This is unfair to The Mandalorian and Grogu, in my opinion. They built a lot of real sets, including many big enough for IMAX cameras, and made real puppets and practical elements for the movie. It was closer to The Odyssey, in terms of filming techniques, than a lot of big budget movies are.

One of the highlights of the movie, for me, is how many puppets were used. And there were several scenes with mostly puppets (almost like a modern Dark Crystal type thing). The movie had a lot of artistry in it for being a studio cash grab.

+ motion-controlled shots of ship models flying, and a full AT-AT interior. Lots of old-school filmmaking craft of the sort used in the original trilogy.

I don't go see it because it's s04 shoehorned into a movie.
