News πŸ“° A Myanmar political activist from NY called Moe Chan says he couldn’t erase the Burmese curse words at the subway station (he took pic as proof). But he and community leaders got the help of MTA and finally erased it. So now, everyone can commute peacefully, without seeing those Burmese curse words.

Discussion πŸ’¬ The Philosopher that inspired the Dobama Ideology

This is relatively obscure but Nietzsche was one the philosophers that inspired the Dobama Asionyone movements in the 1930s.

The video I've linked is a short dialogue between Plato and Nietzsche, and should serve as a short intro to both philosophies.

Discussion πŸ’¬ Can anybody tell me about WA State?

β€’ Upvotes

Hey! I've been doing a lot of research into Mynamar and the spring revolution and it's extremely interesting and complex, but one of the things i don't find much information about is WA State. I know it's an autonomous region within Mynamar that's neutral, but also funds militias, and they also have ties with china and serves as a mediator. It's the strongest ethnic army in Mynamar and they are Han Chinese. But besides that I can't find much. I've heard allegations of them being narco states and facilitating chinese crime, and other stuff and im not sure if its true or not. I'm just genuinely curious about the region and wondering if anybody knows anything else that I don't, and if your living in WA state, how is it like? Where can I find more information about it?

Ever wonder why ASEAN seems so toothless when it comes to Myanmar?

The whole consensus decision-making thing and the non-interference policy are pretty major flaws. But the biggest issue is that individual member states keep dealing with the Myanmar generals, whether it's on the down-low or out in the open.

Just look at Thailand. It really tries hard to have the generals' backs because it gains a lot from Myanmar, which makes sense.

These backdoor channels mean the junta doesn’t have to talk to ASEAN as a whole. Instead, they can work with each country one-on-one, customizing the deals to meet specific local interests while ignoring what ASEAN wants across the board.

Unless ASEAN can somehow get everyone on the same page and commit all 10 member states to the same terms (which seems pretty unlikely), it’ll just keep spinning its wheels in this diplomatic deadlock.

Discussion πŸ’¬ How strong are the Shan and Pa-O forces?

The RCSS and SSPP, rarely fought others except each other until last year.

And the PNA is regional militia of Tat and PNLA, a Pa-O revolutionary or leftist?

How strong are they? I’ve heard like PNA has 40,000 troops.

I’ve saw that everyone is competing for control of Southern Shan State since the Tat was weakened. PNA is mobilizing with Tat’s help. SSPP with UWSA help. RCSS also arrived to Danu region. PNLA trying to take Haihseng from PNA as well.

Do they have KIA level military? Or just like KNPP/KA level?

How strong are they in terms of manpower/business/equipment/experiences etc..

Others. Edit as needed. Need recommendations for learning Burmese regional words and dialects

I wanted to learn the dialects (α€’α€±α€žα€α€šα€…α€€α€¬α€Έ) for school works and translations (especially Merguese), and I have researched how different the dialects are depending on regions, but I wanted to study the speeches more. Any novels, books, TV shows and whatever could help, I just couldn't find specific media about this topic.
