Discussion People are seriously underrating Runeterra's demons after the Locke story.

Post image

I think a lot of people came away from the Locke story thinking "Wait... is Evelynn actually weak?" I don't think that's what Riot was trying to show at all.

The mistake is treating every demon as if they're supposed to excel at the same thing.

  • Atakhan is basically a walking catastrophe. He's built around mass slaughter and war.
  • Tybaulk is raw destructive power, capable of burning everything around him.
  • Nocturne thrives on widespread fear and can terrorize entire populations through nightmares.
  • Evelynn isn't a battlefield monster, she's an apex predator. Her strength is manipulation, seduction, patience, and extracting suffering from a single target over time.

That's like comparing a nuke, a wildfire, and a serial killer. They're all deadly, just in completely different ways.

If Evelynn was as physically overwhelming as Atakhan, her entire hunting style would be pointless. She doesn't need to overpower armies, she needs one victim alone, vulnerable, and emotionally exposed.

The Locke story doesn't prove she's weak. If anything, it shows that Locke is an unusually difficult target for the kind of predator Evelynn is.

Demons in Runeterra shouldn't be ranked purely by raw combat power. They're manifestations of different concepts and emotions, so naturally their abilities... and the way they threaten the world are fundamentally different.

To keep the analysis fair and technically grounded, the following rules apply:

Neutral battlefield: open terrain with moderate cover, no absolute ambush advantage.

Partial knowledge: each fighter understands the general style of their opponent but not every hidden ability. Peak condition: everyone starts physically and magically ready for combat. Serious intent: strategic, no intentional underestimation.

Theory My headcanon for Galio when Durand built Galio, he carved unique runic symbols deep inside his body. After absorbing enough magic over time, those runes eventually granted Galio consciousness. "His secrets died with his sculptor."

I have been really impressed by the recent motion comics. They really put the MOTION in motion comics. I find it interesting that Locke and Evelynn are on a first name basis. I'm sure in the future Vayne will appreciate the fact that he just let Eve go.

Discussion If Mordekaiser come back right now, how does Noxus even deal with him?

Thumbnail

Let be generous and gave them back both Tybaulk and a fully "Reeducated" Rell, i still don't see how Noxus could handle this alone, but i have some ideas. Everyone Hate Noxian and Noxus as a whole let get that out of the way first, and because of the secrecy about Mord, no one gonna help them, and so far, Leblanc seem to still not have a definitive weapon again him, Hordes upon Hordes of Noxian doesn't work, demons, excluding the Primals, couldn't take him either, so how?

So, what Mordekaiser have is basically type of Necromancy, right?, so why not just threw a shit ton of petricite at him?, the only problem is, Demacian own those, so a lil raiding here and there is what they need, which is what the Grey Legion is doing at this moment

Speaking of the Gray Legion, it's basically a infinite respawning Army, and because i suppose these are dead soldiers brought back as undead, they got no soul to feed morde, win-win,

A Darkin Weapon is still out of reach, but a Chemical one isn't, and i'm sure a Certain man in Zaun would be more than happy to provide a little aid in exchange for the Blood Magic that may help his daughter, and remember, these things Scorch the ground so heavily it render it unhabitable for a long time.

If all else fail, there are still failsafes in place, Ryze would not stand still and let Morde go on a rampage, so a lil world rune is not off the table, idk what Bard does but... Well i guess he's there too, the Sentinels would also respond to this as Riven was part of them (idk if that still canon SoL event sucked ass).

That's about all i got for current options, if Leblanc actually manage to get more, or just get back the shits she let slip, i'll be counting that later, but what does y'all think?

Fan Art Brand Redesign Project

Hey guys!

So Im working on a Brand redesign project, and I've been doing some sketching - I'd love to know if you guys have any directions you like (or dont) and why, they are in the order I made them so some are way more bare bones than others but let me know what you think :D

I also posted this on Brand Mains and shared a little more of my vision with this comment

"As for the looks, im pushing and pulling in a few directions. I feel like there is a big discrepancy between what lore brand and real brand is (to me) - When I think of lore brand I imagine, like you said Cataclysm incarnate, in life he was a bitter angry man, who was powerless to change his situation. And the rune gives him the power necessary to become the "bully" and I imagine it reinforces that feeling in him the "hunger". Maybe it began as a few whispersin the back of his mind and as he gave into this whispering, it became more of who he is the rune was always there wanting more anger, more payback until the roles reversed now the voice of Kegan Rodhe was the whisper this "husk" of a human heard but as much as he tries hes now a passanger in his own body. I would love to capture this sort of loss of control and humanity in him, while making him imposing I feel like hes far too powerful to just look like bbq'ed man :b"

Theory I had a dream about lore

I had a dream where Lilia, Zoe, and Jhin were three personas inside my brain, and we were going on a fantastic journey in the League of Legends universe, ending wars and turning Runeterrra into a paradise for everyone. But I woke up from this dream into another dream, and no one believed me; I was detained over and over again and stayed in a psychiatric hospital.

What should i understand with this dream?

Discussion Can we stop acting like Shen is this long forgotten champ who never gets to do anything just because he was left out of 1 story?

Shen is one of my favorite champions in the lore, as he was my first main and the character who got me interested on the lore. But ever since last years story left him out people on this subreddit act like Shen is the next coming of Yorick, that he never does anything in the lore and is always left out of important stories.

And it just feels extremely disingenious that people act like this, because Shen is definitely not a forgotten champion. His kinkou order is by far Ionias most prominent faction (heck the second most prominent faction is probably the shadow order who are related to the Kinkou) and Shen himself actually has more lore than most other champs.

