I tried all sort to get the game to play in windowed mode on a Mac, because I couldn't get CheatEngine to register the fact that the game was playing.

Anyway, I got past the bug by doing the following. get as close as you can to just above the cave entrance, near where Damir is stuck. I crouched and tried to slide down the rock face. Admittedly, I did hurt myself at the bottom and needed a quick jab, but as if by magic, Damir appeared next to me and gave me the boost into the cave. Just keep moving towards the rock face to break your descent so you don't die.

I have a problem with achievements that needs completing a level in order to get them it doesn’t unlock none of the levels achievements unlock what should i? I even restarted the game to play a different walkthrough and it doesn’t work

So I'm playing the PC Enhanced Edition of Metro Exodus on my high-end PC. I do also have a low-end gaming laptop I often use when not home, and I'm about to spend a week away, but I'd like to keep playing when possible. My question is if I could keep using my PCEE save through steam cloud on the base edition, since my laptop probably can't handle the upgraded version, or if I'd have to download both versions for the steam cloud to upload the save data correctly.

TL;DR: If your flashlight died at the Taiga dam (or Volga/Caspian) and no amount of cranking the charger brings it back — the animation plays but the meter never fills — your save is corrupted, and it's fixable in ~10 minutes without replaying anything. I hit this bug last week and went down the rabbit hole. What I figured out by digging into the save files:

The temporary flashlight shutdown inside the dam anomaly is intended. It staying dead forever is not — despite Deep Silver writing it off as "a feature" back in 2019. The corruption lives in the per-chapter .player snapshot file (e.g. m3_13_deadcity.player in your save folder), which stores your inventory and devices at the chapter start. That's why nothing in-game fixes it: reloading, recharging, replaying Autumn into Dead City — every path rebuilds your state from the same corrupted snapshot. It's also why the old "load Taiga then reload your chapter" trick works for some people and not others: it only helps if your snapshot is still healthy.

The fix: replace that ONE file with the same file from any healthy donor save (e.g. the Nexus "Enhanced Edition Save File" mod). You keep your whole playthrough, world saves, and story/karma choices — you only inherit the donor's loadout at the chapter start. Tested on the Enhanced Edition: flashlight charged instantly after the swap. Donor saves from the original edition work in EE too.

The GitHub repo has the full step-by-step manual instructions plus a PowerShell script that backs up your save folder and does the swap safely (it refuses donors for the wrong level).

Prevention if you haven't hit it: turn your flashlight AND night vision off before entering the dam anomaly at the end of The Taiga, and don't touch them until you're out.

Hope this saves someone the frustration — this thing has been unfixed for seven years.

Currently on PS5 after finishing the game many times on PS4 previously but I haven't actually tried to get all the achievements until just recently.

I finished ranger hardcore and only have a few left that I need to do. They are Forest Child, Last Breath, Sniper and both Old World Pictures plus Librarian.

Last Breath is buggy for me so I skipped it and forgot about it. And I wasn't mentally prepared to commit to Forest Child on ranger hardcore. I only have a single diary and post card left in the game and they're both in Taiga

But I didn't realise that I can't change my difficulty from ranger hardcore unless I start a new save slot but that resets my chapter progression.

Is there a work around here or do I just commit to a New Game+ playthrough on reader difficulty and see if I can speed run it?

I lost all of my progress in game idk how, I have tried to download files and replace it with mine in user/metro folder still it doesn't work for me. There is something I am missing????? (Game is downloaded from epic games.)

I saw that steam version are 59gb only, because it got a huge discount on Microsoft store so I managed to bought it on Microsoft store and why the metro exodus on Microsoft store cost me 140.2GB????

I finally dove into the metro series when it went on a huge steam sale. I absolutely loved the first two games but I played them on ranger survival in my first playthrough. Now that I'm about to start exodus I find the difficulty I've played all the previous games on gone. Is there a mod for having the atmospheric feeling of ranger without the hard-core difficulty? I really liked the immersion of ranger but didn't want to make my playthrough terribly difficult.

It remains one of my favorite VR scenes across all games (with VorpX on Reverb G2).

Note : it's even better in VR with the enhancement filters (and 3840p).

Usually, I’m more focused on gameplay, but I spent a lot of time here simply gazing at the view.

I also love the Volga (especially the Terminal and the Church), and the Aurora during daylight and the breathtaking views of frozen Moscow, which are better with Standard version (you can see further and there is no DOF/blur, also it's darker and more realistic, with better contrast between light and shadow).

This game was a blast in 2019 on my 1080p monitor / projector, but it's still a blast in 2026 in Full VR on Reverb G2. The reason is : it's probably the most optimized game ever.

I loaded into the game on steam and the game crashed as soon as the exe was opened. I was locked on a black screen and could not alt+tab, alt+f4, or do anything to get rid of the game. I had to restart my pc and when I logged back on I was logged out of every single website and app. Has this happened to anyone else before or do i have the evil fucked up copy of Metro?

I'm currently reading Metro 2034, and while I'm enjoying the world and the atmosphere, the constant switching between characters is starting to frustrate me.

It feels like every time something important or exciting is about to happen, the story jumps to another character or another location. It keeps breaking the tension for me, and I'm finding it hard to stay invested.

Did anyone else feel this way while reading it? Does the narrative become more focused later on, or is this just the writing style throughout the whole book?
