Stayed at Towneplace Suites in Chelsea for a few days.. Had a new name on the welcome screen every day :-) I hoped I would see my own name at some point but sadly it was not to be.

Misc TownePlace Suites. Spent 2 days looking in my room and car for my headphones before I thought to open the bedside bible drawer. Why did housekeeping do this to me.

Misc One of my favorite things…

As a housekeeping inspector, one of my favorite things to do is tuck in stuffies when I make beds. Just a cute little way to make guests’ kids feel seen, and maybe like they got a bit of special treatment 😊

Bonvoy Rewards Help me understand this

Post image

Is this saying that any and all nights between now and 10/31 will earn double nights or that I stayed once and earned my one night maximum? The terms and conditions say through 10/31 but this says 1 night maximum. If it’s every night I’ll hit platinum for the first time, if not I’ll stay a credit card-less gold.

Bonvoy Rewards Redemption nights, trying to use it

Upvotes

I have a redemption night via my credit card that I'm trying to use on a 6 night stay. I'm using the app and it seems like the only way I can use it is if I use points, don't have enough points to cover the whole trip. When I try to buy the stay I get to checkout and it doesn't give me the offer to apply it for 1 night and pay for the rest.

So can this be done or do I need to book 1 night with the redemption and a separate stay paying for the remaining 5 days?

Thanks in advance

Rates & Booking Debit card

Upvotes

I'm trying to book a four points online, using a debit card, as a bonvoy member. It says the card is invalid. I've tried two different physical debit cards (maestro and visa) and multiple virtual debit cards from revolut, (visa and MasterCard) and none work, online or on the app, is this a bug? Or can I actually just not book a one night stay for less than a hundred dollars in the US without a credit card? Can I book by phone, either directly through the hotel or through the reservations line?

Edit: specifically,

Credit card number, expiration date, postal code or CVV number are invalid. If you have entered these numbers correctly, please try a new card, or call the number on the back of your credit card for assistance.

The app says credit card, the website said enter credit or debit card, and I've used debit cards in Marriott hotels in Europe multiple times with no issues

Misc Gift card use

I recently stayed at a hotel in Davis, CA. At check-in, I asked if I could use a gift card toward my stay. The front desk agent told me to apply it at checkout instead.

Cool, The next morning, I went to the front desk with the gift card in hand and asked to use it. However, the agent checked me out without applying the gift card. When I pointed out the mistake and presented the gift card, I was told there was nothing that could be done.

I spoke with the General Manager today, and she said their new system won’t let them make any changes. I understand that new systems can cause problems, but it still feels pretty unreasonable that a valid gift card couldn’t be applied just because of a system issue, especially since I followed the instructions I was given by the hotel staff.

Bonvoy Rewards Push for Titanium or not worth it?

My wife and I have just started travelling significantly more and have many more trips planned for 2027. We hit Platinum using the status challenge and are wondering whether to push for titanium (We would be about 5 nights away with our current travel schedule in the remainder of 2026).

Do you find titanium is quite a big difference for platinum? The main perks that would matter to us is if we will get upgraded more frequently. We will be at Marriott properties in Singapore, Maldives, Thailand, and Greece in 2027 and would love suite upgrades. Also, we currently have 25k status with Aeroplan for the remainder of 2026 but are unlikely to maintain it for 2027 since we mostly flew using credit card points this year so that would be another perk of Titanium that we would miss out on with just Platinum.

If you do not think it would be worth it, we might just change some of our hotels for the remainder of 2026 to other brands! Thanks in advance!

Bonvoy Rewards Former CitizenM Plus member having trouble creating or resetting my Marriott password

Upvotes

Edit: I was able to solve the problem today with the help of a different agent.

