Just noticed this kinda reddish color on him behind his dorsal fin. He is smaller guy so not sure if he got in something and maybe rubbed it wrong? His behavior is otherwise normal and energetic!

We started with 2 I’d say normal smaller kuhli loaches and just received four in the mail today. 3 “normal” size and then this behemoth. He has been hiding so hard to get a good picture but noticeably larger than the others lol

Small disclaimer: the website will be ready for orders tomorrow!! Our web designer made a mistake and took it live a few days ago. So excited—this has been a long time coming for us using a remote web designer. Would love thoughts and comments once the website is up tomorrow.

We will post the link tomorrow

She’s about 5 inches if I’d have to guess, I don’t care what kind of kuhlis (banded, black, leopard) so long as they are healthy. Undecided on desired amount so shoot me an offer! Also she’s growing more larger bristles on her face so maybe I misgendered when I got her? sadly I cannot ship but I am open to meetups.

Question Yelled at for asking if store had Yoyos

We have a small group of yoyos (bought all 4 that our preferred shop had) and want to get a few more so they feel more secure. Called a different shop and asked simply if they had any in stock, and got reemed out by the owner:

"They can get 9 inches long and they are very aggressive! There's a lot of misinformation about that animal online!"

This store is highly reviewed but I had a bad taste from this. He didn't ask what size tank we have, what other fish we keep, or anything.

I can only speculate why he felt this way (kept too small of a school? Got a mislabeled shipment?), but I'm curious to hear from anyone with yoyos if this has been your experience with these goofy little guys.

I’m sure he’s actually out all the time when I’m not around, but this is the first glimpse I’ve gotten in probably a year as he teleports under the sand if there is any movement outside the tank. The angelfish photo bombing the video is actually the only reason I was able to get that close; the fish swimming back and forth (the angels beg for food even right after I’ve fed them) masked my approach.

I posted this little guy here a few years back when I first got him, he was small and very underweight at the time. It’s nice to see him looking big and healthy! The friends that I got for him shortly afterwards turned out to be a different species, they are still around too, but they stayed small.

Question Fluval Stratum as sand ok for kuhli loaches ?

Hello !! im buying stuff for future kuhli loach tank but im kinda stumped with the sand :(

i want them to dig around but for that i know i might need sand or a very round and small gravel.... i was planning on just using fluval stratum cus i want lots of plants but im worried the gravel will be too big/heavy for them to dig :(

would love if anyone has used it :)

I’m sure you guys are aware of how hard these guys are to catch XD Customer brightened my day asking me for one specific loach out of like seven of them. I honestly don’t know if I got the right one but they were pleased with it nonetheless… I don’t own loaches but it was really funny and I wanted to share

Question How to keep Hillstream Loaches with slower moving fish?

I really want Hillstream Loaches. However, I also really want Congo Tetras. There is a small window of temperature overlap they both can thrive in, so that’s one concern, but I am mostly curious about how people handle the flow and oxygenation required for hillstream loaches without disrupting slower swimming fish.

Is it possible to add an airstone and/or wave maker just to the floor of the aquarium so mid and top water dwellers aren’t disturbed? I’m curious if anyone else has experimented with setups like this with any success. Can you tell me what you’ve done and how you’ve made it work where one species isn’t constantly stressed out? Is it possible to skip a wave maker? Could just an airstone, combined with the filter, provide enough oxygenation for hillstream loaches?

For context, they would go in a 45 gallon long aquarium, that is also fairly tall, so I’m thinking this could work, but I don’t want to torture any fish. I’ve also got an inkbird temperature controller so I can hone in the temperature just right for them.

Question Loaches and hydroponic plants

Post image
2 Upvotes

How often if ever do you trim the roots of your plants? Ive noticed the loaches really enjoy laying in and wiggling around the roots but it gets to the point where I can't see my fish for checks and I end up cutting them back. That being said, water quality is 👌🏽 pristine. Please excuse the algae, the plecos like it. This is post-trim. Some of my vines are over 20 feet long.

What type should I get

I have a 10 gallon that I am using for quarantined plants. The ones I get from sellers that allow hitchhikers with your order. What type of loach to I get. That won’t outgrow my 10 gallon and eat the snails and possibly the eggs. Or should I have gotten a 20 gallon?

Behavior My new (mostly) Pangio Loach website featuring my Aquarium

Post image
28 Upvotes

Hello fellow loachers!

I want to show all you guys the website I have been working on for some time now.

https://squabblesinspacetime.com/

It showcases a bunch of species from my aquarium, but there is a strong focus on Pangio Loaches.

On my site, I individually feature all of the Loach species I have in my tank, with HD photos that are fully zoom and Pan enabled.

Each species also has an embedded video to see the loach in action.

https://squabblesinspacetime.com/

I started working on this site, because I found that for some particular species of Pangio loaches, there was little to no information online, and definitely no close-up videos. So I decided to get busy documenting my own Pangio loaches. I started taking videos and photos of my loaches, and slowly amassed a decent collection of videos of not-commonly-documented Loaches. This website is my way to show that work.

I will continue to add information to the site, and I hope one day it can be a reliable resource or reference for Pangio loach information.
I am welcome to any and all feedback, I wish to make this site as good as it can be.

Please visit my site, but as a sneak-peek, I have small bios of 10 different Pangio loach species, with photo and video evidence!

I also have a section for random fun and cute loach videos, and a few features of notable individuals that caught my eye.

The site is mostly for loaches, but there are a few other species featured.

If you spot any errors please either message me here, or use the contact form on the webpage to let me know!

The Kuhli Loach game at the end is now Mobile-Friendly! It took a while to get that right, but it works now. The site is Mobile-Friendly in general, but the site is still best viewed on PC.
