I find it funny that the phrase you allude to is "name a more iconic duo," and "et cetera" is used to mean "and the rest." However, in this specific case, "etc." is only replacing "duo" so there would be no savings, but you then repeat "etc" for emphasis, using more letters in the attempt to abbreviate the turn of phrase.
