Discussion Pausing a podcast to translate one word was ruining whole episodes for me
Non-native speaker here. For me learning English is mostly about listening and reading, podcasts more than anything
Also a one thing drove me crazy for years.
I hear/see a word I don't know → pause → switch to a translator app → type the word → switch back → and by then I've lost the context and half the motivation. Apple Podcasts even has transcripts now, which is great, but you still can't tap a word and see what it means right there.
So I started building a small thing for myself and it slowly grew into a real app. As my background is product design, not hardcore engineering — honestly, modern tools make it possible to build exactly what you want these days. I know how to make nice and usefull but maybe some functions may work incorrectly :)
What it ended up being: podcasts, YouTube and books in one place, transcripts where you tap a word and get the translation in context without stopping, and the words you save come back for review a few days later so they stick.
I made it for myself and how it will help other, will be very happy to build it with a community https://tryclue.app/
I'd be happy for any feedback or ideas, we're all trying to get better at this language one way or another
