News 19-year-old soldier from Texas killed in base attack in Jordan
•
u/Lamertron1 34m ago
If you are taking part in a war then you have to be ready to die.
•
u/420blazeityoloswaggy 30m ago
Wow. So insightful, thanks for your contribution. /s in case it wasn’t obvious
•
u/Lamertron1 26m ago
Imagine being a country that is constantly invading other countries and naming it "defence"
•
•
u/Lower_Profession_682 57m ago
The comments here make me puke. I hope they are all farm troll paid by Russia or china
•
u/Cunnykun 1h ago
I saw pics of some group where the people who she died protecting for are making fun of her death.
which people? I can't say the name or my account will get terminated.
•
u/Secret_Account07 1h ago
I’m so confused. When you say “which people” are you talking about a country?
•
•
•
u/Triplesfan 4h ago
While these folks are running for cover, trumps out shanking golf balls in the woods. 🙄
•
u/skorpn35 4h ago
Yeah, Obama was too busy getting ready for the Tonight Show to take a call on an imminent attack on our embassy in Libya that killed quite a few people.
•
u/professionally-baked 1h ago
Hahaha you’re so embarrassing
•
u/Ashamed-Anybody7713 1h ago
It’s called performative outrage and you people are just the definition of hypocrisy
•
u/420blazeityoloswaggy 28m ago
Ok so Obama did something fucked up too, unfortunately that’s completely irrelevant because he has nothing to do with the current death we are discussing. You bots/trolls/richt-wingers are so pathetic with your what-aboutism
•
u/Booly916 3h ago
Did Obama start a needless war when he campaigned on "no new wars"?
•
u/skorpn35 2h ago
Yes, he declared war on every military veteran in the country. Trying to say that they are not mentally stable enough for them to own and/or use firearms.
The Veteran Firearm Ban: Obama's administration faced pushback from Republicans over Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) procedures that submitted the names of veterans deemed unable to manage their finances to the FBI's gun background check system.

u/Select-Interaction11 3h ago
I mean that's every president. I don't like Trump but I dont know what people want a president to do. Do nothing and sulk 24/7 because a soldier is dying every day. These people signed up for this. If you go in the marines, army or any of those ground level military branches then you know in the back of your mind that you could be called upon at any time. These soldiers are thinking this even before the Iran war started up. Shit can go down at any moment whether a president starts it or not.
•
u/whendrstat 1h ago
These people signed up to die as a distraction from the Epstein files?
•
u/Select-Interaction11 51m ago
Maybe idk. I just know they most likely signed up to get great benefits and potentially get school all payed for. Or they didnt know what they wanted to do in life.
•
u/CtrlPwnDelete 4h ago
While these brave souls are taking cover from bombs in a bunker, Trump is on the course failing to get his ball out of the sand bunker
•
•
u/Party_War_2813 6h ago
Shouldn't have joined the military
•
•
u/DreamKillaOG 4h ago
This is an egregiously insensitive comment. Do better.
•
u/Shiresan 1h ago
I mean... they knew what they were signing up for. If you willing say "yes, I'll partake in the slaughter of other human beings, give me a weapon please" and ended up getting killed by said humans...then the system is working as intended. There's only 1 way it ends in wars: kill or be killed.

Why should anyone feel sad for dead American soldiers that sign up to die halfway around the world for the modern day Nazis?

