Question Card change on Instagram reels

2 Upvotes

Hey guys. I have been getting into card and closeup magic for a few months now and am loving certain gimmicks. I see one by a comedian/ magician TSmagic on Instagram reels who can take an incorrect card and literally shows the card as it changes. Like the 6 of hearts will rearrange itself in front of the spectator (on Omegle so I take it this only works with some sort of camera gimmick) into the 9 of hearts but there is clearly movement and no covering or hiding. If anyone has an idea how this is performed I would love to know.

Cheers

This guys whole page has this trick in different ways, but it seems he does very little to get the card where he needs it to be. I don’t know if the deck is gimmicked or something but it seems like he knows where all the cards are without even looking. How???

Question Volunteer writing down with provided marker, magician knows exactly what they wrote down

1 Upvotes

Hello,

So I came across this youtube short: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/orQEMZC-Y9M

I'm curious if this is a technology trick, a peek or a gimmicked pen (which is the hardest one to figure out how you'd do this with a gimmick).

Of course it's edited down, can't known exactly what happened during the interaction, but let's suppose they're not plants, it's not that crazy of a trick in a sense. Still baffles me.

Question “Oracle” Mind reading trick with names birth months and question

4 Upvotes

I saw an “oracle” act tonight. He had people in the interval write their name, birth month and a ‘serious’ question then wanted an answer to. He gave out pens and small business cards to write this information on and then each person put this into a small black envelope which then when into a locked transparent box. Now firstly he gave the key to a man in the audience. During the interval somehow the key ended up locked in the box and he got an audience member to get the key out. It didn’t seem part of the act but I don’t know how the key left the audience member and got locked in the box in the first place as this occurred in the interval. He then got an audience member on the stage to verify the information he gave. He held up the little envelopes to the light to prove that they weren’t transparent. He then held these cards and sort of fiddled a bit with them whilst not looking. He would hold the card and give an answer to whatever question he thought was on there. He’d then throw out a birth month and wait for someone to say yes. This one woman stood up and he guessed her name and the question in the card, started by saying it’s about a famous person then said he was thinking of a song about elvis and guessed her question correctly as did Elvis die in 1977. He didn’t guess everyone’s names and some cards he only touched on the song questions not the names or birth months. With another woman he guessed the name wrong ‘rich’ when it was ‘Ruth’ but correctly guessed her question which was around book publishing which he answered honestly. The woman said he probably got her name wrong due to bad handwriting and he said he hadn’t read the card he’d intuited the information. The audience member on stage started with verifying the information written in the card but stopped after the second question when people on the audience were verifying the questions themselves.

I can’t figure out how he guessed this stuff.

Question Hi. I had learned this trick a while back but now i forgot how to do it and i can't find the tut video for it anymore. Chosen card is found after spelling out any card's name three times? Full trick in body text.

3 Upvotes

Spectator chooses a card. The card is returned to the deck and the magician controls the card to the bottom. The deck is cut into three piles. Using "magician's choice" force the spectator to choose the pile with their card at the bottom. Have them name any card in the deck. Then, using the pile they have, they spell out that card's name with the cards, dealing a card per letter. Once they've spelled it out, they place the remaining cards on the dealt pile and do it again. And do it one more time. Then flip over the top card of the pile and it should be their originally chosen card.

I can't find the tut video anywhere, and even though i had done it before and it worked, right now I'm trying it again and it doesn't (thankfully I wasn't performing). Anyone familiar with this effect? Thank you.

Question The most incredible trick I’ve ever seen

Post image
44 Upvotes

Once I went to the House of Cards steakhouse in Nashville, which hosts magic shows along with premium steak cuts. The main show was entertaining and fun, but it was a single side act done by an auxiliary performer that will never leave me.

On a side table, a man was doing card tricks. They were all impressive, but the one that stuck out was when held his hand out with his open palm facing up with the deck of cards he supposedly was using the whole time laying on top.

Then, one by one, as if it was a cash machine dispensing dollar bills but in reverse, the cards started disappearing right in front of our eyes until the very last one was gone and his palm was empty.

His sleeve was pulled back, far away. His arm and hand was extended, out in open view. It was just a small group of us sitting at a card table watching this happen from, at most, 3 feet from our eyes.

I had chills down my spine watching this. There was an eerie feeling in the small group huddled around the table. We all looked at each other, worried that something beyond regular sleight of hand may have had happened.

I’ve attached a picture as reference for how the trick started. Has anyone ever seen something like this before? Any guesses on how this was performed? It is the most mind-boggling thing I have ever witnessed.

So I recently explored shows of Derren Brown and they just blew my mind, especially that gorilla act if someone knows. I just became a fan and curious at the same time

Secret Free magic trick tutorial and link repost, new version of cypher app

5 Upvotes

Cypher 2

Open this link on your phone and then save it to your home screen as a web app:

weeklyastro.com/webapp.html

Hold the % button to pull up the settings, to set it up. Including how to style it to look like your own calculator. Most important thing here is to chose your own unique pairing code or phrase and remember.

You can also set the POSITION of your harvesting data (Pin and DOB). I change mine to positions 3 and 4 and will use those in the rest of this explanation however if you wish to change them simply adapt your performance to ask for the data in those positions.

When it comes to the performance, you’ll go to a this link on their phone:

weeklyastro.com/s?YOURPARIN CODE

You can now openly display this screen. However do not scroll down until you’ve revealed final calculation on the phone.
Performing this with a participant whose phone is iPhone with Safari browser is the best for this effect. If they’re using another device, such as an Android, there will be a momentary, split second white flicker when the browser reloads later on. However, this happens when everyone is looking at the calculator reveal on your device. It’s a non-issue but worth pointing out.

Now return to your Cipher 2 calculator. Instruct them to multiply 2 random digits tougher, then hit equals. Then hit multiply again and punch in their full date of birth (eg. 22/04/76 - \Note: if the day begins with a zero, just use five digits.)* for the second of three calculations and eventually hit equals. Lastly, have them hit multiply (or divide or subtract etc.) and input their PIN code and finally hit equals for a third time.

This will then show the your predefined force number which you set up in the settings.

As a kicker, have them look at the prediction you made on their phone. When they scroll down, they’ll see that you’ve correctly predicted their starsign. When they read out the horoscope that’s beneath it to see “if it’s an accurate reading for them”, the first word will cue you to the day of the week that they were born on.

'More’ =  Monday

'Today’ = Tuesday

Without' = Wednesday

'The’ = Thursday

'For' = Friday

'Sometimes' =  Saturday

'Soon' = Sunday

Their pin number is secretly planted, reversed and separated every 2 numbers on the footer of the page. So when the effect is over, you can get a casual look at their pin.

BONUS
If you want to turn the heat up to 100º then you can send a confederate a secret link. This link will display all of the peek information that your participant has input.
weeklyastro.com/peek?YOURPARINGCODE
I’ll let your imaginations run wild with the best uses for these.

If you’d like this peek feature to integrate with other apps, then please reach out to developer of your desired app integration and ask them to get in though. We will make this happen.

Cipher 2 would not be possible or even in your hands right now if it wasn’t for the incredible, and extremely talented, genius that is Darren Close. You could find him on Instagram: @darrenclosemind
