hi
it's been a minute, how is everyone.
we've reopened the subreddit mostly cos the admins threatened us with putting scabs in the mod team lol, but i think it's probably a good time to see what people still think about the subreddit.
given that this is subreddit is almost a decade old, i was thinking that maybe we should do something interesting with it, since it's been a fair few years since there's been much activity back to it's peak in like 2015/2016.
Will you restrict posts in solidarity with other subs
No, I don't rly see the point since the activity on the subreddit isn't that high so it won't matter too much
what'd you have in mind to spice shit up
tbh idk, i don't use reddit too much anymore but i think it'd be a nice time waster for me if i started running weekly stuff like music
new mods?
i mean, the sub doesn't need more mods but most of the team (me included) doesn't use reddit much anymore
give me some ideas!

Ah yes, the cool features of old computers like slotting in a card
Totally not doable on modern PCs, apps ruined that and the ability to flip a switch and push a key (those other two were shown in the video)

low hanging fruit Saw this nonsense, smh
God, gen x is sad
Nobody would go to Blockbuster, it's gone for a reason, it sucked*. We would stay home and stream movies/tv or watch the physical media we have. Blockbuster nostalgia is the worst.
Sit down Pizza Huts are plentiful and THRIVING, at least where I live. You can still go there and have a personal pan and relive your youth!
I hate to break it to ya, but AOL Instant Messenger *was* an archaic form of social media. Do you think sitting in your dorm room stalking away messages and profiles was all that different than stalking Facebook?
That garden hose water rotted their brains
*This isn't a knock at the video rental store, those ruled. Just Blockbuster in general. Poor selection, overpriced, horrible fees.

Saw this in another sub, couldn't help but laugh...
Speaking on strictly top 40, and I say this is a crusty 41-year-old man, 2020s music is light years ahead of 2000s music and while there was some really good pop in the 90s it might be the most overrated decade for music ever.
Thoughts?

Who do "I hate today's music" teens have posters of on their walls?
Do they not have posters on their walls of current music artists because they hate them?

Remember when people hated Lady Gaga and Kesha?
It's crazy to me to see hate for them here, especially when they made really good songs back then. Either way, with how overplayed and everywhere their songs were, I get why people back then felt this way and it's not different from anyone shitting on the songs that come out now. It's still wild to me that when a lot of time has passed, the music that was once deemed as bad to some becomes good and legendary. Sometimes, even the bad music gets deemed as good by those who have memories with it. That said, what I learned is to just be myself and to enjoy what music I want instead of letting the internet control my opinions since popular songs will always get shitted on and hate no matter how good or bad they sound and some have nostalgia for such a time that they would feel such a way towards a particular song that getting to attached to that results in them claiming music sucks now since it's different from what they loved and it's not for them.