Lol. Cant even hide your actual disdain for Americans in the same Post were you try to pretend grief for one.
•
u/I-caught-it- 6h ago
I’m very interested in the psychology of some of you guys who are commenting so I want to raise an absolute strawman question.
If America was being attacked on our own soil, would you willingly fight for our country or would you roll over and let it happen?
•
u/NoNotAnUndercoverCop 6h ago
OMG stfu. “I’m really interested in the psychology of anyone who isn’t MAGA shitface, I want to deny it and rub it all over my ass that’s already covered in stink”
•
u/I-caught-it- 5h ago
I promise you I’m not MAGA lol I don’t even vote
•
u/NoNotAnUndercoverCop 5h ago
So if you don’t vote what makes us think you’ll actually fight and defend the country? You’re on oxymoron bro
•
u/I-caught-it- 5h ago
I wouldn’t sign up for the military now, I have a job I don’t need to. However if we legitimately had a boots on the ground invasion here (which will never happen), I’d join then.
I love America, I hate our past few candidates for president. I’ve only been able to vote since 2016 and there hasn’t been a single candidate I’ve trusted in the last ten years.
•
u/NoNotAnUndercoverCop 5h ago
So vote against them. Fill in names in the ballots. Research opposition.
Not voting is literally saying “I’m cool with whoever wins” it doesn’t say “I refuse to vote for bad peeps” like you think it does. You also need to consider your rhetoric in “I’d join then” I think what you’re forgetting to realize is that by the time it hits our soil, there has already been several recruitments and drafts and begging from the government for more troops. They’ll offer war bonds and promises, honor and dignity. The whole reason there are so many ICE officers who popped up out of nowhere is exactly the phrase “I’d join then”
•
u/I-caught-it- 5h ago
I mean yeah I’m pretty much cool with whoever wins, shit gets bad from one pres., then the next president comes and fixes some of it and makes some things worse. Rinse and repeat. Voting third party is a waste of a vote and a waste of my time. Yet the two party system is also the worst thing known to man.
I would wait for it to hit our soil before doing anything. Their promises about war bonds and whatnot wouldn’t really mean anything, I have a good job I wouldn’t give that up unless I was in immediate danger. Also I don’t see how this has anything to do with ICE.
•
u/NoNotAnUndercoverCop 5h ago
💨 whoosh 💨
•
u/I-caught-it- 5h ago
Do YOU even know what you’re saying? Pretty sure I hit most of your points there. Disappointing conversation
•
u/NoNotAnUndercoverCop 5h ago
You did put a remarkable amount of effort into reddit to make a point, especially with capital letters to emphasize the finger wagging 😝. I’ll say that thing now that good old boys don’t realize means something else, “Bless your heart, dear.”

•
u/Icy-Steak-9653 6h ago
It especially is hard knowing that the joke of a president and his administration don’t care. They will keep up this war that costs lives and unlimited amounts of money for nothing but oil. She died for this nations greed. It’s a shame anyone wants to fight for this country anymore know it’s all corruption from top to bottom.
•
u/ABChow000 5h ago
Why do so many Americans think their governments give a fuck about the military?
You are like rats with toothpicks to them
•
u/Icy-Steak-9653 3h ago
Exactly. It’s not even sad anymore, it’s pathetic to think otherwise. I’m just so tired of fighting wars that aren’t ours and fighting for resources that are killing this planet when we could be living so differently.

•
u/xDzerx 6h ago
I mean that’s what happens when you attack foreign countries - people die. She signed up for the possibility.
•
u/Impossible-Yard-476 5h ago
She was in the garrison in Jordan? How was she attacking anybody
•
u/Rude-Relation-8978 5h ago
This isn't saying that she was directly attacking anyone but rather her government was attacking and then as a result she was attacked.
He's speaking on a large scale. In happens in almost every war, and on a military scale it's almost expected. Whenever America gets attacked or attacks bases around or near that area go into high alert mode. Because those bases and military personal are an extension of the government.
So while Billy from America is just some lonely farmer, and in Iran there's some guy name Ali is just a Sheep herder. In another life they could be friends who can share a drink together. But because their government attacked each other, they are "enemies" violence is justified as defense. This is war and it how it's always been brutal.

u/Rude-Relation-8978 4h ago
Jordan isn't neutral, jordan is our ally? We have US bases in there. That's the whole point of having Us bases in other countries so we can attack / defend places within the Middle East.
•
u/xDzerx 5h ago
uh... you didn't know the US was at war with Iran? It's been quite known in the news.
•
u/Impossible-Yard-476 5h ago
But why is Iran attacking Jordan now
•
u/therealgalathiusgirl 5h ago
because us military bases are in jordan, and the us continues to attack iran so iran is retaliating. iran is too nice tho, they notify the entire country before they strike every time so that all innocents are evacuated
•
u/Impossible-Yard-476 5h ago
Has Iran been telling you this? Also were they nice to the 52k liberal protesters they killed this year?
•
u/therealgalathiusgirl 1h ago
no, my family members that live in nearby countries like jordan that iran has been bombing in retaliation, they told me this a few days ago.
•
u/Impossible-Yard-476 1h ago
Not very credible. My family members tell me I’m entitled to all the gold in the world but that’s not true lol

