my girl suki is 4 months! what do other adult female maine coons look like? i know she’ll get longer but i mainly want to see how her face will change!!

We were at the vet when she started doing this. (I have a vid, but no way to post) When the vet came in I showed him the video and he said it could be from her losing a tooth. She's 4 months.

She has had major complications from her first rabies and distemper and is now doing half way ok. She's able to walk some, eating a tiny bit of food and going potty.
Has anyone seen their cat teeth grind before?
She's been in and out of the vet for 3 days now. I plan to take her back in the am for a drop off (for them to monitor all day) tomorrow morning. I was hoping to get some insight on this teeth grinding? I'm not ok. Please pray she's ok because I'm sure not. 😔 💔

My guy doesn’t want treats of any sort, I feel like I’ve tried about everything, if anyone has suggestions I would love to hear them.

I’ve got 2 brother and sister Maine Coon kittens that are 4 months old now. We were on a car trip and they both got carsick and ended up with poop and throw up on their tail and back end. Chanel didn’t like the bath, but was fine. My husband held her while I washed her. Captain was awful! We were both bleeding by the time I was done. We tried covering his head with a towel which helped some. There has got to be an easier way to wash them. Do cat bath jackets work? Or is it hard to wash them through the mesh? Would a shower work better? Any tips are appreciated! Thanks so much ❤️

4 month old Otto is prone to being a bit of a menace. Up on the record player, chewing blinds, chewing cords, etc. Normal things, but anyone have tips for training other than the spray bottle? "HEY! Down!" with a snap or clap worked for about half a day.

He's just too smart. Learned fetch in a day. Olympic bound if he sticks with his training.

I’d really appreciate some experienced perspectives on my Maine Coon’s jaw and the current line of thinking from our vet.

Kylo is a male Maine Coon, young adult, the "runt" of the litter!

His lower jaw/chin has looked broad/prominent for a long time – sometimes looks alarmingly protruding, but it’s generally soft and symmetrical.

He eats normally, no drooling, no obvious pain, and behaviour is otherwise normal.

Historically this has seemed more like “his face shape” than a sudden swelling, but being young adult his face has obviously developed significantly over the last 12-18 months.

He’s now been seen by a vet several times who:

- is concerned that the jaw is enlarged and is “a problem that needs dealing with”

- believes the most likely cause is an allergy

- has put him on hypoallergenic kibble (approx 10 months now) and - due to subsequently losing weight over time - is now researching insect‑based diets.

My partner holds the view that its recently "flared up" suggesting that either his outdoor activity or an occasional white fish meal (last about 4 weeks ago) is to blame. I am not so sure its flared up.

Since switching to the hypoallergenic food, he is losing weight, which seems like more if an issue than the jaw shape at this point.

I'm mainly looking for a sanity-check: is this normal-for-the-breed, or genuinely abnormal - and if abnormal, is it worth worrying about?

• Other Maine Coon owners - does a jaw this broad/prominent look within normal range, or off to you?
• If a vet ever called your cat's jaw "swollen" and it turned out to be normal anatomy (or vice versa), what happened?
• As mentioned he's losing weight since starting hypoallergenic food, would that push you toward a second opinion rather than trusting the allergy explanation?

Not after a diagnosis or medical advice, just want to know if this reads as breed-typical, or if owners have seen something similar before and if so what action was taken. Thanks!

Like many folks interested in Maine Coons we have been doing our research and due diligence trying to find the right breeder to grow our family by adding two male Maine Coons.

I have reached out to several catteries based on the information I have found and reviews I have seen. Would be interested to hear if anyone has any other specific recommendations in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area, willing to travel up to 4-5 hours, so we can visit owners/cattery. There are numerous others not on my list that I have excluded for multiple reasons.

I am also interested in hearing from anyone who may have concerns about these catteries (my research isn’t perfect) but my goal isn’t to shame anyone. Hi everyone! We are getting our maincoon Kitten on Monday. Our family is experienced dog and cat owners and we have three dogs and one cat who goes outside on her own terms and she always stays close to our house. She never stays out all night. I was just wondering if there was any advice that someone wished they had known when they got their cat.

The new kitten going to be more so my 12 year old daughter’s cat. We have her room set up for the kitten to stay in there for the first 24 hours as suggested by the breeder. After that we figured we would have our current pet babies outside for hour or so and let her check things out on her own. We were thinking after a couple days start introducing her to the rest of our furbabies. We had to put one of our cats down a few months ago so our cat we have has lived with another cat. Our dogs are good with our current cat and she puts them in their place. I think I have been more concerned about introducing our cat to her. (Our cat we have is a fixed female that we adopted from Humane Society as an adult and our new baby is female as well).

Anyway, any advice or tips are appreciated! Even tips that have nothing to do with our current pets. Thank you!!

So I used to use Seresto collars. For YEARS. When I adopted my 2 boys just over a year ago, I put them on. As MC kittens do, they grew so quickly that one day I ripped the collars off of them when I couldn’t get 2 fingers under it and freaked out that I was choking them. So I really didn’t find a new preventative. They’re indoor only, no fleas or anything ever, and I’ve become very anti-chemical lately. Plus, I really love the natural look of their neckline.

So anyway, a couple of weeks ago, I found a flea when combing one of them. No dirt, and only one flea, but eww. So I did a little research and decided on Revolution plus. Got the script from the vet, chewy had a great discount, so yay. Umm, not so much. Within a week, Kyri developed what appeared to be a severe allergic reaction. Almost $300 later, 2 shots: antibiotic and antihistamine, and I’m still giving oral steroids.

Well, they’re both still scratching. I don’t find any new fleas, but they seem so uncomfortable. I’m taking them in for a full grooming/dematting as soon as I can get an appointment. So do I go back to Seresto? I always swore by them for the dozens and dozens of furbabies I’ve had over the years. I hate to put a collar on them, but maybe that’s a vanity me problem?
