I see some people in this thread saying you could actually say that and argue this is a bedroom, but I live in vancouver and no, you could not.

There are hundreds of postings like this meant to scam international students and new immigrants, or to boost a unit in the algorithm of a rental site.

This breaks about a thousand codes and is obviously illegal as a suite, but it also doesn't meet the legal requirements as a bedroom since it has no smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, heating and cooling, safe exiting in case of fire, etc..

South Africa. Culturally very similar to Australia and both have (mostly) Mediterranean climates. Wood is limited, homes are thick brick walls that don’t burn. Heating and cooling isn’t really needed.

I think carbon monoxide detectors are uncommon in Australia, since they're mainly useful for gas heating (i.e. something that is burning while you sleep). Australia (or at least Queensland) is hot enough that gas heating isn't necessary. Smoke detectors, however, were mandatory, I thought.

Fostering is a little different than state code. Their rules are a little bit more strict. The idea is that those people are having a child that's not there that's going to want a certain amount of privacy and independent space and places to keep their things that doesn't make them feel on display or like some kind of pet or science project. You can actually insulate the balcony like that. We are doing it a lot in Russia. 

Double or triple glazed windows with athermal coating + insulated window sashes + warm floor and it will be way better insulated from heat and severe cold (we have a range from +35 to –30 during a year here). 

But still requires heating or cooling, of course. A lot, especially heating, because apart from the floor, there is nothing to accumulate the warmth.

"Private" room... Even those American bathroom stalls provide more privacy. Here, more than a dozen people can see you sleep and undress. Even as a man, this room makes me uncomfortable. Then there's also the temperature. On a hot summer day, it feels like this room becomes very humid and suffocating. No ventilation. You can't sleep when there's a thunderstorm outside. At least it's a room with a view near a busy area, so that's a plus at least.
