I’m just wondering… is it just me, or is making new friends in Milan weirdly difficult?
I’m a very social, outgoing person (I don’t speak Italian yet, though), and since moving here last year I’ve really struggled to find my people.
I’ve taken pretty much every piece of advice I could find—Meetups, social events, language exchanges, you name it. I’m not really into dating apps, though, so maybe that’s part of the problem?
I also go to techno parties and open airs quite often, but let’s be honest—most people are there for the music, not necessarily to make long-term friends, so I get that.
I’m not a student or a mum either, so those communities don’t really apply to me.
Do you guys have any suggestions for meeting people here and actually building real friendships? It’s summer, there’s so much going on—events, lakes, swimming pools, wine bars, vinyl bars… it feels like the perfect time to have a group to do all that with.
Am I doing something wrong? Is learning Italian really the missing piece?
If you’ve cracked the code, please share your wisdom… or just DM me. xx
