thoughts, thanks.