Here's the problem. I can still access my CitizenM account using the password-less login method, which means a code is sent to your email. No problem there. I need to either recover or create a Marriott account for an upcoming booking at a (non-CitizenM) Marriott. Using my email address and trying to reset my password almost works, but the email I received says "your current password is: ". As in just a blank space. If I try and create a new account, it won't let me, and tells me my email address is all ready in use. I called Marriott customer service yesterday, and after a long wait, I got an agent that said they'd see the same thing I was seeing. She transferred me to "Bonvoy" where I listened to last few notes of a song over and over for a hour before I hung up. How should I best proceed at this point?

Bonvoy Rewards Recently got engaged with 575k points, which international destinations/properties should I consider for a honeymoon?

I have long saved my points against the devaluation advice to use them on an unforgettable honeymoon.

We want to travel internationally with a mix of exploration and beach relaxation.

What are some properties/multiple different properties, if we do a multi-stop trip, that we should look into?

Travel next spring or summer and I’m currently platinum but may stay enough for titanium this year.

Review First time staying at a Marriott in a long, long time

Had some family in town and they stayed at a Marriott Autograph collection hotel. We ended up deciding to stay there with them for their trip. The hotel was very nice, but there were some exceptional staff members. What is the best way to pass this along to management? I know their first names and what time they were working. They just went above and beyond, which made things nice.

Destination Lima; JW or Humano TRB?

Has anyone stay at either or both?

Currently have both booked, whilst I’m leaning JW, for the cost the Humano Tribute Portolio looks stunning. Very boutique and a nice pool area for about half the cost.

Misc Has the Expectation That a Room Will Be Ready Before Standard Check-In Time Gotten Way Out of Hand?

I’ve worked at one of the “Premium” category hotels near Canada Place, Vancouver for several years. Has it always been the case that over half of arrivals show up hours before check-in time? I totally understand getting to the hotel early to complete registration. However, during the summer months, more than half of our guests arrive before our 4:00 PM check-in time, and many complain about waiting hours for their rooms.

Some Elite members go as far as trying to claim it’s a benefit of Marriott membership (while, ironically, simultaneously expecting an upgrade and a late check-out). Have loyalty programs made this more prevalent?

Just a reminder that showers can have doors and lips and you can literally only drip on the bathmat and not flood your bathroom everyday. I had forgotten and just wanted to share as a PSA because I stayed at a Hilton last weekend.

Rates & Booking Unfair cancellation/change practice

I was scheduled to be in NYC for 5 nights but all flights were cancelled yesterday due to storms. I called to cancel for the night but rebooked to fly in today. The lady I spoke to at the hotel (or through the direct hotel number) said there was a 1 day penalty. Well, that sucks - but it got worse. She said she had to change my rate for the 4 days - so now I am paying way more (literally the cancellation and new rate = $1000 more) for fewer days. I had booked in advance and had a great rate for manhattan.
I could argue as I was in chaos at the airport with all the other angry passengers and already upset and missing by booked shows from last night and today.

I travel a lot and am a titanium member - this just feels unfair. Should I try to do anything? I check in tonight (fingers crossed the flight I could get on goes well).

Destination Best tropical destination with kids from east coast?

The kids are asking to go somewhere warm for winter break 2027, which is usually the last week of Feb. We would be flying out of Boston, and one flight would be preferred, but not a deal breaker. A nice beach is important and possibly a few things to do off property. Kids are 11 and 6. I was thinking the Virgin Islands, but I’m open to ideas.

Misc Do you strip your bed?

Upvotes

Pretty simple: do you strip your bed (take all the blankets and pillow sheets off) your bed before you leave?

I always do to help out housekeeping. I hate doing it, but can’t imagine doing it 20 times per day, every day. Housekeepers are the hardest workers in the industry and I like helping them out where I can.

Yes, I strip the bed.
No, I do not strip the bed.

Employment Locked out of Island

Just changed my password and I have a guest waiting to check in and I got locked out of my account for 30 minutes. It’s almost 2 am and I have no one to call. I have no way of knowing her room number as far as I can think.
