Does the 12go QR code sent work?

I'm at the train Ststion and when I booked the train last week I got a QR code almost immediately that looks like it's a screenshot from the LCR app. It was sent to me from a company called Family Service. I was able to get in the Station with it but wondering if it will work to actually get on the train

WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT The following investigative documentary contains graphic footage of wildlife trafficking and animal abuse that some viewers may find disturbing. Viewer discretion is advised. All materials were for journalistic and educational purposes.

------------------------------------------------------------

Our investigator uncovered a disturbing reality. Chinese tourists and triad openly show off live pangolins and pangolin cuisines on Chinese social media. They treat Laos as a Wild West.

We have compiled these social media clips together. Our goal is not just to expose them, but to demand that internet giants take immediate action to purge this illegal content.

English language cinema?

anyone know if there’s a cinema with original audio for western movies? I wanted to go see the odyssey but I’m told the cineplex in Vientiane never has any original audio, they only show dubbed versions.

Cruise or rural homestay near Luang Prabang

Hi, we plan to travel to Laos and other countries in the region. We will spend aprox one week in Laos. My question is if we should take the Mekong cruise from Thai border to Luang Prabang or rather fly from Chian Mai to Luang Prabang and spend 3 days in a local homestay. Which of the two offers more local vibe and makes sense for a short stay in Laos?

🚨 Person arrested in Vientiane (alleged online scam network)

Hi everyone,

I’m from Brazil and need some urgent help, please! 🚨

A friend of mine just called desperately because her brother was arrested in Vietiane. According to my research, he was working in a alleged online scam network and over 100 people were arrested.

She needs to hire a lawyer and contact her brother, but she doesn’t know where he is jailed, which prision, police station… Anyone has any information to help? Thanks!!

Lao silver jewelry

Sabaidee! Does anyone know if it’s possible to get Lao silver jewelry similar to this for less than €300? It’s kind of like a Luang Prabang style with little flowers I think!

I saw lovely 24k jewelry when I last visited but don’t remember if I saw any silver pieces available. So curious if it’s possible to find and if anyone sees it for less!

Laos currently under "critical" fuel levels?

According to this website, Laos only has an 18 day supply left of fuel. Do you think this is accurate and what will the ramifications be short term? will all transportation stop?

3 weeks in Laos, need some help

I Would be in Laos for 3 weeks, is it worth paying for a full day tour package on getyourguide for Luang Prabang which includes the Kuang Si Waterfall, Sunset River Cruise and other attractions for $50 per person. Are there any alternative recommendations?

Also I’m aware that it is they rainy season now, would taking the paramotor be recommended 😅😅 Also any other suggestions on what to do in Vang Vieng?

What are some good shopping malls in Vientiane? I heard google maps can be inaccurate at times where it will show a certain location as closed when it is actually open. (ie. WTC Mall Vientiane)

Lastly, any recommendations for CLEAN massage places?

Would really appreciate the recommendations 🙏🙏

i’m on a mission to learn about every culture. i would love to chat with someone from laos.

i’m currently on a project to talk to people from as many countries as possible to get a real feel for what life is like around the world. i’m not looking for anything specific im just hoping to have a genuine conversation about your culture, what you do for fun, or just how things are where you live. if you’ve got a few minutes to chat, i’d really appreciate it.

Traveling from sangkhlaburi in thailand to luang prabang, looking for interesting stops along the way

Hi, I'm 22 F planning to solo travel SEA. I need to get from Sangkhlaburi to Luang Prabang, it's a pretty long trip (30+ hours) as I'm trying not to fly so I can actually enjoy the view and the countries I'm visiting.

In short, I'm looking for recommendations for towns I can travel to through as I make my way to Luang Prabang.

Edit: thanks everyone, this was super helpful. I've decided to go the slow boat route

ESIM advice to consider if you are coming from US

I recently bought a new phone from verizon, it is esim locked. Their new policy is it must be fully paid off before they will unlock it. Problem is, as an upgrade i get the phone for free if I use the monthly credit as a trade in.
What this means is A:) I can pay off the phone fully and lose the credits that would have made it free after 2 years or B:) Use an old phone sitting around that has no carrier assigned to it, or C:) buy a burner phone.
The issue is verizon has an international plan for 12$ a day, meaning my trip would cost 168$ for my trip vs 15$ using Airalo. Buying a burner phone would probably cost me close to the burner phone price. So I am stuck. So the moral of the story is keep an older phone handy for these sorts of things!

How much is it to rent a tuktuk in Pakse?

Hi! I have a few questions:

- How much does it cost to rent a tuk-tuk in Pakse?

- Is it possible to hire a tuk-tuk for the whole day at a fixed rate, with the driver waiting for us at each stop?

We're planning to visit:

- Tad Fane

- Tad Yuang

- Mr. Vieng Coffee Homestay

- Wat Phou Salao

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Nongkhiaw

One of the best viewpoints I've visited in Laos 🇱🇦

This is the famous viewpoint in Nong Khiaw, a small riverside town surrounded by dramatic limestone mountains in northern Laos. The hike to the top takes around 30–45 minutes, but the panoramic view is absolutely worth the effort.

From the summit, you can see the Nam Ou River winding through the valley, traditional villages, and endless mountain ranges stretching into the distance. If you're planning a trip to Laos, Nong Khiaw is definitely a place that deserves a spot on your itinerary.

Have you ever visited Nong Khiaw, or would you add it to your travel bucket list? 📍 Nong Khiaw, Luang Prabang Province, Laos
