I notice there isn't a lot of Movie groups in the area and sometimes we might want to go to watch something but not alone so I decided to form one myself! This gives you an opportunity to watch something new and socialize with fellow fans of cinema:)

Anyone in Mountain View looking to adopt? I have been fostering these guys for the past few weeks after they were found abandoned in a mobile home park. They are great, healthy kittens. Though timid, they are very sweet and cuddly once you give them lots of petting. They love to play and are not aggressive towards people at all. They need a loving home with patient & caring people. They are a bonded pair so we hope for them to be adopted together. Located in Morgan Hill/Gilroy. Target has one that’s plain gray and one that’s plain navy amid the pink flowers. Books inc Mountain View has a couple general planners but no school year planners. Therapy on Castro says they won’t be getting any this year.

Or is there another way that students who get a mix of Google Classroom, canvas, and old-school written on the whiteboard assignments keep track when they’re not allowed to take out their phones?

I'm Maria Rose Francis, a PhD candidate in Urban Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, currently doing dissertation fieldwork in the Bay Area.

My research looks at South Asian everyday life in Silicon Valley and the wider Bay Area — the places people return to, the routes they travel, the groceries, temples, festivals, restaurants, and gatherings that make this region feel like home.

I recently got a NASA ames internship and I'm looking for affordable housing nearby. My budget is 1000-1600 per month, which I know will probably not last long in the bay. Does anyone have any recommendations? my stay would be from August 24- Dec 11

Dear Hacker Dojo Community,

For more than seventeen years, Hacker Dojo has been one of Silicon Valley’s rare open spaces for builders, founders, engineers, students, teachers, and tinkerers. It has been a place to meet co-founders, learn new skills, host events, build projects, and find community outside the walls of a school, company, or accelerator.

Now the Dojo is at a turning point.

Our current space is too small for the community we serve, and our lease is ending without the option to renew. To continue operating as a physical community space, Hacker Dojo must move.

We need to raise $420,000 by August 31 to secure and launch the next home for Hacker Dojo.

This campaign is not about preserving a space that no longer works. It is about building the next version of the Dojo: a larger, more useful, more sustainable home for technology learning, events, mentorship, collaboration, and hands-on building.

How the fundraising drive will work:

Pledge any amount toward the $420,000 goal.

Whether you can pledge $25, $250, $25,000, or help introduce us to someone who can make a larger contribution, your action now matters. If we reach our minimum goal of $390,000 by August 31, your pledge will be collected and used to fund the move into Hacker Dojo’s next space while we raise the additional $30,000. 

Also, you can participate in the online auction launching in August. Maker equipment, high-end artwork, and more will be available, with all proceeds going toward the campaign goal. 

If we reach the goal, we move forward into the next chapter of Hacker Dojo. If we fall short, your pledge will be returned.

What happens if we don’t get this fund?

If we do not, we will ramp down the current facility in September and transition to a different operating model while continuing the nonprofit’s mission.

We will share regular updates, answer questions openly, and host community discussions on July 15, August 2, and August 16.

Hacker Dojo has never been just a building, it’s been about a community, but having a shared physical home has made this community possible for seventeen years.

Now we need the community to help build the next one.

The Mountain View Buddhist Temple is holding their annual Obon Festival and Bazaar this weekend. There will be food, carnival games, live performances, and a plant sale!

The temple is located on Shoreline across the street from Safeway. There is dedicated event parking (parking info). Parking can get quite hectic, so I'd recommend walking if you live nearby.

Where are folks going to watch the FIFA finals around South Bay?

Hello, our dog will no longer be with us soon and I'd like to find a local artist who might take on a portrait of him. Open to different mediums, but mostly looking for leads if anyone knows a friend or professional that might be interested!

Would much rather buy local than from some online service. Open to professionals, art students etc., if you know someone I'd love to get in touch with them.

I would very much appreciate a few recommendations from the personal experience (first-hand or second-hand) for apartment complexes in Mountain View and around. I'd prefer not go much north but Sunnyvale or Los Altos are more than fine.

I'm looking for something where I can get a decently sized 1b1b (optionally with den) for anything below 5k (ideally <4.5k). I can try to consider a bit over but obviously would prefer not to. Decently sized - as in have enough space to put a couch with TV, working desk and have an area for sport equipment maintenance - think waxing table for skis or repair rack for bicycles. I guess 700+ sqft? That also heavily depends on layouts, of course.

Things I'm looking for besides the size are:

1. Safe parking, ideally with an option to pay for a second spot or with spots big enough to have room for a motorcycle with Chevy Equinox on a single spot. Enclosed garage is a dream but I didn't see much of complexes with them (I can recall Hiro in MTV with those). If there is an EV charging in the parking - that's a plus.
2. No pests/rats and overall clean.
3. Washer/dryer inside the unit and ideally horizontal loading ones.
4. Decent noise isolation - I don't care for people walking on my ceiling but I don't want complaints because I watch TV or play videogames at 11.30pm.

I don't care much for amenities like bbq, guest hall, or pools/hottubs, as I tend not to use them often.

I looked it up, hoping it would be something fun the community can enjoy but turns out it’s a skylight company… darn

Was crossing the street in the Cross Walk at Del Medio & Miller at the all way stop, I started crossing when the car was at the stop sign, then it rolled and I had to stop mid cross walk. This is ridiculous!
