I had a ultrasound due to chronic UTIs. When doing the scan, she took a very long time on my right kidney and it was painful compared to my left. What could the cause be?

I'm just worried about this in future. Can repeated UTI scarring cause CKD? Chatgpt says it does. Can anyone throw their insights.

CT results — Moderate left renal pelvis dilatation with delayed contrast excretion from the left collecting system; left UPJ obstruction cannot be excluded. Please correlate for left flank pain and consider follow-up CT urogram.

I still haven’t heard back from anyone about the results for 2 weeks and I’m just not sure what to do. I’m just stewing about what this could mean. Has anyone else had results like this from a CTA? Should I be worried??

On the 15th. I got a urine culture done. I think it pointed to a uti. But the doctor didn’t say anything or give me an antibiotic. Now I feel really weird. My back hurts really bad. My upper right stomach hurts. I’m dizzy. Sweaty. Fuzzy. I know something is wrong with my body but I don’t know what. What do you guys think it is?

I am a generally healthy and active person. I rarely get sick or have issues. I started getting random abdominal pain that is in my upper left abdomen.

I started having the pains on a Friday that went away and came back at random times over the next few days. I ended up going to the ER on the following Wednesday night because I was having such bad pain. Urine test came back and they said I had a kidney infection. I took antibiotics for a week and felt fine, but I am back to having pain again. I initially ignored the pain because I thought it could be gas, but it has been consistent in the same spot.

I scheduled an appointment with my naturopathic to see if she can get to the root. Does anyone have input? Could this be my kidney or something else?

50f here and I am 99% sure I have gout- it started in my big toe about two months ago. Then my knee a month ago. My finger and hand within the last two days.

I have an appointment with a rheumatologist on Wednesday- but I’m wondering g from a kidney point of view-what does this mean? Are my kidneys failing or having a harder time flushing? I’ve had two kidney/blood infections that put me in the hospital and I’d kind of like a heads up if this gout is a precursor.

Any correlation?

I just underwent my third shockwave lithotripsy. It’s been 4 days and I have not passed a single stone.

Back story: I 27f was diagnosed with DRTA 3-4 years ago and have been dealing with continuous calcium phosphate stones. It’s gotten to the point where my CT scan just says “innumerable” stones on both sides. Up to 1cm large. My first shockwave was successful and I started passing stones immediately. Second shockwave I found the sedation barely worked and I was in quite a bit of pain the entire time, regardless I still passed stones immediately, but not as many as first time. From there I was still struggling with stones so my urologist recommended Ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy which was the worst experience of my life. The stent was horrible and it ended up moving down and caused a great deal of pain to the point where I could barely walk. Didn’t shower for days. Every time I peed I thought I’d pass out from the pain. I just kept going on though because they said the pain would get better but by the fourth day I decided to go back to the hospital because my BP was low and I couldn’t keep anything down including my potassium citrate which I need to take. Anyway long story short after that awful experience I still didn’t pass any stones. My urologist wanted to do another Ureteroscopy but I just can’t handle it right now so we did another shockwave lithotripsy.

Now in present day nothing has passed and I’m at my wits end. I’m sick of being held back by my stones and being afraid to travel because of it. I want to have children soon but I’m worried it’ll make things worse. We’ve determined it’s not genetic so that’s great but there’s still no known cause for the DRTA which is also frustrating. On top of it all my last bloodwork showed my eGFR at 54 and creatinine at 121 which is the worst it’s ever been.

TLDR; HOW DO I GET THESE DAMN STONES TO MOVE? YES IM DRINKING LOTS OF WATER AND GETTING EXERCISE.

So I took a urine sample yesterday to see if I had glucose or ketones in my pee, because I was having symptoms of diabetes. Those were negative, but I had 1+ marked for blood on my results, but my period ended a week ago, and I'm having no symptoms of UTI or kidney infection. I'm wondering if this is worth discussing with my doctor in case it's something I shouldn't ignore, or if it might've been a false result ?

Hi my 5 month old boy got pylonephritis , kidney infection twice now first time it was on right kidney second time it shows in both kidneys. its been treated promptly at hospital via IV antibiotics. He was born with hydronephrosis condition. Doctors booked his VCUG scan to check reflux or blockage. I am bit worried . please can anyone advice will his kidneys be ok? He is otherwise feeding well, gaving proper wet nappies and playing and happy. He got high fever that setlled down quickly. and no fever after 2 days of treatment. we still completed his 14 days course of antibiotics in hospital and now he is on low dose antibiotics orally for everyday.

So yeah I have a 6 week old boy who was diagnosed with a horseshoe kidney around 20 weeks. Finally got some imaging done last week and it turns out he has two very small stones beginning to develop. Doctor said it’s benign meaning I believe the stones are solid so not tumors? We have a two week wait until we get to see the kidney doctor and honestly my wife and I are just trying not to spiral. I’ve been dealing with kidney stones myself for years and I know first hand what comes with it. I feel so defeated that my son is already starting a potential life long battle with stones. Any info or input would be greatly appreciated.

