What am I missing in targeting? Small Breed Dog Owners Are Overtepresented in my ads

Upvotes

Hey everyone, I run Meta Ads for a raw dog food brand. I am targeting a broad audience (all dog owners and every breed) but the vast majority of my engagement and conversions come from small breed owners (pomerians, french etc mostly) I am getting almost no conversions from medium/large breed owners. By the way, they are conversions that come from Whatsapp messages because the client want to sell with talking to his clients. Because everybody wanna know which food is better for their dogs or how much should they give.

Thing I’m trying to figure out:

- Is this typically the algorithm self-optimizing (i.e., the system learns “who ever clicks more gets show more” and drifts toward small beewd owners)

- How do I break this kind of bias in Meta’s targeting? Does manual interest targeting (large beeed dog owners) actually help or is broad is better approach?

Has anyone dealt with something similar, especially running ads for?

Low lead volume + low quality on Click-to-WhatsApp ads for a study/work abroad program - need advice

Upvotes

Hey all, I run Meta ads (Click-to-WhatsApp format) for a Work and Travel program targeting 18-23 year olds. A few issues I'm trying to solve:

• Volume is low-not getting nearly as many conversations started as I'd expect for the ad spend.
• Quality is worse — a big chunk of the people who do open a WhatsApp chat go silent afterward and never respond, even though we reply almost instantly (within minutes).

Some context: it's a seasonal product (people apply mostly in specific months before summer), age targeting is 18-23, and follow-up speed isn't the issue since we already respond fast.
Things I'm trying to figure out:

• Is Click-to-WhatsApp inherently lower-intent than a landing page + form, since starting a chat is such a low-friction action? Would switching to a landing page with a slightly longer form (e.g. asking about English level, visa status, availability) filter out low-intent people even if it drops volume?
• Any tips for improving message/creative to pre-qualify people before they even click?
(e.g. stating eligibility requirements clearly in the ad copy/creative itself)
• For those running ads for seasonal/study-abroad/travel programs — did narrowing or adjusting age/interest targeting help with lead quality, or was creative the bigger lever?
Anyone had success with an automated qualifying message on WhatsApp (like a quick 2-3 question flow) before a human takes over the conversation?
Would appreciate any experience from people who've run similar programs (study abroad, work and travel, au pair, etc.) — what actually moved the needle for you, volume or quality-wise?

Meta ads account restricted due to "compromise", terrible support, feeling lost

Upvotes

Hey all, I'm new to the sub and admittedly here because I figure some of you may have experienced this at some point. If so, I'm sorry, if not, I hope you never do.

I've had the worst experience with Meta support and I hope someone can help. I won't go into excruciating detail but here's a summary:

-Account was restricted two weeks ago due to a supposed security breach.

-We have two different notices about the restriction on two different pages (compromised account and breaking community guidelines) and no actual way to appeal. I've seen guides that show a button to appeal, but that button doesn't exist in our dashboard.

-We've opened 5+ tickets. Each one eventually gets abandoned and the status is set as "Resolved".

-The only way we've made progress so far is by subscribing to Meta Verified for priority support. (Wild that we have to pay a subscription fee on top of tens to hundreds of thousands in ad spend per year just to get support.)

-Meta chat system is bugged so we can't view conversation history, we can only see the preview of the most recent message from the dashboard. This supposedly a known bug because one of the many support agents we've talked to said they've dealt with it a number of times and know to write short messages. Thankfully, they've started calling us instead.

-One agent told us the account was restricted due to a payment failure and asked to take payment over the phone. When we pushed back that our account was in good standing the agent basically said, "oh, you're right, my bad."

-One agent told us there isn't actually a compromise and our account would be reinstated within 24 hours.

-The following agent said no, they lied, and in his experience, issues like this take 4-8 weeks to resolve. That same agent advised us to break TOS by creating a new ads account to continue running ads while our main account is disabled. This is a direct breach of the TOS and when we highlighted this fact, the agent backpedalled hard.

-We've asked for the issue to be escalated to management. The agent said they don't have a supervisor.

Important to note that all of these conversations originate in Meta support chats, and the agents can verify our account info, so they're definitely Meta employees, not fraudsters. It's just strange.

Our agency pivoted to Google Ads in the meantime and we're running Pinterest ads.

I just want to know if there's anyone out there that has experienced support like this and if it's par for the course. If not, any recommendations would be appreciated.

Best Meta Ads objective for getting paid event registrations?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

For those who have experience running Meta ads for paid one-day events or conferences, which campaign objective has worked best for you?

Engagement

Traffic

Leads

We don't have a website. We'll be linking people to a Linktree page that contains instructions on how to register. From there, users can choose one of three Google Forms:

Regular registration

Student registration

Group registration

This is my first time running a campaign with an objective other than Awareness. My goal is to get participants that can register and pay the event/conference fee.

Has anyone run a similar setup? Which objective would you recommend, especially if you're sending traffic to Linktree and Google Forms instead of a website?

Thanks in advance!

What fixed our Meta Ads performance wasn’t the targeting.

One thing I’ve noticed after managing multiple Meta ad accounts:
Most brands think the problem is audience targeting.
In reality, it’s usually one of these:
Weak creatives
Slow product pages
Poor offer positioning
No structured creative testing
Bad post-click experience
Recently, after improving only the creative angle and landing page, the account started converting much more efficiently without increasing ad spend.
Curious…
What’s been the biggest challenge with your Meta Ads lately?
Happy to share what has worked for us.

Personal account banned- any tips how to try to recover it?

