Granted I’m a little high right now but production wise this album is a 9.5/10 for me. The creativity is insane and it just flows like silk on butter but why does it sound like shit mastering I have a pretty good setup it ruins an otherwise perfect album for me some parts could really shine but are muffled instead is this just his style? Am I missing something fundamental I feel like I’m missing something fundamental

I was watching the interview of J Dilla when he was talking about linking up with Madlib a video im sure we’ve all seen, but i never understood what he meant when he said Madlib had a CD with “all JD beats” and “vocals, cuts it was like an album.” Was Madlib sampling Dilla? Or was he rapping over Dilla beats? Which led to Dilla saying later in the video “Lets do it forreal.” Dilla also says in the video Madlib was “rhyming on it” so obviously Madlib was rapping but I just don’t get the part where he says “vocal, cuts” If anyone can lmk id appreciate it, Thanks.
