This is neat! Also, I've never ever seen any dice that look like the very top darker blue one. That one looks so unique!

It is the only one I have. I found it in the back of a cupboard at a school I used to teach at, when we were emptying it , culling and cleaning.

Beautiful! But I need to know why you decided to not have them face in the same direction. 😅👀 Some dots are lined up horizontally and some vertically…

this is very pretty, for future reference it would also be a good idea to sort them by size as well, like big to small. the random small sections kind of detract from the overall appearance a little

I guess its subjective. For future reference, and this is entirely personal... from an aesthetic point of view, for me, when there is some break from the predictable or expected placement, this creates visual interest and tension, and makes for a more interesting composition....it also allows for greater personal input, rather than merely following a process or non creative systematic approach. I realise knolling has its guidelines, but hope that some play is okay too. Maybe because I am a professional artist, who creates in 3D, my desire to tinker is at play here. I appreciate your feedback though. 🙂

you could also try flatlay! that's for the more artistic arrangements.
knolling is about order and organization, you want to be able to see what and where everything is at a glance. visual interest is fine but you want to not cause too much tension or distraction.
knolling was originally created for organizing tools in a workspace. it has some flex now but the goal should primarily be able to see everything organized so you can see what is what easily

Thank you for responding. Appreciated. I know this re : knolling. But I think this photo is still pretty well organised and easy to see what is what. I've looked at the guidelines for this group many times, spent lots of time googling knolling and its origins. I do not come to this ignorant of its history etc, in fact I find it quite fascinating. As for flatly... Thanks for the suggestion. I have been doing flatly for many many years. I have actually programmed and hosted many flatlay workshops for businesses, creatives, government agencies etc., and I have a degree in Visual Arrs, majoring in photography. So I am very familiar with it - though I know it keeps evolving.
