Heading up to Ipswich to stay for a couple of nights next week and hoping this wonderful mess of an antique store is still open. I don't have high hopes. Would love your suggestions for similar places if you have any!

Beverly to Ptown during the week

My partner & I have been invited to a friends vacation rental in Provincetown for a couple days. We’ll go up on a Wednesday in August and come back on a Friday. Should we:

  1. Take the ferry from Salem into Boston, then catch the Ptown Ferry from there (this involves about 90 minutes of extra time at Long Wharf in Boston)

  2. Uber to Long Wharf to catch the Ptown Ferry

  3. Just drive because traffic won’t be that bad on a weekday

Obviously catching the ferries is more fun, but it’s not cheap. And I have chronic fatigue so while traffic can be draining (I won’t be driving), perhaps taking two boats is even more so.

Would appreciate any advice!

Looking for a local Honda repair shop…

Prefer a local MA shop rather than a dealer but may need one capable of programming replaced electrical components to be specific to the individual vehicle.

My HRV is 2018 w/ ~185k miles. Wary of putting too much money into it but have an odd electrical problem which I’ve put a lot of time into investigating.

Thanks

House Cleaning

I'm currently on leave from work for burnout/stress and a result of that I haven't been keeping my house as clean as I like/normally would. Can anyone recommend a house cleaner who won't judge me and could do a deep clean? 2BR, 1 bath, kitchen, and living room, ~1000sq ft. Potential for regular ongoing service after.

Located in Ipswich.

Wooden Playgrounds

Who here remembers the wooden playgrounds from the 80s and 90s? Are any of these still left standing in our area? Maybe it's nostalgia, or maybe it's the number of times I hit my head on the wood tunnels of these things, but I'd love to take my kids to one, if they still exist.

Best buyer's agents for first-time home buyers?

Hi! My partner and I want to buy our first home soon. We’re targeting north shore ~ Beverly, Danvers, Melrose, Wakefield, Reading, etc. Budget ~$900K. Looking for a 2000 sqft+ single family home in a walkable, family-friendly neighborhood.

We’re searching for a buyer’s agent to work with that is:

  • Very knowledgeable about the local market and the ins and outs of these towns
  • Years of experience facilitating transactions on the buy side
  • Data-driven approach to pricing and offers
  • Known for crafting creative, competitive offers that win in competitive markets
  • Honest enough to tell us when a house isn’t worth it

*Note: Looking only for recommendations from people who've personally bought a home with this realtor and would recommend them to a friend. Thanks!

Which Danvers, Beverly and Peabody neighborhoods have the best trick-or-treating?

My husband and I are looking to move to Danvers, Beverly or Peabody in the next few years and Halloween is a big deal for us. We do a large yard display every year and love a neighborhood with tons of trick-or-treaters and neighbors who decorate. Where we currently live (out of state), we get 100+ trick-or-treaters each year.

Which residential areas get the most Halloween traffic? Any streets known for going all out? Trying to factor this into our future house hunt (only half joking).

Thanks!

Great Car Detailing?

Seems like there are dozens of car detailing businesses around. Can anyone who was a customer (not a business owner) recommend a detailed who is honest, fair and extremely good at what they do? I’m looking for minor paint correction and ceramic coating.

Question for Biker Riders

Thumbnail
gallery
15 Upvotes

Independence Greenway is highlighted in bright green on the map, which I believe shows where bikes are allowed. I’d love to ride the entire trail, but I’m genuinely confused about how you’re supposed to get across Route 1 and the 95. Am I missing a tunnel, bridge, or designated crossing somewhere? Any guidance from someone who’s ridden the full route would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Sorry for the title, I obviously meant ā€œBike Ridersā€.

I started a comedy show in Downtown Lynn 3 years ago. It’s quietly become one of the best rooms in New England.

You know LynnArts on Exchange Street. Three years ago the Lynn Music Foundation offered me the black box theater in there and asked if I wanted to try running a comedy night. I said yes.

I’m from here. I’d watched people drive into Boston for a night out and pay $45 plus parking for it. Lynn didn’t have a comedy room and as we know doesn’t have much to do at night.

We bring the best regional comics and national headliners to Lynn on the fourth Thursday of every month, $20. 3 opening comics, a local musical guest and a headliner. Myself and Jamie Aird (Boston comic/talent consultant who helped us get started and still with us) do the booking. I do the video, the graphics, the ads, branding , all tryna get butts in seats. Lynn Music Foundation hosts and facilitates the venue.

150+ comics have come through since. Some of the best comics currently have used our room to quietly work out new material. A Google review called it one of the best comedy rooms in New England and I think they’re right.

I record every show myself and edit the clips, and those clips have done tens of millions of views. For a room that fits 120 people in Lynn, Massachusetts.

A couple months back at our May show our headliner was doing crowd work and a couple in the front row mentioned they’d gotten a babysitter to be there. I’m a parent. I know exactly what that costs. Nobody does that for something that isn’t worth it, and they’d already been before.

That’s the part that means the most to me. Not the comics or the views. That people here decided this was worth the trouble.

Next one’s July 23rd. Janelle Draper headlines, Boston comic who’s opened for Nikki Glaser and Jay Leno.

Looking for a classic breakfast sandwich

As a NJ transplant, one of the many things we had were breakfast sandwiches where the eggs were made on a flat top with the meats so every sandwich was unique. Crispy fried eggs and packed into a bulkie or Kaiser roll.
I haven’t had that experience in MA and I could be looking in the wrong places. Every sandwich I’ve found has been very cookie cutter, a perfectly round egg that was warmed in the oven with the meat. Basically what you’d find at Dunks but every shop I’ve been to has been the same. Where can I find the breakfast sandwich experience I’ve been missing?

Saddest beef question ever?

I’m from central MA and have only gotten northshore beefs with college buddies years ago. Is there a specific way to order one? Is it like ordering a Philly cheesesteak? Idk why this is making me second guess myself

I’ll be up this weekend and really want one. Gracias
