Not disgusting after all

Picked it up after I made the post about choosing something else over it. I will say the model on display did not feel as good as this one it felt very stiff, mine came out the box feeling like a balisong, I love flipping it like it’s one. Going to use this like I originally planned to replace most of my edc, and for the past couple days it’s been great. I like to carry a pocket knife but the fast action of opening the Magnacut blade is just as good so it really does put most of my edc into one package. My original complaint was paying $300 dollars for one multitool with tax and if you buy the bit kit, which is very disappointing it doesn’t at least come with that (don’t really need the sheath sense it has the pocket clip) would have been nice to still keep that with it for the price increase. If you have the money it’s definitely worth the purchase, unless of course you want more than just one multitool. I’m loving it, I’m glad I gave it a chance and I hope it can handle some abuse.

Will leatherman warranty the freestyle?

I assume they will but would like to know if someone has done it before. Got this for $2 and the pliers are broke and the blades tip is bent. Since it has the same pliers as the skeletool they would replace them right?

I learned two things the other day

  1. The Leatherman pocket clips are hardened. They're hard af actually. Shouldn't have been surprised, makes perfect sense, I just never thought about it. I tried to bend the end of it up a little, it bent down throughout the years, it was hard to squeeze the jeans pocket under it. So I tried to bend it up, didn't budge, not even a little... then just broke. That brought me to learn the second thing.
  2. I was about to order the new one, then I had an idea. Rounded off the the broken edges, heated up just the end of it, bent it upwards a bit... and it's good as new. I feel like it's better this way, to be honest.

Crisis averted. New knowledge acquired. Little bro kept it's good ol' trusty clip. EOF.

OHT pocket clip

Here is my solution for the lack of pocket clip on the OHT, this is a CIVIVI clip that cost me 6 euros, no screw needed just the clip that fit perfectly with the original hardware.

Replacement for a Style PS

Upvotes

Love the tool, have had it for about 10 years now, but the spring on the scissors broke and the tip of the file/screwdriver broke, and Leatherman will replace it, but with a Micra or Wingman, since they no longer have any repair parts.

So, I have some questions for the community:

1) has anyone tried the replacement parts makers on Etsy - I found one that makes replacement scissor springs, buy not the file, yet?

2) Any recommendations for a different manufacturer's pocket tool that includes pliers, which the Micra does not?

Knifeless Signal?

did a bunch of research and finally pulled the trigger. My signal is on the way. Now I'm already considering some mods. I've seen a few people replace the saw with scissors, and I'm wondering if it would be similarly easy to do the same with the knife instead. I really don't enjoy multitool knives, and always carry a standalone knife anyway, so I'd really like to have the added functionality of the scissors, especially since I can just swap the knife back in whenever I like, and don't need to void my warranty either.

Would such a mod be possible/easy to do? I would assume a little filing is involved, but I don't want to modify the tool itself so I can keep my warranty.

What scissors do you suggest?

Would people be interested in an unofficial Leatherman Discord?

Been a Leatherman fan for a while and couldn’t find a dedicated Discord server for people who just want to chat about their tools, models, EDC setups, sharpening/maintenance, etc.

Before I put time into building one out — is there already one out there I’m missing? And if not, would people actually use something like this?

Would be unofficial/fan-run, nothing official — just a place to nerd out about multitools.

Leatherman skeletool

I've bought one about 2 weeks ago and I have a question for you who had one for perhaps longer.

Did you ever lose bits from it? I wonder whether I should consider putting them in my wallet or something.

Statement From Leatherman on the #008 Captain Crunch

Post image
40 Upvotes

Just received this email from Leatherman.

TLDR: They have heard the complaints regarding the tension of tools on the recent Captain Crunch. They are offering free inspections and adjustments to fix any multitools that may not have been adjusted properly from factory.

QC should’ve caught this before the Crunch even dropped, but at least some steps are being taken to fix the situation.

Free K2/K4 user experience?

I have recently lost (can’t find it) my Signal, damn shame.
Now I’m looking at the k2 or 4, different tool with different uses, I did love the pliers and used it also a lot but was already looking at a more blade oriented knife. I still have hope I will find my signal so I don’t want to go for a pliers multitool. What are your experiences with those knives?

Thanks!

Is the wingman worth it?

For an entry level tool would you say it’s worth it? I know the price reflects its demographic (entry level tool) but is it even worth it for that or would you have a better time spending more and getting something nicer
