I have a 40 card deck. The list is pretty traditional, except with an emphasis on board breakers:
Monsters (27):
2 Veilers
2 Drolls
1 Rotary
1 Roach
2 Mix
2 Clip
1 Ghost Ogre
3 Ash
2 Ghost Belle
2 Reco
3 Cue
3 Fuwa
3 Fydraulis
Spells (11):
1 Synchro Overtake
2 Duelist Genesis
3 KT Synchro
1 JJ KT
1 Called by
1 Crossout
2 Fallen & Virt (I'm going to craft the third if I don't pull it)
Traps (2):
2 Evenly Matched
Here's how my last game went (just skip this if uninterested, the tl;dr: is at the bottom):
Turn 1: Going first. Hand is 2 Fallen & Virt, 2 Fuwa, 1 Evenly Match. Decide to go all in for the Fuwa and just pass. In retrospect probably should've set one Fallen and used it first thing, but I wasn't sure if he would start right off with the special summons, also was paranoid since I don't have a 3rd Virt he'd know I had them bricking my hand.
Turn 2: Up against Radiant Typhoon. He does draw phase shenangans to play around Droll. Main phase he specials Eldam + effect, Specials Swen + effect, at this point I figure he's committed and do first Fuwa, he Ashes, I do second Fuwa, it goes off. Sure enough, he links for Varuroon and I draw..... Called by. Fuck. He does some more stuff, activates Meghala and I draw... Ash. He activates Krosea, I Ash (idk if this could be described as a lucky draw, I could've top decked my 2 Ghost Belle, my 2 Veiler, my other 2 ashes, yada yada). He attacks me with Krosea + Varoon, some more stuff happens, his endboard is Krosea, link Varuroon, Meghala, effect monster Varuroon, face-up Mandate, and 2 sets.
Turn 3: I draw.... Fydraulis. And this is the issue, I have drawn absolutely no starters going through 20% of my deck. He uses Roach draw phase. I actually fucked this up before so I know it by heart now, I go battle phase, activate evenly matched, he chains face down MST targeting Evenly Matched (his mistake), he activates Mandate to negate Evenly Matched, I Fallen & Virt Mandate, he activates his other facedown MST targeting Fallen & Virt, everything goes off, he has to banish his whole field. He surrenders. But if didn't jump the gun on everything by:
- Activated roach when I had no plays
- Activated first MST on my trap instead of his Mandate, which would've meant he could keep a card and would allow him to set Mandate aside from him banishing whole field (if he kept Meghala he could then have special summoned a RT monster)
- Activated second MST on my spell instead of his Mandate
- Surrendered even though I had absolutely nothing after that
I would've just been screwed.
This Isn't One-Off: Sometimes it works out, my game before that one I went 2nd with 2 veiler, 1 droll (didn't use), 1 ash, 1 fydraulis, and I used them well enough I broke my Sky Striker opponent's board by the end of his turn (ashing 2nd effect of Zero is so nice) and top decked a starter (if I didn't top deck a starter I was debating normal summoning Droll and fusing him with my on field Fydraulis for Psylord Omega). Also have a 13 turn KT mirror match where we're just bricking for multiple turns until we get a play and the other handtraps us. I understand the appeal of KT is it's hand trap heavy, but sometimes the hand traps just aint good.
tl;dr: Going through my deck, nothing but removal/hand traps. Any suggestion for cards to add in?
