If it wasn't for the load of other issues I'd embrace that. What? Bothered by me jerking off? It's Sunday morning and this is my room, watch somewhere else, you freak!

100% the reason I never gave a fuck about walking around my home naked after a shower. I got no shame and people outside have no right to complain.

Yeah, but the nearest shower is at the YMCA about 2 blocks north of here.

I'll forward the charges for public nudity to my landlord until I get one, I guess.

Not if you need to plug in that lamp that’s not plugged in on the night stand. Activities are limited to exposed night-time reading. And of course, charging your phone.

I must’ve seen “room” first when I pulled up the picture, because I didn’t even process “private.” Maybe they mean private from the other 15 people living there, at least once that door is closed.

Close up picture of the modern side table that comes with your own lamp, the contemporary table and stool for where you want to contemplate your life choices, under the plush duvet where you will be spending most nights when it’s cold, the magnificent view where you would wish you would just fall flat in to, the toilet that they so kindly allowed you to use, your small section of fridge space, the sky so you could check if god exists and ask why.
Oh and you can’t use the washing machine, sorry. Photo included so you would know what you could have but don’t.

u/Middle_Draft9152 13d ago edited 13d ago
You can actually insulate the balcony like that. We are doing it a lot in Russia.
Double or triple glazed windows with athermal coating + insulated window sashes + warm floor and it will be way better insulated from heat and severe cold (we have a range from +35 to –30 during a year here).
But still requires heating or cooling, of course. A lot, especially heating, because apart from the floor, there is nothing to accumulate the warmth.

u/DesireeThymes 13d ago
You really think this scamming piece of trash is thinking about insulating the tenant?
→ More replies (1)47
u/Ok_Subject1265 13d ago
From someone that once lived in a glassed in porch… you have no idea how cold it will get. You’re basically outside. That looks like insulate glass so it may trap some UV energy, but the wind up there will conduct any heat right off that glass. We actually lived on a back porch with single pane glass almost like a greenhouse, but being home meant dressing like you were camping during the winter.

→ More replies (1)77
u/blahblahblah1234_ 13d ago
That’s the beauty of it, you don’t need to plug it in because you have free light in the day. It’s for aesthetic purposes only. You wouldn’t understand without a background in interior design.

Photos of the living room that you’re not allowed to invite friends over to use it, the big kitchen that you’re only allowed to use the microwave, the washing machine that you’re only allowed to use once a week, and probably some city view showing how nice and luxury the city is meanwhile you live in a miserable balcony.

hahaha I was living in London when he did that glass box for a couple months only drinking water or whatever stunt. I remember someone dangling a burger from a drone that they flew up to the box - which also was just kinda crazy because drones were not very common around 2003/2004 when that happened.
edit: or, as I've been corrected, probably an RC helicopter of some sort since it was so long ago. Same difference I guess...? 🤔

Its never fair to compare a major metropolitan city to suburbs or rural areas. Not saying this isnt a insane listing but theres a reason rent doesnt stop people from living in these places.

"Private" room... Even those American bathroom stalls provide more privacy. Here, more than a dozen people can see you sleep and undress. Even as a man, this room makes me uncomfortable. Then there's also the temperature. On a hot summer day, it feels like this room becomes very humid and suffocating. No ventilation. You can't sleep when there's a thunderstorm outside. At least it's a room with a view near a busy area, so that's a plus at least.

I drove for a hour in LA to learn that the room that was up for rent was actually a small cot in the entryway of a 2 or 3 bedroom house. Just a few feet inside the front door. 800 bucks.
