Got a letter from "ledger" but it's scam (again)

I want to remind that ledger won't send any letters to you and you have to watch out.

Dear redditors,
I recently got a new laptop and installed Ledger Live on it. I connected my Ledger Nano S and added the accounts for a number of coins I own. Unfortunately, I still can’t manage to add my EURC account.
In Ledger, when I click Add account, I can select the Ethereum network for EUROC. But for EURC (without the “O”), I only get Avalanche, Base, and Solana as network options. With EUROC, I can select the Ethereum network, but then my EURC still doesn’t appear in the account.
If I look up the address on the internet, I can see the EURC sitting on that address just fine. Can anyone help me figure out how to get this into Ledger Live? I want to send some of it to an exchange.

TL;DR: This latest Ledger Wallet update covers a lot (yield, perps, gas-free swaps, and more, full notes linked below). Two things stood out to me specifically:

• Aggregated cross-chain balance: one number per token instead of adding it up yourself across networks

New Features in Ledger Wallet?

Ledger Wallet's July release is built around three ideas: more clarity on what you actually hold, more choice in how you move it, and more control in testing a move before you commit to it.

On the choice side, the app now compares rates from 50+ providers across 100+ chains, so you're not stuck with the first quote you see. Swaps through Uniswap and 1inch are gas-free on eligible transactions, and it'll let you pay the network fee in the token you're swapping instead of needing ETH sitting around. Cross-chain trades run through Moonpay Trade, Near Intents, and Exodus. There's more yield and staking access in there too, though as always, none of that is a guaranteed return and Ledger isn't giving financial advice on any of it.

On control, there's a new Earn Simulator that lets you model out a strategy before you actually put funds into it. Low-stakes way to see what something might look like first.

What I like from the update

Two things stood out enough that I wanted to write about them specifically.

The aggregated cross-chain balance. If you hold the same token across a few networks, you used to add the numbers up yourself, three network views, three line items, doing the math by hand. Now it's one number per token, with the per-network breakdown a tap away if you want it. The first time I opened the app after updating, that number just made sense immediately.

Real-time P&L. The wallet used to just show what you have. Now it shows how that position has moved, across the portfolio view, the analytics page, and each asset's detail page. Small shift, storage viewer to performance tracker, but it changes what you actually open the app to check.

Both features are now standard in my regular flow.

What's the one feature you're hoping shows up in a future release?

After a update 2 months ago I can no longer connect my Stax to my pc. Ive factory reset my stax and recovered a few times. Also uninstalled Ledger Wallet and reinstalled several times. All to no avail.

Ive had to remove stax as my 2 factor auth on all financial apps.

Any thoughts?

My Ledger Stax wallet's screen is showing color distortion. Currently, it's similar to a faulty e-ink e-reader screen. The corners are darkening, and the black and white colors are starting to blend together. This is followed by increasingly annoying ghosting.

I bought it on July 2nd, 2025.

I guarantee there have been absolutely no impacts, drops, or physical damage. When I contacted the official reseller, they claimed it was because I removed the screen seal and refused to provide support.

I wonder what removing the screen seal has to do with anything?

Can I now request that the manufacturer inspect and replace it with a completely new one?

I've always treated my Ledger as long-term storage but it got me wondering how everyone else approaches it. Whenever I want to use crypto, I usually have to move funds to another wallet or an exchange first. It works but it feels like more friction than there should be.

I just bought a Ledger Flex and I'm calling it an upgrade from my Trezor Model T. I am concerned by the number of people posting here about being scammed or had their account drained. I never had any issues with the Trezor and liked it well. I know very well not to give out any data such as seed phrases, etc. Is this something I need to be more concerned over than I was with the Trezor?

So I got some btc/eth/bnb in a hardware wallet LEDGER. I am thinking what if my pendrive stops working or LEDGER site itself goes bankrupt.

How do I recover my coins?

You will say "you need to write down your keys", yes yes but HOW do I get my ledger hardware keys?

I just want to preface by saying I have no one to blame but myself. I broke the rule of no entering your seed phrase on your computer. Throwaway account for obvious reasons.

I opened up my ledger wallet app on my computer today and was greeted with a message saying that there was a genuine check required in order to sign into my account and that I needed to input my 24 word seed phrase. Should have been obvious to me that it was a scam but I trusted since I haven't had issues with Ledger in the past and I downloaded it off the official site months ago, I trusted it. As soon as I put in my phrase, it said it was "unable to verify". My heart immediately sunk as I realized what I just did. I wasn't thinking. Again, no one to blame but myself.

When I opened up the app, I saw exactly the same thing this guy in the reddit post above posted in the very last slide about entering the 24 word seed phrase in the correct order.

I did some digging and came to the conclusion that possibly my computer was affected by malware and altered my ledger app. I tried to transfer all my crypto back to my exchange but it was too late, they drained my account within five minutes. I lost about $2100 across BTC, ETH, and SOL. Painful, expensive mistake. It's not the end of the world but it definitely hurts. I know my Ledger Nano S is compromised at this point. I already wiped my MacBook clean but is there anything else I should do? I've filed a report with IC3 and Chainabuse but realistically I probably won't get my money back. Really trying not to beat myself up.

TLDR: Broke the one rule about cold wallets, now my wallet is drained.

Does Ledger plan to allow Bluetooth enabled devices to connect to a PC through Ledger Wallet? OneKey added this feature a few months ago to their Pro devices, and ever since then I've found myself not using my Ledger because it's much more convenient to connect to my PC over Bluetooth than using a cable or pulling out my phone every time I want to use it. If there are no plans, I would highly suggest considering it in the future because it makes the user experience so much better.

I wanted to stack my ethereum on Ledger live application. But when i want to stack them on Chorus or other pools (i have tried all of them), nothing append, is it a bug from the application?