It’s one thing to attack a nation on the other side of the world, but attacking our neighbor is so far gone on the stupid scale it’s insane. For a land war with Canada, Congress would vote. He’s stupid and the people around him are stupid and things are really stupid right now, but we’re not at “invading our closest trade partner and political ally” stupid. He’ll only run his mouth about that.

Democrats the ones fighting for women to be allowed in military. Now they show her pic to spark outrage. Quite disgusting behavior
•
•
u/Nikita2024_ 6h ago
Maybe you should be blaming the petson who started that war in the first place. Its easy to blame someone for something for they didn't do because your afraid to blame those who are truly responsible for the act of war because you don't want to blame the GOP.
•
u/Skaroosh 7h ago
What a smoothbrain take. If we hadn't started this pointless war, she and the other Americans wouldn't have been killed for no reason than to forget about the Epstein files.
•
u/Bitter_Expression_85 6h ago
His point stands, what about literally any other war we have the possibility to engage in? Women do not belong in the military. Maybe as nurses and doctors. But combat roles they have proven to be worse in every way.

It's pretty sad to see so Americans in here talking poorly about this girls choice to be in our military and neglecting to recognize that she was fighting for your freedom.... regardless of what you think of Trump or the war. It's this attitude, which is largely led by unappreciative liberal (certainly not all... there are many liberals close to the middle that respect the flag), that perfectly demonstrates the fact that you've forget why you have the freedom to run your mouth about your own countrymen/women in the first place (the fact you want to is disgusting). She was basically figting for your right to come on here and spew your BS about how her life doesn't matter and that you don't care about her. You're pathetic. So many unpatriotic and unappreciative liberals these days. And, i'm not MAGA, but i'm a conservative who can't stand when people enjoy the freedoms provided by the United States of America, but act as though their lives are so bad being a citizen. As I said, PATHETIC.
•
u/Academic_Swan_6450 14m ago
I do absolutely agree that military service is crucial for the very ongoing existence of a nation. But Iran was not threatening us. They did kill the troops in Beirut in '83. What most Americans don't realize, is that Trump's threat to just take the oil because it would be so easy, already happened once in 1953 and went on for 26 years. The British and we the peace loving Americans treated Iran, like dirt for decades. The British lived like kings in Iran, while Iranian our workers lived in squalor.
Then in '82 we started backing Saddam in his World War I horror type aggression against Iran. Military might can cause a lot of problems for a nation. The use of military force by at least three nations in World War II really hurt them in the long run.
•
u/Neonsub97 2h ago
Dickriding America's global violence isn't patriotism it's fascist apologism. What interests of ours is she supporting in Jordan? Is she providing aid to Palestinians? No, they're most likely stationed there to prevent endemic revolutionaries from fighting for the homelands they lost to the genocidal maniacs she and all American soldiers are sided with.
You want to pretend like there's no foresight available to our actions and that sacrifice warrants respect. Soldiers dying in unjust wars don't sacrifice themselves, they just commit a slower suicide.
She contributed nothing to our freedom. At best, if she survived she'd just be continuing to support the oppression of the Middle East through American empire. She died like she deserved- a dog of the state on a land she didn't belong in. If she didn't know what she signed up for, that's on her.
•
u/better-red-than-d3ad 4h ago
They're not fighting for "freedom." They're fighting to enrich billionaire investors, industrialists, and other capitalists. Vietnam wasn't about freedom. Korea wasn't about freedom. Iraq and Afghanistan weren't about freedom. Hell, we didn't even join world war 2 for freedom. We only joined because Japan and Germany were a threat to our slice of the imperialist system. Before that we tolerated (and our ruling class openly funded) American Nazi rallies and Nazi organizations. Afterwards we saved over a thousand Nazis from the consequences of their actions so that they could bolster our industry and military. Even high ranking Nazis and fascists like Karl Wolff, Reinhard Gehlen, Nobusuke Kishi, Hans Spiedel, and Adolf Heusinger, were rehabilitated by the OSS and many joined the ranks of NATO, which was filled with hitlerites. Don't lie and say that the military fights for our freedom. The military fights for billionaires and against the peoples of the world. It has NEVER fought for freedom.

