Asante Rehab Closure

I work at the Asante Rehab department, today we were all called into a meeting and told that Medford and Grants pass rehab departments will be closed starting August 28th.

And all the Physical Therapists and staff will be laid off.

This will be the end of specialized PT and OT in Southern Oregon for those on OHP and Medicare.

Because Asante accepts OHP they are one of the only PT clinics that most southern Oregonians can go to for specialized care ( like limphadema, orthopedic specialists, etc).

Asante should be sold

Cheapest eye exam

Hey! I need an eye exam pretty bad but we are extremely tight on money and I'm hoping for some recommendations for places that offer affordable exams so I'm not spending hundreds between the exam and glasses. I don't have insurance unfortunately. Thank you!

Wedding Coordinator

Upvotes

Looking for recommendations on a coordinator for a ~50 person wedding next spring. Our wedding will be out near Buncom, south of Jacksonville. I tried googling but I feel as if I’m only finding the fancy expensive options. Bonus points if you know of affordable photography/videography!

RCC Machining Program

Hello r/Medford. I recently moved down here within the last year, and got a job at a local machine shop. I will soon qualify for tuition assistance through work, and was exploring the idea of going through RCC’s machining program for manual machining/CNC programming. However, in talking to coworkers and other folks in the area, RCC’s reputation seems lackluster. I’m curious if anyone has any experience going through RCC as a student, especially if it was/is through the machining program, and if they might share their thoughts on their experience so I can gauge whether or not it’s worth going through. Thank you all for your time!

ISO Professional Salon that’s not MAGA

As the title states - I am happy to pay professional, big city salon prices for hair cuts & color but the last few I’ve tried were miserable. I cannot be held hostage in the chair for hours listening to MAGA, MAHA, isn’t Trump the greatest insanity. I’m sorry but I do not want to support the livelihood of someone who has voted to harm mine.

What entirely entirely non-political or left-leaning salons or stylists can you recommend for women’s hair, anywhere in Medford/Ashland? Thanks in advance for your help 🙏🏻💁‍♀️

Food consumer behavior

Hello guys! I recently moved to the area from Seattle as family needs my support. Besides the cheese and wine experiences, I have noticed the food scene is slowly improving, but I constantly hear people complaining, mostly about pricing even if the food and service are great. There are some places that have great food just as bigger cities and are worth the price IMO. Why the constant complaining? Is it cultural? Please help me understand.

Edit: you guys made me chuckle and smile with your comments! Needed that.

r/SouthrnOregon

Hello, everybody! I'm u/FallenStorm7694. Recently I was scrolling reddit looking at some local subs, and noticed Southern Oregon doesn't have a dedicated subbredit. There's the large regional subreddits r/Oregon or r/PNW, then theres a few city subreddits like r/Medford, r/KlamathFalls, r/Roseburg, r/grantspass, r/Ashland, r/CoosBay, and a few smaller ones here and there. I was inspired to do this because of the current wildfires, and I wanted to create a place where everyone in the region could share news and updates.

I'm a lifelong local to the region, and thought it would be great if we had our own thing, so I created r/SouthrnOregon this last Saturday. It's still definitely in its infancy, so any suggestions on how to improve it are more than welcome, so are any questions you have. All things Southern Oregon are allowed, including wildfire updates, regional news, nature, wildlife, arts, culture, food, entertainment, special events, local politics, history, and businesses. Basically if it's about Southern Oregon, it's allowed in r/SouthrnOregon.

If any of this interests you, please feel free to come join the subreddit, and we can build this new community together!

trip to medford

my brother and i live in iowa and are looking to come out to medford in the next week or two. our dad died and we have to get his belongings and deal with whatever else we may have to deal with while we are there.

i popped into this sub to get an idea of the area and where we might fly into or stay while there and see the posts about the fires. just curious what the locals think in terms of us flying out there right now. is sooner better than waiting? is waiting to see if the fires go out/shift a better idea?

if it is safe to come, any recommendations for a place to stay or places to eat would be great! appreciate any help or advice anyone has to offer! thanks in advance

Curious about Medford

When I was flying out of Portland to Tri Cities Washington yesterday the gay next to me was going to Medford Oregon! I’ve lived on the Washington Idaho border my whole life and I really don’t know much about that area or that they were big enough to have daily Alaska Airlines flights to them! I’m curious what it’s like there now?

“Winds and Dry Conditions Continue to Challenge Containment on East Evans Creek Fire
As of 7:15 PM last night (7/18) the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has implemented upgraded evacuation levels in affected areas.

Evacuations: There are evacuations in place in both Jackson and Douglas counties, issued by both counties’ Sheriff’s Offices and Emergency Management. Up-to-date evacuations are available here. Find your evacuation zone here.

There is a community meeting planned for Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. to provide a brief operational update on the fire: In Person: Shady Cove School Gym, 100 Cleveland St, Shady Cove, OR 97539 Stream online here.

Firefighters on the East Evans Creek Fire worked overnight to hold and improve control lines, taking advantage of improved humidity recoveries to moderate fire behavior and secure areas impacted by yesterday evening’s wind-driven activity.
On the Board Mountain spot fire, crews continued engaging areas where fire crossed control lines on the southwestern edge south of Boswell Mountain. Firefighters made progress working to tie the spot fire into existing lines, though steep terrain and limited access continue to challenge suppression efforts.

Today, wildland and structural firefighting resources are being strategically repositioned to the southern edge of the Board Mountain spot fire to rapidly engage the area where fire crossed established control lines. This focused effort is intended to take advantage of current conditions, strengthen suppression actions, and improve containment in that area. Fire behavior is expected to challenge firefighters as conditions change this afternoon.

The main fire and the spot fire northwest of Hull Mountain remain in hold and mop-up status. Crews are strengthening existing lines, removing hazard trees, and using handheld infrared technology to locate and extinguish remaining heat.
On the Canyon Creek spot fire, firefighters maintained containment while continuing to deepen mop-up operations.
Structure protection efforts expanded into the Antioch, Pomeroy, and Jones Road areas as forecasted winds and dry conditions increased the potential for fire to impact homes. Crews conducted structural preparation and improved water availability, building on earlier planning efforts to ensure a rapid and effective response as conditions evolve. Today, structural resources will continue reinforcing these measures while working in coordination with wildland firefighters.
Additional crews and equipment are also positioned alongside local resources to strengthen initial attack capability, ensuring a rapid response to any new fire starts and increased fire behavior under today’s forecasted hot, dry, and windy conditions.

Aircraft will support ground operations as conditions allow. To improve early-day aviation access, five of the helicopters have been relocated out of the inversion zone, allowing the aircraft to begin flying earlier in the day as visibility improves.
Due to increased fire activity across the state, an infrared flight was not completed overnight. As a result, updated acreage and maps will not be available today.”

Hey y'all,

Looking for a memorial venue recommendation for my wife.

Looking to avoid funeral homes & churches if possible.

Size is probably 300+.

Bonus points if there's a reception area as well.

Been racking my brain but it's not working at full tilt atm.

TIA.