What happend to the ledger wallet grid view under accounts? That was a nice feature and my default setting under accounts. I think the current UX sucks! I hope you bring that option back.

I thought they had fixed this issue but maybe not. I have maybe cycled through 3 Nano X’s due to this issue.

My most recent nano X, the sleek Black on Black nano X you got from redeeming the Ledger Market Pass, finally died. I forgot to charge it for a month and when it ran out of batter, I tried to charge it and was hit with the “Battery charging problem” that all the others hit.

Finally decided to upgrade to a Ledger Flex but was just curious if anyone else noticed this issue.

If you haven’t messed with your Nano X in a while because you’re trying to set it and forget it, there is a chance that it does not hold a charge anymore. I would check it out if I were you guys.

I always hear of folks loosing there keys why not get the recovery key it's an amazing tool and a great backup solution.

Am I'm assuming right though, it will only work on stax, flex and nano gen5 with NFC capabilities. I bought 3 when they were a great deal gave them to trusted family members and one in the safety deposit box.....

Isn't it better than paper and the metal boxes that give the possibility of being found?

Update: after what seems like a lot of overthinking I’ve decided to go the simple route and just get a new device to do the transfer, it gives me the most peace of mind. Thanks for everybody who helped!

Was cleaning out some areas at my parents home and re-discovered my old nano S that had been “bricked” (not sure what happened but just remembered it not working)

I didn’t even remember having much or anything in the device so I just tossed it, as it still just didn’t come to life when connected to usb power

However not long after I actually found the damn key to the thing! And for some reason I had saved my btc view key separately, so I went ahead and imported that into a mobile wallet to check my balances and holy shit there’s like 15k in today’s prices! I guess I had bought a few hundred of btc back in 2017 ish when it was around a thousand and just forgot about it until now 😅

I’m asking here because not sure what is best course of action is to recover these funds. Should I buy a new hardware wallet and re import the seed? Should I just use an air gapped computer to sign a tx to an exchange? What would you guys recommend. I’m not necessarily trying to stay in the crypto game just want to cash this out asap

my brother-in-law said this over dinner last week: "just use binance, why complicate it." meanwhile i'd been telling the people i help set up wallets the opposite, so it stuck with me. the popular take is that a CEX is the "safe" default. i disagree, at least for a one-and-done swap (not talking about active trading here, different question). the risk people forget is account risk. a frozen account, a random re-verify, whatever it is this month. your money is THEIRS until they decide otherwise. for a single swap you're taking on a bureaucratic risk you never needed.

when i'm picking a route for other people i keep landing on SimpleSwap because there's no account to freeze in the first place. you send the amount for the swap, it lands back in your own wallet, nothing sits parked on their platform waiting to get flagged.

fees sit in the rate, roughly the same 0.5-ish% band as everyone else last i looked. for a nervous first-timer moving real money across a chain, boring and predictable beats dealing with an exchange's mood.

anyone here actually had a CEX freeze mid-swap on them, or is this just theoretical paranoia on my part?

I have an old ledger nano s on hand whose LCD gave out on me. Is it safe to use the LCD screen found on e bay as replacement> I plan to use the old ledger just for seed generation to be used for my other ledger wallets or other compatible wallets.

Using v4.10.0 in Spanish-speaking region. UI language and region are set to English, but your backend server forces Spanish notifications seemingly based on my IP. This breaks the app for expats.

This morning, 10 July 2026, I was caught by a very convincing physical-mail phishing scam targeting Ledger users.

I received a professional-looking letter claiming to be from Ledger. It contained my full name, postal address, the exact Ledger device I own, Ledger branding and an individual reference number.

The letter claimed that I urgently needed to complete a “Post-Quantum Cryptography Security Update” before 31 July 2026. It instructed me to scan a QR code.

I scanned the QR code and was taken to a website that appeared to be Ledger. It asked me to enter my 24-word Secret Recovery Phrase. Believing the letter and website were genuine, I entered it. I also followed what appeared to be a Ledger update prompt on my computer.

I NEVER CONNECTED OR PLUGGED IN MY LEDGER DEVICE.

That did not protect me.

Shortly afterwards, an unauthorised transaction emptied 0.00969157 BTC from my wallet. The transaction has now been confirmed and cannot be cancelled.

The important part I did not understand is that the 24 words are not merely a password or recovery code. They are effectively a complete backup of the wallet’s private keys. Anyone with those words can recreate the same wallet on another device and spend the funds without possessing the original Ledger or knowing its PIN.

A normal Ledger wallet is not two-factor security where both the physical device and the 24 words are required. The physical device protects the keys during normal use, but the recovery phrase can regenerate those keys somewhere else.

This is the point that needs to be made brutally clear during hardware-wallet setup:

THE 24 WORDS ALONE ARE EFFECTIVELY THE WALLET.

Do not:

- Scan QR codes from letters claiming to be Ledger.

- Enter your 24 words into any website, phone or computer.

- Trust a letter merely because it knows your name, address or device model.

- Believe claims about urgent verification, security upgrades, account suspension or “post-quantum” protection.

- Assume the physical Ledger must be connected before someone can take the funds.

Ledger now has an official support article called “Physical Mail Phishing Scam” describing this exact method and stating that it will never ask users to enter their recovery phrase online.

I am posting redacted photographs of the letter so other people can recognise the wording and layout. I have covered the QR code so nobody accidentally scans it.

I have reported this to ReportCyber and Western Australia Police. I understand that entering the recovery phrase was the critical mistake. I am posting this because the scam was specifically targeted, professionally produced and knew exactly which Ledger device I owned.

I do not currently know how the criminals obtained my name, address and device information, and I am not claiming that Ledger itself sent the letter.
