Subreddit Idea Megathread

Because if the r/askreddit link, we’ve had a huge influx of new members today. Because of that, I’d like to make this thread to ask for ideas to improve the subreddit, and keep things interesting. We are going to try and make this a subreddit worth keeping in your feed.

We really aren’t sure what do do with the subreddit since it blew up like this, and would like to see what ideas you have. I’ve also added a few baseline rules since we had no rules when we started.

Edit: I would also like to clarify that this sub is intended to entertain. You shouldn’t take anything too seriously on this sub. We want you to be able to flex your creativity here and make others laugh.

Subreddit Message Coronavirus Posts

We are normally pretty lax about what goes on in this subreddit as we want to let you guys decide what content you want to see by upvoting good content and downvoting bad content, but given the current situation we will be removing any posts related to Coronavirus.

You can help us with this by reporting any posts you see about the virus.

Quiet quitting was a Gen X psyop to convince Gen Z to put in less work and deny themselves promotions while they're still young, ensuring that Gen X stays relevant in the workforce until retirement.

Advertisements in movie theatres exist solely to make you finish your snacks quicker, and go buy more food/spend more money

Hear me out: every time I go to the pictures, I forget just how much stupid advertisements there are, and then you think the film is starting, but it's the film previews. And then they end, and you get even more rig amoral with "Okay films starting now, please turn off your phones, sit back, relax, and prepare to get invited into a magical" GET ON WITH IT. And then there's somehow even more logos of age rating companies and the theatre company etc, it's just insane. The longest I ever sat before the movie started was when I saw Skyfall at the cinema. It was about an hour from sitting down until the movie started. I remember because my mum timed it. And then to destress, everyone eats their snacks and drinks their drinks, and then they're almost out when the film starts, and goes to get more. Or even worse, you need the toilet, and have to go out and walk past the confectionary stand.

the villification of spiders in media is a psyop created by pest control and bug spray companies so you pay for their products and services instead of relying on spiders in your house to eat pests.

spiders are beneficial and eat pests but have you noticed that bug spray always advertise killing spiders alongside other pests like cockroaches. They want you to kill spiders in your house so youre dependent on thrir products.

You Must Be Damp

It could be the middle of the driest summer on record with the weather forecast saying there's less than a 5% chance of rain, not a cloud in the sky, but the second I leave work it almost always seems to start raining.

I feel like there's some unknown force in the universe that demands I be slightly damp.

I don't like it. I feel victimised. I want to be dry.

Hotel chains secretly manufacture camping chairs so uncomfortable that you’ll abandon all notion of the back to basics, outdoors getaway and fully appreciate their sun loungers.

Deodorant companies deliberately spread the rumor of "Aluminum is bad" to upcharge cheaper antiperspirants

There are practically zero reputable studies correlating aluminum in antiperspirants to cancer. It's likely cheaper to make "aluminum free deodorant" which DOESN'T WORK than to make actually good quality antiperspirants. I mean come on, people who vape freak out about metals in deodorant now; this has to be a psy-op

Hot Take FIFA WC 2026: Argentina showed the game switching the Spanish and Argentinian players with AI

Would explain why they think the game was rigged and Spain should have lost because they “played so much better”… when all the facts point to Spain being the better team during the final.

Gross-looking AI generated pictures of food are meant to condition us to accept lower quality food as safety regulations are rolled back to pinch pennies.

Barry Blonde Spot is corrupt by design.

Sony made a deal with fifa to add barry blonde spot, so his corruptness could infuriate players so much that they destroy their controllers, requiring them to buy new ones and giving sony more money.

But how do u explain finding dead birds? The raptors. Hawks eagles etc are robots that drop real dead birds to fool us. And the damages the cause by hitting windshields increases business for Big Windshield and replacing them. Which Big Windshield gives kickbacks to Big Govt whom control the birds

Hot Take r/aislop is for people who want to feel good about watching AI slop

AI slop is a subreddit where people denounce the use of AI as immoral, unethical, and unnecessary. They post AI videos and pictures on there of anything and everything, to “showcase” the slop that’s out there, but I believe that instead, it’s a place for people that don’t want to get the flack for defending AI, so instead make a fake sub like that so that they can enjoy their slop without judgement from true antis. Well guess what?? I’m onto you!! You can’t hide from me, slop consumers! I bet that half of the stuff on there is generated by them just for the purpose of showing it off in some weird self pleasuring way. I’m pretty sure that most of the stuff posted didn’t exist. Just look at the titles of most of the stuff on there, they’re not even pretending to dislike it, and sometimes they’re outright saying the slop IS NOT SLOP.
This is just a gut feeling but it’s a strong one.

Extreme Conspiracy Needing to arrive to the airport hours before your flight was made up by airports to get us to spend more money there

Going through security, checking bags, etc, really only takes half an hour at most, and for the rest of the time we’re stuck in the airport, where everything is really expensive. Since we’re there for so long, we usually end up buying food or snacks from the airport.

Why is it the first footage of an eruption only existed 42 years ago, I’ll tell you why because volcanoes house cloning facilities and to scare people from going near they made volcanoes as natural defense systems

Hot Take Cringe is a psyop by Big Normal to make adults stop having fun.

I genuinely think the word "cringe" has done more to kill harmless hobbies than almost anything else.

At some point over the last 15 years, we collectively decided that enthusiasm became embarrassing. Collecting action figures? Cringe. Dressing up for conventions? Cringe. Building Lego? Cringe. LARPing? Cringe. Model railways? Cringe. Nerf wars? Cringe. Showing genuine excitement about anything? Believe it or not. Cringe

The result is that people slowly stop doing things that make them visibly happy because they're terrified of looking uncool in broader society and closed circles.

Who benefits?

"Big Normal."

Not in the Illuminati sense. More like the combined social pressure from social media, advertisers, and companies that make money when your hobbies are quiet, digital and endlessly monetised.

I'm a gamer, before anyone jumps down my throat. I love games. But it's interesting to see how we've shifted from physical toys to digital ones. Instead of buying a toy once, you're buying battle passes, skins, loot boxes, subscriptions, DLC, cosmetics, emotes... The toy never really belongs to you anymore as a consumer. As a human being.

Again, I like games. This isn't "video games are bad" at all.

It's more that physical, unapologetically nerdy hobbies seem to get labelled as "cringe" far more often than endlessly scrolling TikTok or spending four hours arguing on Twitter.

Imagine if adults felt no shame. Or even kids for that matter.

Your local park would have people flying RC planes, sword fighting with foam weapons, playing Pokémon with link cables, building giant Lego cities, racing Hot Wheels, making cosplay, collecting dinosaurs, whatever weird niche thing makes them happy.

Instead, everyone's worried about being perceived correctly online.

So yeah, maybe "cringe" is just a social immune system.

Or maybe it's the greatest marketing campaign ever invented...

Convince people that visible joy is embarrassing, and they'll replace it with infinitely monetisable digital entertainment that nobody can judge because they're doing it alone.

And all in all? The real victims are the blokes who secretly want to buy a lightsaber but thinks the 14-year-old at the checkout will judge him.

Poor bastards.
