Do any of you have happy ending recommendations for fics where Arthur is pathetically in love, but also emotionally constipated so he is not showing it at all, and Merlin is convinced Arthur doesn't care about him at all?

It can also be just that Merlin is oblivious, and Arthur actually is showing it plainly and everyone knows it. Bonus point if everyone is trying to convince him otherwise, but he's like nah if i die tomorrow, he'll just be annoyed he will need to find a replacement?

I've read a few like this and i want more until I have time to write my own, please 🩷

Noticed that after the magic reveal he usually demonstrates his magic with a butterfly or a dragon. So which one do you love more?

I'm talking about him specifically showing it on purpose. Even when his magic is revealed in during a fight, there is usually a moment when someone (mostly Arthur) asks him to do something, be usually chooses one of these two.

I feal like i like both of them. A butterfly is great because it shows his gentle nature and that magic doesn't have to be dangerous. It can absolutely show his power if he creates thousands of them at once (horrible for the ecosystem, but shhhhh). Plus there is all the symbolism of change, new beginning, evolution and so on

And a dragon is beautiful because it shows his strength (my favourite is when he creates one out of the coal, sparks and fire). Plus it's the Pendragon crest, and Merlin is the last dragolord. Dragons are magical beings, so he is demonstrating his magic with a magical being he can control. Layers of symbolism yet again

I think it depends o if you're going for a cutesy merlin ora powerful merlin. Though I'm sure he can be both!

Basically Merlin lives with Arthur in his flat despite having more than enough money to live alone. They’re best friends I can’t remember if they met in Uni or before that. Arthur also works for his father’s company and i think it’s pretty hard on him. Merlin was a pharmacist?! Honestly not sure.

I might be mixing up fics but I think at some point they start hooking up and Arthur denies or avoids his feelings altogether and Merlin kind of avoids him. I can’t remember is Merlin was openly bi/gay but I remember he wasn’t freaking out and questioning his sexuality.

Some important scenes in the fic I can remember are Arthur and Merlin go visit Merlin’s mother a few hours away for a few days to get away. Merlin loves to read and they’re at some sort of market where he buys a lot of books. I think Gwen and Morgana are dating in this fic, I remember they had some sort of house warming party. Arthur also gets jealous because Merlin’s coworker is interested in Merlin and pursues him.

I genuinely think I’m mixing up two fics together or they’re by the same author. But if you have any idea what please let me knowww.

Ok I need a fic where Merlin goes missing because of an enemy ruler but no one knows that’s why yet , just that Arthur is angry since he find his Merlin. So like most of Camelot’s army start searching through all the different kingdoms, all the lords give them supplies, all without Arthur’s orders or knowledge because Arthur can’t be without his love for even a day😂

I read a fic maybe a year ago that if i remember correctly was under 20k and probably a oneshot where merlin mess dinner than the person responsible for servants salary treats merlin badly and i think never give him his salary so he passed out from hunger and bad health
Arthur was soo scared and baffled by the reason he can’t fathom why merlin passed out and was like”but you steal my food all the time and sure you’ve got food”
I remember after arthur asked a lot of questions about how the servants are treated and demanded the person responsible to change their wages are such

I’m looking for a merthur fic I read years ago on Ao3. Modern AU with magic. Morgana runs a bar(?) and Arthur as a favor does construction/woodwork for it. He carves a dragon into whatever he builds and when Merlin touches the carving he get’s glimpses of Arthur’s feelings.

I *think* Merlin is also Arthur’s roommate? And Arthur is renovating the house they live in? But I may be combining fics.

Okay so when I was into Merlin the first time, like, literally 8-10 years ago I read a fic that I was thinking about today.

Its a Methur fic, smut really, very short. Like probably somewhere between 1k-3k words. The entirety of it, i think, takes place on Arthur throne, and the fic is basically about topping va control. It has Arthur bottoming, I think, but the fic is basically like 'yeah Arthur's bottoming, but hes in the one in control.' (Bc of Merlin's magic i just dont likr him topping, but thid is an exception) The fic itself might have been called Control. I tried searching AO3, where I am sure i read it, but all that did was show me 37k Merthur fics.

Anyone remember this? Or read it?

Its a magic reveal where Merlin gets absorbed(?) into Arthur's consciousness or something along those lines where Arthur can sense/hear Merlin's thoughts and protective streak.

Hi everyone, I am looking for a fanfiction that I read I think two years ago, I am trying to find it again but it seems disappeared, it's driving me crazy!

