Introducing myself as the new mod!

Hey guys, there was never an official announcement as the owner of this sub is pretty hands off of r/jimmyjohns and reddit in general, but they decided to add me to the mod team to help clean up the backlog of reports and keep an eye on things.

I'm new to the mod thing, but I'm messing around with all the tools given.

Aside from the introduction I think it's time to add some more rules. Nothing crazy, but only being able to report a post or comment due to "no customer information" doesn't help when there are people being unnecessarily shitty to users, or for any of the many other things people do on Reddit that we shouldn't have to deal with.

So I'm going to add a couple rules against shitty behavior or spam (not that I've really seen a problem here with that, but no harm in having that option) that you typically see in other subreddits, but I'm just curious what you guys would like to see as far as rules go?

I'm not going to be a dictator and I'd like this subreddit to continue being a place for everyone to share their stories from the customer and worker side, rant/vent, ask questions, and just have fun.

Has there been anything that's bothered you but you didn't feel that you could report due to the lack of rules?

Questions? Concerns? Ideas? Maybe ideas for flairs? Feel free to comment here or DM me.

Today I'll be entertaining company I have while making food, but I'll respond as quickly as possible and will try to role out some new rules within a couple days.

Thanks!

[Shitpost] This sub is a no Snowflake zone

Been getting a lot of "Harassment" reports when someone calls another a dickhead, idiot, and other mildly offensive things.

Unless someone is being truly hateful some of y'all need to chill the fuck out. If you don't like a post downvote it.

This isn't some official JJ zone. You don't have to be clean as the air vents and ice machine. You don't have to hide in the freezer to smoke here, you won't get fired for calling your GM a dickhead.

This is a safe place for JJs employees to vent and laugh. Customers aren't excluded, but note that by default we all assume you're someone who orders a slim 6 with no cheese.

Good temps for digital oven/ proofer?

Got anew digital oven, I’ve always had the dial one. Proofer is way slower than what I’m used to, what are good temps to use so it can be faster without over heating it?

[Question] Can they see if you actually watched a training video after marking it done?

Their website is set up really stupid and just redirects you to other people's postings or transcripts I can't figure out wtf this is. And they said the video would open in another tab but it isn't doing that, just showing me some random member who completed it like a year ago.

It's really pissing me off why can't they just put the video there. Like I actually cannot access it. I'm considering just marking it all completed because why does it even need a video? I'm sure I can figure out how to do most of this stuff myself

[Question] How are the unwichs at JJ?

Was wondering how the unwichs(lettuce wraps) were at jimmy johns? Also, are they a pain in the ass for the employees to make?

[Question] Do employees seriously have to memorize the whole entire menu?

Studying for a fast food place off the clock is absurd. It looks like they don't tell you the ingredients on the ticket? The pay seems decent compared to other places but idk it's making me consider looking elsewhere

Out of Bread

How do you run out of bread? I’m not even mad, no big deal, but I’m baffled how a JJ says they are out of bread. Was it cuz it was 7:00pm on a Monday?

[Question] Is it harder to be a new GM at a new store or an established store?

What’s your guys experience as new GMs ? I have been a AM at my store for about a year now been certified over half of that. I’d say I’m very good at my job when it comes to speed and knowing everything. My DM offered me a upcoming GM opportunity at a brand new store opening soon. How is it training new staff and having an entire new store. Everything at my current store is ancient so I’m looking forward to a new nice store when time does come. Is it harder starting new or easier. I’m looking forward to building connections with the city aswell finding businesses and schools to do catering for and etc.

[Question] Answering phones

I've somehow managed to go 9 months without answering the phone. What is the process of answering the phones and placing a order? Specifically deliveries? The more specific the better because I'm a fucking idiot.

Question for GMs

We have a position that is a guest manager float, and this position will come to fill in for opens/closes or to help with days that are short on staffing.

I'm interested in hearing experiences from GMs that have had a float in their store.

What do you find helpful, best experience?

What did you find unhelpful, worst experience?

Areas, DMs, Regionals; feel free to chime in as well. I am gathering information for training purposes.

I appreciate it!