Much of the world is asking for what freedom this time ? Much of the conservative world asking the same question What freedom ? War was started by Trump and Netanyahu. There is no debating that.
•
u/FamilyTroublesTA 8h ago
I think it’s awful she died because a demented old pedophile got blackmailed into a war by a foreign nation that has damaging info on him.
She’s a hero for wanting to protect her country, but the circumstances that led up to her death were preventable.
•
•
u/Miamicutlerridge305 10h ago
How exactly was she fighting for our freedom?
•
u/Interesting-Rate-450 9h ago
The fact you have to ask that shows how little you understand why you have the liberties you do.
•
u/Miamicutlerridge305 4h ago
Please! MAGA is more of a threat to our freedoms than Iran will ever be. That’s why you have nothing to say to back up your claim. Trump has taken more liberties away and continues to attempt to take more. All you can say is bad liberal. You swear you support troops but it’s all bull shit.
•
u/Interesting-Rate-450 3h ago
I absolutely think that MAGA is a threat to the country. I do not support Trump, even though i'm a conservative. I haven't said anything to support my claim because its obvious that nobody on here is taking the time to actually READ my post. Its not that I support the war in Iran and I certainly don't support thr Trump administration... I'm simply saying am disgusted when people like this woman die while fighting for the US and her country men and women make light of it and put their political dislikes in front of her commitment to her country. She didn't choose Iran. She joined the military to fight for her country and our the governemnt sent her there. I'm not gonna hold that against her and mock her courage because I don't like the war. Shit, we dont even know if she supported why she was there. But, that not relevant. Everyone on here who has reponded has basically bashed me by saying how our government sucks, our military sucks and that MAGA sucks. It has very little to actually do with what I posted. That's why i haven't responded much. By the way... we have the luxury of these wars taking part on foreign soil. If that wasn't the case, everyone would be very thankful for the military that they love to bash so much. They may still hate Trump, but they'd sure be loving our men and women in uniform. It's like our police. Many liberals (again, not all) hate them, but damn if they won't call them when the need them. I'm done here, though. No more comments from me. No use in arguing with people who can't even understand what you wrote.
•
•
•
u/JuiceBoy42 8h ago
I think these two points fighting eachother is a cause for the divide between many people at the moment.
The military is not a bad institution in on itself: defence, rescue, preparedness, humanitarian aid, protecting sovereignty, etc etc are all provided by militaries around the globe depending on that countries' governing of said military.
People wanting to join the military often come from that standpoint, even if they differ in personal motivations. It's a career and calling that is often not tied to the need for destruction or political leniency.
USA is to a very provable degree marketing their military as "defending our freedoms". Saying that without the military those freedoms would be taken away is a oversimplification of what the military stands for. The offensive actions against Iran can partly be pointed to wanting to defend foreign citizens (with little results showing for it), but now have undoubtedly more economic and political reasons, with the current president of the USA gaining personal wealth and power by directing these attacks.
Attacking Iran is not in interest of protecting your freedom, neither is the existence of a military and wanting to join it an evil one.
•
u/King_of_all_Clover 8h ago
It’s asinine is what it is. Only a moron would think this war is to protect our freedoms. A fucking swallower. A parrot. Every stupid war has been to protect our freedoms when in reality almost none of them have. Maybe the Revolution and the War of 1812. I suppose the stupid Civil War if viewed from a certain pov. My pov is we should have let the South fuck off and fall on their own. Then clandestinely armed the slaves and completely destroyed every southern piece of shit slave owning scumbag. Instead we gave them a seat at the fucking table. It was ridiculous. That’s how you get these terrible morons like Lindsey Graham. Thank God that idiot is dead now.
•
u/Logical_Smile_5414 10h ago
That girl was murdered by a PDF trying to avoid accountability. And I hate to break it to you, the "liberals" are the ones fighting for your freedoms these days. The military is being run by racist white nationalist. And if you can't see that, then you are maga. You're just in denial because you know everything they're doing is morally wrong. I bet anything you voted for that convicted felon and pdf rapist.
•
u/Interesting-Rate-450 9h ago
It seems like everyone who disagrees with you must be MAGA.
•
u/FamilyTroublesTA 7h ago
As an outsider (I’m Dutch) looking in, it’s disheartening how polarizing the two party system is. It’s flat out tribalism with people voting against their own interest. It’s crazy how often I’ve seen the “you’re maga/liberal” comments lead to rejecting the exchange of ideas.
In the Netherlands you have far more options during voting, although the “left vs right” sentiment is also being magnified here, with social media and foreign actors playing a major role, and honestly it scares me how easily swayed most of us are. It’s all so divided for no reason.
•
u/AgainstMedicalAdvice 7h ago
??? This isn't two party debate happening right now. The original poster of this chain is just being stupid, regardless of party affiliation, which I'm still unclear on.
They're right that we should feel sorry for the poor girl, not mock her. They're wildly incorrect in stating I have to respect the military and every service member because they are actively protecting my freedom. This was a girl who joined for <whatever reason that was not blowing up Iranians>, and was out in the middle of the desert helping Trump blow up Iranians. My ability to post on Reddit, and enjoy other American freedoms, has nothing to do with the number of dead Iranians this week.
This is often along party lines, but it doesn't have to be.
•
u/FamilyTroublesTA 7h ago
I said what I said because liberalism and being maga were being included as if it were deterministic of what kind of person someone is.
•
u/NeroJacks 5h ago
I mean if you are mega that very much does say what kind of person you are at this point. Their entire personality is to do or say something incredibly stupid and then go lmao did I make you cry.