2:31 PM Pt arrived to ED and had syncopal episode after joining check in line. Pt assisted to floor by security. Gurney brought to lobby. Pt sitting up, appears pale and diaphoretic. Pt c/o sudden onset RLQ pain radiating to his groin and flank with associated vomiting. Symptoms started aprox 1 hour PTA.

General: He is in acute distress.

Appearance: Normal appearance. He is well-developed.

Comments: Actively vomiting.

2:54 PM Patient seen and examined. Exam as above. High suspicion for kidney stone based on patient presentation. However testicular ultrasound ordered as well to rule out torsion. Initial orders placed.

4:39 PM Labs independently reviewed and interpreted by me. CBC notable for leukocytosis of 14.1, otherwise reassuring. CMP notable for mild AKI with a creatinine of 1.47, otherwise reassuring. UA not indicative of infection.

4:39 PM US Scrotum and Testicles IMPRESSION: No acute findings.

4:56 PM CT Abdomen/Pelvis IMPRESSION:

1. 14 mm stone seen in the urinary bladder adjacent to the ureterovesicular junction on the right side most likely recently passed stone with mild hydronephrosis and hydroureter as well as delayed nephrogram consistent with obstruction. Correlate clinically for pyelonephritis.
2. Mild hepatosplenomegaly.

5:43 PM Patient re-evaluated. He states pain completely improved now. Feeling much better. Discussed pertinent labs and imaging results, including recently passed 14 mm stone seen in the urinary bladder on CT. No evidence of kidney infection on labs and no evidence of significant AKI. Due to size of stone, plan to consult Urology.

TL;DR Worst 3.5 hours of my life. Was vomiting out the car window on the way to the hospital. Fainted near the ER registration desk and don't even remember that part. I felt a sharp wave of pain after they put me on morphine, just before my ultrasound and CT scan, and I'm pretty sure that's when the monster stone dumped into my bladder. After that I was all good. Sore as fuck today though. The PAC nurse who was getting ready to schedule surgery came by and said she had never heard of a 14mm stone passing naturally, and the urologist said it was the biggest one he'd ever seen make it through the ureter without injury.

8mm stone in lower pole shown via ultrasound but scheduled for CT to get accurate reading on size. I've been having flank pain for about a week (feels like I've been punched in my side) and it's now an issue to sit upright in a chair. I feel better laying down. Urologist thinks stone is trying to pass or could be moving around which is why I'm having pain.

I was told if CT shows a stone of 6mm or larger, surgery is the next step.

Are ultrasounds really off in measurements? Could it be larger?

I have extremely high blood pressure that refuses to go lower with anything I do. I have a history of CONSTANT UTI’s that I never feel, just get tested and “wham!” It’s there. Along with that, I have left back pain that’s lower. I’ve been having chills and nausea. I also have 17,000 for my white blood cell count in my labs.

Doctor thinks because of this that I might have kidney infection or some type of infection.

The ER did the original labs and basically blew me off and sent me home. They said everything was fine and overlooked the white blood cell count.

I had to wait the entire weekend to get signed up for their stupid website to access my lab results to look for myself. This isn’t the first time they’ve overlooked shit.

Does anyone else have a similar experience? They took a urine and blood sample at the doctors so I should know what it is within a few days.

I been having urinary issues, I have a lot of anxiety so I’m constantly checking urine and noticed my urine is clear when I look at it normally but when I bend down to the toilet or look inside of the cup and inspect it immensely, I see a lot of sediment/debris, but only up close other than that urine is see through not cloudy. Is that normal? Whenever I google it says its uri or kidney issues. I do get mucus threads here and there to which doctors say it’s abnormal but nothings wrong?

I'm 27. I went to the hospital after my third kidney was feeling weird. They said my scan was normal. But I can feel my third kidney getting anxious. I got a second scan, and the same thing happened. They gave me a referral to a psychiatrist; I didn't want it, but they put it in. I was not happy because I don't need a psychiatrist; I need surgery. Has anyone had a kidney infection without the obvious signs, like fever and feeling really unwell?

I'm 13 weeks pregnant. Suspected a UTI and dropped a sample off last week. It has come back with a bug, a really unlikely one so I'm not on treatment but waiting for results of the new sample as the lab thinks the first result was highly unlikely.

Over the last couple of days I have had a one off low fever, 37.5 then 37.8 the next day. Then this evening 37.8 and I was feeling very very hot.

I still have the UTI symptoms, the urgency, the increased frequency and lower abdominal pain.

Yesterday I also had some lower left flank pain and tenderness in that area. But I haven't had that today.

I'm currently feeling a bit sniffly, cold like symptoms but I think it could be hayfever because my eyes are also a bit itchy.

I spoke to a GP last night who told me I didn't sound ill enough to have a kidney infection. I do suffer with reoccurring UTIs, before and during pregnancy and have had previous bugs.

I guess I want to know is, how do people know they had one if they didn't have the obvious signs and symptoms.
