Yeah, the CGI was not the problem. Superman had a lot of CGI, but it was a good movie. I was expecting more of that from Supergirl. It was OK, but fell far short after Superman. Same with Mandalorian. It was OK as well, but felt it should have been a lot more after the series ended.

Ya on the cgi part, mando was full of practical effects and sets. Like the whole selling point of grogu is he's a cute realistic puppet baby.

The story was definitely the weakest part of Mando and Grogu. While it was a fun romp, it felt like it should have come a couple years ago. It could easily have slotted in after the end of season 1 or somewhere in the middle of season 2 with minimal tweaks

Yeah I rather liked the effects in Mando, lots of love went into the effects and sets you could tell, it was the mediocre story and relentless pacing that got boring that sucked. Seriously, how do you manage to make non-stop action boring?

Tbf, the weakest scene from Superman was the CGI river of Bizarro cubes. Apart from that, it's a quality movie that doesn't get nearly enough praise.

Yeah, CGI just lets them try to do eye candy instead of story. It's more of a symptom. The author is conflating correlation with causation.

Disney couldn't assume that people going to Mandalorian and Grogu all saw 3 seasons of a TV show on a particular streaming service. I actually enjoyed the movie a lot; it felt like a simple fun action romp in the Star Wars universe that was finally not connected to any Skywalkers.

I thought it was one of the most pure SW products to come out in a long time. A fun summer sci fi action flick that you can take the whole fam to. That’s all I really need from SW.

Mandalorianand Grogu exists for Disney to test the viability of making disney+ properties into theater releases. It was a fine "empty calorie" popcorn movie and a moderate/small financial success. It exists more for business reasons than artistic ones.

The title is stupid. We're just getting saturated with Superhero, Star Wars, Disney remakes, etc., in television and movies, so when something more novel and well-produced comes along, you're going to get more people wanting to see it.