I can always tell the internet warriors and YouTube watching dreamers from the veterans based on what people write.
•
u/Academic_Swan_6450 2m ago
Really? Let's talk about the Vietnam vets who hated what they had been forced to do, tricked into doing. I was almost one of them, draft number 12 in 1972, but I started talking to return vets at college in 1970 and to a man, they told me to stay out no matter what it took. My dad, a veteran of the Pacific Theatre '43 to '45, told me, after I told him that I thought the war was a mistake, that "it was nuts," and he would do whatever it took to help me stay out.
And let's talk about the high rate of suicide among US vets. There is something seriously wrong with this picture. Men are being chewed up and spit out.

So all military personnel should just stay at home and leave the country defenseless? A lot of ppl know what they’re getting themselves into and know that it’s a possibility that they’ll die serving their country and are still here.

Genuinely what are you talking about? It's been like 50 years since the draft so all military service is voluntary.
Now if you're talking about how America only offers social safety nets/any semelence of socialism, it's to those in active duty, then yeah that's true. Still better choices than joining the war machine imo.

Half of Israely apartments have shelter room which would protect the tenants from being killed. Doesn’t US bases have those?
•
u/Buphucked 11h ago
It’s hard for young people like yourself to understand why
•
u/Uncabled_Music 11h ago
Well.. Thanks 😊 certainly its a pleasure to hear that pushing 50. But still - personnel should have been protected. Its no big deal, just shelters. I brought Israel as an example cause they have experienced lots of Iranian rockets recently, of the heaviest kind. If its not for shelters, thousands of civilians would have been killed.
•
u/RstakOfficial 10h ago
Jordan isnt equipped like that.
U.S. Bases, while persisting, are designed to be removed with very little left over. Permanent structures are not built. Therefore subterranean structures are not maintained. There are defense and shelters, but theyre not always effective against blast pressure, and some soldiers just simply dont go to shelter.
Its easy on the outside to say she should have been protected, but in a place thats not designed to manage hits like that, due to the state of affairs when it was built, we can see that things happen in war, and its sad.
