News Join the Kroger Discord Server!

With all the new members in the subreddit I wanted to extend another invitation to the Kroger Discord server. It's all employee-ran outside the reigns of corporate where we can discuss our experiences at work with other people across the company in real time. This is a tremendous resource for getting feedback and assistance in your job. Better than Kroger can offer themselves. In the server, all roles in the Kroger enterprise are welcome. Thank you!

I wore it when I met the new Kroger CEO. I don't think he noticed when he got my name.

Question question for cake decorators/bakery clerks

Upvotes

i have a friend who works in the bakery and is supposed to be the cake decorator. she is not certified yet and has only done one class.

my question is: is it normal to have the cake decorators also close the department? they have my friend closing almost every night she works and they tell her “oh you can use the first 4 hours for cake decorating and then the last 4 to close!” but when inevitably she can’t focus on cakes because they treat her like a normal bakery clerk she’s unable to really put time and effort into her actual role and then gets in trouble because she doesn’t have back up cakes or there are holes. i just feel so bad because i feel like they are asking a lot and it’s really taking it’s toll.

there is one other closer and all she does is closing tasks for 8 hours, so a dedicated closer, not someone who is expected to get two jobs done.

if anybody has any advice or tips i could give her that would be really appreciated.

I work at a licensed Starbucks location in a Kroger, i've had multiple people faint or fall ill due to the crazy high heat where I live and dehydration.

Stay safe (and sane)!

Got bored ran back stock and snapped a couple pics. Honestly just want to see if anyone else is able to keep their departments clean when they have the “extra time”. It could be better but then again it could be a hell of a lot worse. Gotta go do fresh start now 🤣.

Question Working by myself in extreme heat

I’m a courtesy clerk at one of the Dallas, Texas locations and my time manager didn’t schedule anyone else to work afternoons so it’s just me and it’s currently 105 and feels like it’s 120 cause of the heat index so if I start getting heat illness no one can tell me, so are they allowed to do this or not (also they did it with the one who did the morning shift)

I work for the night crew and the manager had caught me on my phone. oh well, anywho I’ve realized he manager for the entire shifts he usually leaves by 10:15 ish and back by 4am??! This unbelievable as how this guy just comes back after 4-5 hours of sleep or maybe no sleep. I’ve asked the night crew lead he said he has no life. This is insane

Question getting my job back?

for a lil bit of context i had a mental health crisis earlier this month and had a breakdown at work. quit on the spot that day and walked out of my job. i was not in my right mind when i quit (i've since gotten help and stabilized).

i'm ready to go back to work, i'd really like to return to kroger if possible, but i'm not sure who i should talk to about it or if they'd even take me back? anyone have similar experiences or advice?

i contacted my union rep earlier this month, soon after i quit. he sounded like he wanted to stay pretty hands off and suggested i just talk to the store manager. i wasn't yet stable with my mental health during this period so i didn't end up talking to any store managers.

and man. the worst part is, a day before i quit, i tried to give em a note from my care team specifying i need the time off for the treatment i was receiving. store manager that was in that day refused the note, lol.

anyway. advice is appreciated. i'm pretty much in the dark here with who i should be contacting.

Question Got the Interview, what now's next?

Hello all. I got the interview from a store down the street from my place. Now things haven't gone completely according to plan. At first I had to come in the morning for my interview but she was busy with loss prevention. So I came back a few hours later, shook her hand, and got started. I let her know I live down the street, have flexible availability, can do the work , do well with others and arrive on time. After the interview she said to expect a call back before the EOD but that call never came and I'm becoming slightly concerned that I didn't get the job. Or maybe they got caught up and couldn't call back. I even left my resume with her.

For context, I had to go a but of an unorthodox route. I first spoke to her in person, followed up over the phone for an interview and we're here now.

Based on your experience, what does this look like from a hiree or manager standpoint? Did she interview me just to get me to go away? Should I follow back up on friday? Her next available day.

Question Interviewing tomorrow for an ASM role *Advice?*

Really excited, I have a panel interview in Atlanta at a downtown location for an ASM role they're trying to fill by Aug 30th tomorrow morning. I have 9 years of sales and retail management experience as a general manager. But never at a grocery store. I love shopping the store, the brand, etc and just want to focus my career to larger chains.

Any Advice!? 🙂🙌🏽

Question kroger "last chance agreement"

i work for a kroger in central ohio and was told i would be allowed to come back to work once someone can write up a "last chance agreement" for me to sign. for context, i was suspended pending termination for several no-call no-shows during a hard time in my life where i was unmedicated and going thru a lot. i am wondering if anyone has heard of such agreements and what they entail. either way, im happy to be coming back to work bc i love the people i work with and i like the environment of my store in specific

Question Was I fired?

I missed some work and I had a note for 3 of the days I worked but others I did not and was told unless I got a note not to miss work. I had an accident on the way home and my leg and knee were swollen so couldn't go to work yesterday and I have a note for yesterday and today. I was on the schedule today but I checked and it looks like they took me off the schedule for today but I still am on the schedule for next week!? I can access MyTime and my FEED still but I can't click on IAM unless that's a thing for only when your at work. Just hoping they didn't fire me without notice or without calling.