Hi everyone, I have an issue with Meta ads manager from the beginig of July. Every few days I cannot publish the ad sets, it's showing error Something went wrong: We're having trouble with completing your request. Please try again. (#1487470)

I was on a call with their support first time this happened and they gave some workarounds on how to get ad sets published (remove some placements from the ad set). It worked for some, but not for all of them. But because a lot of the ad sets were published, they restricted my personal account from advertising. Few days after, they banned me. I have second account now, and the same error persists. Anybody else with the same issue? Now I cannot publish any ad sets as I'm afraid they will ban my second account as well.

I'm frustrated to the max

Meta Ad set stuck in Learning Phase "restricted event data" from a restricted-category domain

So I'm managing Meta ads for a client and running into something I haven't dealt with before.

I'm optimizing for Add to Cart since they're entering a new market on a limited budget — there's no room to spend on a separate Traffic or Landing Page View stage that doesn't directly drive revenue, so every euro needs to work toward the sales goal from the start. Traffic looks fine, CTR is solid, but I've got zero tracked Add-to-Carts and the ad set just won't leave the learning phase.

Dug into it and it looks like Meta has the domain sitting in a restricted category — something to do with pregnancy/women's health products — which limits which events the pixel is even allowed to pass through — so ATC just isn't registering, no matter how much traffic comes in.

Has anyone actually been through a review like this?

  • How long did it take in reality, not just what Meta says?
  • Would you bother duplicating the ad set with a different optimization event (Link Click or Landing Page View) in the meantime, or is that more hassle than it's worth?

Would love to hear your opinion!

Thank you!

How are you currently handling monthly Meta Ads reports for clients?

Curious how other people running Meta ads for multiple clients handle this — still doing it manually (screenshots, pulling numbers into a doc), or found something that works better?

Asking because I built a tool that connects to your Meta Ads account (read-only, can't touch campaigns or spend) and generates a branded client PDF report in under a minute. Looking for one agency to actually try it and tell me honestly what's broken — free for 3 months.

Not selling anything here, genuinely want to know if this is a real pain point for others too.

Built a tool to auto-generate Meta Ads client reports — looking for 1 agency to test it free

If you're running Meta Ads for multiple clients and still spend hours every month manually pulling numbers and writing reports — I built something that might help.

It connects to your Meta Ads account (read-only, can't touch your campaigns or spend) and generates a branded PDF report for your client in under a minute.

Not selling anything — genuinely just need one agency willing to try it and tell me honestly what's broken. Comment or DM if interested.

Meta ads not converting

I’m a beginner with meta ADS. And I don’t understand why I’m not converting!

Spent 150$ overall on a campaign, 10K impressions but only ONE sale. And I’m confused because I believe my website is good, and speed is okay, and CTR is 2%.

Main thing I noticed is that the link clicks I received are 213, but only 18 website landing page.

Anyone has faced this?

How do i do a follow ad for a band now…

Our band is trying to increase our followers. You used to be able to run an ad and it would have a follow button on it under engagement. Basically trying to make an ad and get likes for a page. Facebook/Meta has changed that and now you can’t run those ads. Any suggestions on how I should promote to increase the band’s follows now?

Rakshabandhan campaign strategy: one campaign with 3 ad sets vs 3 separate campaigns?

Running Meta ads for 6+ products already, all performing well individually. Want to run a dedicated Raksha Bandhan (Indian gifting festival, short ~2 week window) push for our 3 bestsellers, all similar price point, same category (bags/accessories), single-product creative each (tested carousels before, they underperformed vs single-product ads).

Trying to decide between:

Option A: 1 campaign, CBO at campaign level, 3 ad sets (one per product), broad/Advantage+ targeting per ad set, differentiated only by creative/copy angle.

Option B: 3 separate campaigns, one per product, own budget each (ABO).

Concerns with Option A: worried CBO might just starve one ad set of budget early and I won't catch it in time given the short festival runway. Also not sure if broad targeting across 3 ad sets in one campaign causes audience overlap or self-competition in the auction.

Has anyone run something similar (short festival window, multiple similar SKUs, single-product creative)? Did CBO handle the reallocation well, or did you end up switching to ABO or separate campaigns mid-flight? How fast did you have to react?

My Meta Ads keep on showing delivery error!

In my Ad manager, I was putting ads in meta. However, Everytime I try to run ad, first it shows processing then shows delivery error. In Delivery Error, they are showing it might take 5-7 days to resolve the issue.

I changed page, ad account and everything. But the problem is still there?

Can anyone tell me, what happened here? How can I solve this problem?

First App Install Campaign on Meta – Confused About Account Structure & Optimization Strategy

Hey everyone,

I'm running my first-ever Meta App Install campaign for a dairy brand's mobile app, and I'm trying to set things up the right way from the start. I've gone through Meta's documentation, but I'd love to hear what people who run app campaigns at scale actually do.

A few things I'm confused about:

  • Should I use Dynamic Creative, or should I publish multiple individual ads and let Meta optimize?
  • Is it better to have one broad/open targeting ad set, or should I create multiple ad sets with different audiences?
  • Should I start with an App Installs optimization campaign, or should I optimize for an in-app event (registration, first purchase, etc.) from day one?
  • If the app is brand new with very little conversion data, what's the best optimization strategy?
  • How many creatives do you usually launch with initially?
  • Do you prefer CBO or ABO for new app install campaigns?
  • Any account structure (campaign → ad set → ads) that has consistently worked well for you?

The app has AppsFlyer integrated, and postbacks to Meta are configured, so event tracking is available.

I'd really appreciate advice from people managing app install campaigns with decent budgets. If you were launching a new app from scratch today, how would you structure the account?

Thanks in advance!
