Harry Melling and roles where he plays a lonely man who has a problematic relationship with someone way out of his league, name a more iconic etc etc

Someone way out of his league who wants to stuff him.

u/wandering-wank 5h ago

That's the plot of Pillion right?

u/Heather_Hoodrat 4h ago

Touche You sunovabitch!

u/drugsbowed 5h ago

Dudley Dursley in shambles

u/Omatzus 5h ago

name a more iconic etc etc

You were one three letter word away from finishing the phrase lmao

u/safadancer 4h ago

He is the James Spader of the modern era

u/Solonotix 5h ago

I find it funny that the phrase you allude to is "name a more iconic duo," and "et cetera" is used to mean "and the rest." However, in this specific case, "etc." is only replacing "duo" so there would be no savings, but you then repeat "etc" for emphasis, using more letters in the attempt to abbreviate the turn of phrase.

Not trying to be mean, I just legitimately found it a funny occurrence.

That's funny, I just happened to rewatch The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and was going to say something like "Harry Melling and roles where he's a human specimen" etc.

Harry Melling has really been delivering some incredible acting (and role choices). Didn't expect the kid playing Dudley to grow into acting like this!

u/riegspsych325 ⊃∪⊃⪽ 5h ago

he, Radcliffe, and Pattinson have all managed to act their way out of the shadow of the HP movies that put them on the map. Good for them

u/thepinkyclone 4h ago

Pattison more related with twilight fame. But yeah good for them. They are real actors in my book. Not chasing just paycheck but want to expand themselfs

u/riegspsych325 ⊃∪⊃⪽ 4h ago

I probably should have specified that for his case but them all being in HP stuck in my head

u/Gooseloff 4h ago

I would argue all three of the mains did. Watson and Grint aren’t as high-profile, but they’ve both done some great/interesting work in the years since.

u/riegspsych325 ⊃∪⊃⪽ 4h ago

yeah, I was surprised to see Grint in a more serious role in Knock at the Cabin. Messy story but loved the performances in that one, didn’t expect a darker turn from him at all

u/thedoginthewok 2h ago

He was excellent in "The Servant" (apple TV show).

I didn't love the show as a whole, but I was surprised by his acting in this.

u/gmred91 3h ago

I am just learning the actor's name and find myself far more amused than I should be that the guy who played Dudley's name is actually "Harry"

u/jaembers 5h ago

So Compassionate Taxidermist Seeking Consenting Volunteer?

u/Audrey-Bee 4h ago

My first thought too. I'm surprised someone else has seen that movie

(the other movie is Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person, which is basically this premise, but vampire)

Time traveler going back to 2001: "You know, Daniel Radcliffe is going to grow up to have a successful career in a crazy variety of roles in all kinds of weird projects."

2001: "We can imagine that."

Time traveler: "Dudley, too."

2001: "Fuck outta here."

____________

I want to see Melling and Radcliffe make a buddy cop movie, or something like Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly did.

u/GoSpaceTruckin 3h ago

I’d throw in Pattinson and make a Hot Fuzz/Shawn of the Dead style flick.

u/ginchan_2020 5h ago

the more Jodie Comer the better !

u/11483708 5h ago

Didn't the IT crowd do something like this with the cannibal?

u/TheKiltedStranger 3h ago

Yeah, but they didn't actually want to be eaten, the wannabe-cannibal just had a really nice TV that they wanted to watch stuff on, and they kept stringing him along.

Rude.

u/GermanAf 29m ago

More or less based on real life cannibal Armin Meiwes who also had a song made about him!

u/NancyInFantasyLand 5h ago edited 5h ago

now this sounds like my kinda movieeeeee

Edit: lol went to put this onto ye olde Letterboxd watchlist and it was already there, seems like I've thought before this was my kinda movie haha

u/DeliciousStand372 5h ago

i LOVE Dudley hes such a great actor. Love him in Pale Blue Eye. cant wait to see him in this.

u/MiklaneTrane 5h ago

His name is Harry.

Unlike Harry, whose name is Daniel.

u/ZoomBoingDing 24m ago

Melling was great in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs too

u/SuperCoolCinema 4h ago

This started out as an AMAZING short film, seven or eight years ago. So glad the filmmakers got to turn it into a feature.

u/alexdelamuerte 4h ago

Jodie Comer lookin like Batman Returns-era Michelle Pfeiffer in that photo.

u/missmediajunkie r/Movies Veteran 3h ago

Being John Malkovitch era Cameron Diaz.

u/TheCosmicSpaceGoon 5h ago

So it’s when two people really match each other’s freak

u/Beard341 5h ago

I’ll watch anything Harry Melling is in.

u/namewithak 5h ago

He’s turned out to be a genuinely great actor since the HP days. He seems to constantly choose interesting roles and movies to be in. His role in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs still haunts me.

u/FreakinGuy 4h ago

Giving everything he's got to an audience of 3 drunk men, night after night after night. He nailed it.

u/sadranjr 4h ago

Amen. And I hope he’s in more and more things down the line. He’s a wonderfully unique and magnetic screen presence.

u/Zathras_listens 5h ago

Time to recommend Taxidermia. In it a man taxidermies himself.

u/elegantjihad 5h ago

So the story of Armin Meiwes, but gender swapped? DAS IST MEIN TEIL!

u/jjflash78 3h ago

First suffed by Skarsgard, now Comer

u/Affectionate-Tea8509 5h ago

Why she look like Michael Jackson

u/peepintom2020 4h ago

Why not, she was also the hottest Jesus I've ever seen

u/cappsy04 5h ago

Are we sure that's not Rami Malek in a wig

u/estellatundra 5h ago

This sounds amazing and insane. Can't wait to see it.

u/lythander 5h ago

Definitely not a sequel, so there is that.

u/Naive-Tangelo-3672 4h ago

This premise sounds completely unhinged, I'm in.

u/TheHurtfulEight88888 3h ago

Oh we are going balls to the wall in 2026.

u/amelie190 2h ago

Perfect casting!

u/geordiesteve520 1h ago

These two pick some really interesting roles

u/EatBooks 59m ago

Oh no. I need to see this.

u/_mcnz 35m ago

Why does Jodie Comer look like Rami Malek with a wig on this picture?

u/Pitiful_Selection_16 5h ago

What a great, original concept!

u/Lespaul42 4h ago

If you squint Jodie looks like Remi Malek in a wig...

u/Cfox666 5h ago

Kinda reminds me about "Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person"

u/Trueslyforaniceguy 5h ago

My poor dudders

u/Rampasta 5h ago

Dudley has been Harry all along

u/thestereo300 5h ago

Well, we complained Hollywood didn't have any original new ideas I guess...

u/SparkliestSubmissive 4h ago

He was great in Pillion! I’ll check this one out for sure.

u/icyfrost410 4h ago

Let me guess they start killing people on their own free will to stuff them?

u/bimbimbaps 3h ago

Though that was Garth Marenghi at first look.

u/blac_sheep90 3h ago

Nuts...I like it. Wanna see Melling and Radcliffe team up and make a weird movie together.

u/rabid_J 2h ago

1996's Kissed anyone? That's what the romance element makes me think of at least.

u/Fugiar 5h ago

Yo this sounds amazing but who comes up with stuff like this

u/ditchborn 5h ago

People with imaginations.

u/Fugiar 5h ago

More than 1? Damn

u/Nice_Marmot_7 3h ago

There was a guy who did this in real life with a cannibal. They met on the dark web.

u/_1489555458biguy 5h ago

Not Harry Melling on top of another TABLE.

IYKYK.
