I’m not an Indian student, I’m an Irish postgrad student. I was wondering if any Indian students can attest to this? Or other international students? I’ve had a suspicion for a while that the university is taking advantage of international students, especially Indian and Chinese students.

I applied at University of Galway for MA literature and Publishing and have been on a waitlist since. I haven't heard back from the university. I am an Indian student aiming to get into the September intake.

By what time can I expect a definite answer from the university?

We're a group of students who just completed our final exams in the University of Galway. During our final year, we worked on a project inspired by the challenges we faced trying to find accommodation while studying in Galway.

The project explores an alternative approach to student housing, and after receiving really positive feedback, we'd love to find out what current students think. Before taking the idea any further, we want to make sure it's something people would actually find useful.

hi there, I know it's am late to be looking for accommodation but I moved Galway up to second on my cao at the last minute and hence in feb I had no idea I would even want to find accom I know I've missed the on campus deadline but I'm wondering two things 1)does that open back up in august when offers come out and 2) is there like some sort of website or data base dedicated to trustworthy private accommodation.

I have just received my acceptance into the program Msc Information systems management for the upcoming sept 2026 intake. I am a computer science graduate (batch of 2026), currently an AI engineer intern at a startup (no work experience before this). I wanted to move into roles at the intersection of tech and non tech and this program with its modules seems perfect.
however, for an international student with no work experience (except 2 internships during my degree and 1 after i graduated) is it worth it to go forward with this application (only 1 month and 20 days left till semester starts).

Hi everyone,I am from Ukraine under Temporary Protection living in Galway (sorry if you are tired of us by now, I am just in a very stressful situation and desperate for guidance).

I am currently finishing Year 2 of my LLB at TUS in Limerick, but I want to transfer into Year 2 of the Law (BCL) programme at the University of Galway.Commuting to Limerick daily on trains/buses is physically and financially unsustainable. I cannot afford Limerick rent, and I work a job in Galway to pay rent for the house I share with my family.Academically, I have a QQI Level 5 from GTI and completed Year 1 at TUS with a 54.58% average (60 ECTS cleared, but via autumn repeats). My grades aren't perfect because I had to study complex law in a foreign language, while managing the brutal commute.The School of Law guidelines strictly require CAO points equivalent and state that autumn repeats are not normally considered. But what about previous year? I also have my Ukrainian school leaving certificate; if I’ve calculated it correctly, my mark should convert to around 450 CAO points.…

Does the Personal Statement play a big role in outweighing average grades? Do they ever make exceptions for severe financial/commuting hardships ? Also, is it a good idea to visit the School of Law office on campus in person to explain my situation?

Hey everyone, I’m currently a 17 y.o living in Italy, and I’ve set my heart on starting a Biotechnology degree at the University of Galway in September 2028 To give you some context on where I’m at: I’m just about to start my fourth year at an agricultural technical institute (Istituto Agrario). For those unfamiliar with the Italian system, this is roughly equivalent to starting Transition Year/Fifth Year (high schools last 5 years in Italy). I finished this past year with an 8/10 average and an 10/10 in English, and I’m working hard to keep those grades high. My parents are understandably worried. They’ve been pushing me to consider universities in Rome or in other cities in Italy, thinking it would be safer or more practical. Every time they suggested a backup plan, I stood my ground and said Ireland is the only place I want to be. They’ve finally realized that I’m 100% committed to this. They’ve also been blunt with me, telling me I need to "toughen up" and become more responsible, especially because the cost of living and rent in Ireland is no joke.

Coming from a loweincome background, the financial pressure is no joke. It’s scary to think about the logistics, and honestly, the thought of not getting accepted is terrifying. I’ve put so much of myself into this dream that I’m not sure how I’d handle a rejection.

I'm an international student joining galway uni this september and im kinda scared as I've never lived alone. I'd love to make friends before I arrive so I can have some sort of comfort in knowing someone there before stepping into a new country. Would anyone be interested in helping me out?