The plot I remember goes like this: starts with a scene of Arthur with another prince (I don't remember the name but he's probably an OC). Uther and the other king are friends, while Arthur is courteous with the other prince but doesn't have a good opinion of him. Then the foreign king dies and the other prince becomes king. The new king goes to a witch and asks for a spell that has an high price (the king newborn child) in order to have the whole of Camelot enchanted. Everyone in Camelot thinks that the new king is the real crown prince of Camelot, and that Arthur is the foreign king that took his place with a spell. It's clear in the story that it is not a body swap situation. Arthur is described as blond and blue eyed, while the "fake" Arthur is described as black haired, but everyone thinks that their prince is dark haired instead that blond. Merlin too is affected, in the beginning. Arthur gets apprehended and I think flogged, and thrown in the dungeon to await execution. I think that the spell becomes complete with the death of Arthur, but I am not sure. While Arthur is not having a good time in the dungeons, the fake crown prince acts differently from Arthur, leaving everyone, Merlin more than most, baffled. He also dismisses Merlin for another servant, that is the one who helped him with the spell. Merlin goes to see the "prisoner", and somehow believes Arthur. Merlin then helps Arthur escape the dungeons and they flee from Camelot.
Uther then decides to march with the army to the fake prince kingdom, to start a war. Arthur and Merlin go the same way, to stop him. I remember that during the journey to the other kingdom Arthur is very hurt, and Merlin very caring and protective.
When they arrive at the kingdom they infiltrate the Camelot camp and steal armour I think, then Arthur takes a horse and galops to Uther and the fake prince. Even the enemies soldier are also under the influence of the spell. Arthur challenges the fake prince in a duel to the death, instead of going to war. Here the fake prince shows his cowardice because at first he refuses, but under pressure of Uther I think he has to accept. Arthur defeats him easily, killing him and ending the curse.

So, I really can’t remember much of the story, but I’ve got this one scene absolutely stuck in my head. It is a Murther fic. Merlin and Arthur are in Arthur’s room. They are either both sitting around the fireplace, or Merlin is sitting by the fireplace and Arthur is at his desk. Merlin is eating a bowl of snacks (nuts I think, maybe fruit) and Arthur asks for some. Merlin then levitates the bowl over to Arthur without realizing he was doing so and revealing his magic. Arthur doesn’t even notice at first and then they both realize what he did.

Please help me, I’m desperate to re-read this fic and I just can’t find it 😭

I some fanfictions like that so here's an example of what it could be: a sorcerer says that you can't create any life without taking a life. And Merlin is like "yea well except animals". And the sorcerer looks at him like Merlin had no idea what he's talking about. All the knights and Arthur look at him in pity beacsue tbey think Merlin just doesn't know anything. And then Merlin just goes and creates butterflies or any other animals. When the sorcerer is shocked and says it's impossible, Merlin goes "I did this with 3. Sound like you're just not that good at magic🤨"

Or Merlin just does his thing, using magic casually and noone bats an eye because none if yhem know anythign about magic. Then someone who does know magic sees it and is shocked Merlin doesn't need a spell or to even think about doing something, but still is in full control. And everyone, including Merlin, is surprised that that's not normal and that, apperantly, Merlin is really powerful.

Basically anythig with a concept like this. Even if there are no wirnesses and it's just Merlin reading a book or somthing. Or that others realise it from afar without telling Merlin.

I've read a couple of fics where Merlin is able to physically fight and proficiently use weapons (I forget the titles but a lot were under the murder think!Merlin tag on ao3, one was when Arthur's knight taught him over different years and one was when as a joke the knights had him fight Mordred and he completely humiliated him and them as consequence, plus For The Want Of A Nail with his quarterstaff).

I wonder if anyone has recommendations for any other works following the "competent melee fighter Merlin" trope.

Anyone know any fics where merlin actually succeeds in saving arthur by reaching the lake in time or something, and then the fic goes on from there?? I really like the idea of such a story, and really really wanna read it, but am having trouble finding such fics. Any and all recs are appreciated 🙏

Per quanto ne so che è meglio avere i segnalibro le Fanfiction che amo particolarmente le lascio aperte su una scheda Chrome, stavo cercando una Fanfiction di Merlin tra le schede e mi sono accorta di non averla, ho cercato tra i segnalibro e mi sono accorta di non averla segnata perché avevo la scheda... So che è interamente colpa mia ma sono disperata, ho guardato l'intero percorso del mio Chrome ma non la trovo, come posso fare? se qualcuno sa il titolo è una Fanfiction di 5 volte in cui Merlin impara a usare un'arma (balestra, pugnali, lancia, spada, corpo a corpo) e una volta in cui sfrutta questa abilità davanti ai cavalieri... Se nessuno lo sa, c'è un modo per vedere dove ho lasciato i kudons o i commenti che ho lasciato io invece delle semplici risposte?