I see people say he never does his job in the lore, completely ignoring that he has THREE stories where he does said job (his color story where he kills a guy that messes with spirits, the story "the bow and the kunai" where he kills an evil spirit and the Tales of Ionia video where he pacifies a spirit), like there are champions who don't even have 3 pieces of lore, yet people act like Shen is constantly getting ignored (and this doesn't even count his updated bio, his role in Jhins bio and his prominent role in the Zed comic).

Heck he even got to be one of the first LoR champs.

And I get it, it was pretty unsatisfying of the spirit blossom story to excuse his absence with "oh he is still far away". But not every story that involves the Kinkou has to involve him. We have multiple Kinkou champs, so it is perfectly fine if different Kinkou stories focus on different Kinkou champions. This time they chose Kennen and he was by far the better choice for this story as he had a personal connection to Yunara and he has less lore than Shen, so it was nice to actually see him for once.

Theory Is the Elder Dragon an Aspect?

Thumbnail
gallery
17 Upvotes

It's just that in LoR, his origin is "Aspect of the Dragon", much like Aatrox's is "The Darkin Blade" and Bard's is "The Wandering Caretaker". Plus, that's the name of his buff in League.

Despite his Region being Runeterra, a lot of his supporters are Targon-based, as well as Demacia-based.

He's the progenitor of dragons, he's described as having a deep understanding of the balance of Runeterra and he's a keeper of secrets.

One thing's for sure. He cannot be stopped.

Discussion When will Riot actually begin to expand vertically on their lore and the world of Runeterra?

They have been as wide as an ocean and as deep as a puddle for too long now.

To be clear, I am specifically referring to the world and setting, as some characters have managed to dig themselves into a comfortable level of depth, though almost all the aforementioned characters have depth due to receiving short stories/color stories and/or Arcane which are no longer a thing.

Every single region has been in a state of limbo for the past decade, with any potential for progression instantly being smothered by "is it even canon?", "it's now confirmed to be retconned" or "Riot forgot about that" syndrome.

Freljord recieved it's last bit of development when Lissandra released, and even that was left forgotten.

Noxus has been the same noxus for as long as I can remember with the last major inclusion being Mordekaiser, who has only served to re-write the Black rose's goals (which is something I guess).

Demacia touched on some things with the mage rebellion, but as we have gotten transported back in time, it's anybody's guess if mageseekers is still gonna be canon.

Bilgewater has been in the same exact place forever now, with the last change occurring when GP died, which while great, can't be the sole source of development to latch onto as a fan.

Ixtal LMAO

Shurima's last regional narrative involved Azir, who we have not heard a single thing from since his release, and we don't even know if Azir as a champion has been resurrected yet as of current times.

Targon Lmao

The Void got belveth, who seemed like she would finally push SOME sort of story forward (lmao)

P&Z got Arcane, which while HEAVILY a character study moreso than a regional study, is atleast something. Though again, the focus on the animosity between the sister cities was heavily reduced in favor of a Marvel storyline. The cities themselves were props for the characters, rather than having the cities being treated as characters of their own.

Ionia is just a victim of things that SHOULD deepen the region, but end up doing fuckall.

What I'm trying to say is that each of the regions have MULTIPLE threads they can pursue in order to bring more life to the world that are just left hanging.

Freljord:

The Three Sisters' fragile power balance

Trade routes opening/closing with Noxus and Demacia as the region's isolation erodes

An exploration on the general role of Iceborn

Lissandra and the Watchers eroding their prison

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Noxus:

The actual mechanics of the Trifarian oligarchy post-Swain

Consequences of major military failures, both culturally and economically

What are the actual mechanisms and policies of absorbing a successfully conquered nation's people?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Demacia:

The mechanics and politics of mage registration post-rebellion.

The unresolved status of Petricite production and the effects of over-deforestation.

Diplomatic fallout with Noxus-adjacent border towns

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bilgewater:

captain-council power struggles as an ongoing institution

Piracy vs. legitimate trade. How does their economy actually function? If they were all pirates they'de be wiped from the map by now, or atleast invaded by Noxus.

Dynamic between the various cults, pirates and it's citizenry.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ixtal:

Isolationist policy under strain. how the Yun Tal enforce the boundary and what happens when outsiders or migrants test it

Internal elemental politics

Is migration out of Ixtal strictly prohibited?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shurima:

Reconstruction politics after Azir's return

Ascension itself as an institution (still a thing? banned? break glass in-case of emergency?)

Desert nomad tribes' relationship with the reborn empire. Do they ALL fear him to be a tyrant? do some join with willingness?

Old empire ruins as contested resources. Looting, archaeology, etc etc.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Targon:

The mechanics and gatekeeping of Ascension attempts

Competing theologies among the mountain's people. How does each tribe twist their interpretation of the celestials?

Economics and the mechanics of wealth in Targon. can you be considered rich? poor? How do they provide for their people in the absence of the various resources that may not be abundant in Targon? Pantheon's story showed that a caravan arrives in Targon's base. Is trade with other regions common practice?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Void:

Void corruption as a spreading territorial phenomenon with a long established frontline

Competing responses to Void threat across regions. Does Shurima, Noxus, and Ixtal coordinate, deter, or ignore each other?

Procedures for void corruption across cultures that encounter it.

Is the void even common public knowledge or has it somehow been kept secret despite it's ability to open rifts seemingly wherever it can?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

P&Z:

Chem-baron territorial economics after Arcane

Shimmer production

Policies of the independance agreement

Infrastructure strain from any hextech involving the acceleration rune effectively being made a dud

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ionia:

Ionia's fractured spiritual authority after the war

Ongoing ecological/spiritual scarring from Noxian occupation

The unresolved status of communities in Ionia that bent the knee during the invasion

Foreign relations post-war

Sorry for long post, Im just getting a bit frustrated, doubly so now that we know the rest of the year will have next to no lore progression whatsoever
